NFL: Pats relationship with Mac Jones "gone sideways"
ForJimmy replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
It’s like you haven’t been watching since the preseason. (Not that I blame you) -

He is cheap and still very young/raw at a premium position. I would try to keep on if we can as a QB3.

Shaw and Robbie are players who were probably getting released next year to save money. Might as well see if we can get a return for them this year... -
I’m thinking it’s a Foles, Minshew, or Dalton backup with a possibility of Corral as 3rd or practice squad.

The OSU QB thing is way overblown. OSU hasn’t used a pro offense until just recently with Ryan Day. There have only been 4 total QBs taken in the 1st round from OSU. One is from the 1940s and died in war before he could play, one busted but in 1983, then you have Haskins and Fields. No rookie qb could succeed where Fields is at and Haskins was all mental. So 4 in what 80 years makes an average of one every couple decades and one didn’t even get to play so it’s hard to count him.

I guess my thing is this. Young’s size can be seen as a negative or weakness towards his draft stock. Stroud having WRs that are insanely good can’t really be a negative. If anything it’s a question unanswered as how he can do with a subpar cast, but let’s not kid ourselves into thinking Young has no support at Alabama.
-
I agree with the SEC being the best conference.
-
I’ve seen him thread the needle to, but notice he always hits them in stride. His receivers being open can’t be a negative toward him though? If they were open and he was missing them then sure.
-
They won and haven’t been back to the playoffs since. Getting an elite QB is the most important thing in sustained success. A good coach is obviously important as well.
-
Why is Stroud Haskins? Haskins was a lazy one year wonder. Stroud has been dominate for several years and is a natural leader for his teammates.
-
Yeah probably. Definitely not an ideal size, especially for a top 5 pick.
-
Yeah and Murray didn’t hit a growth spurt? I’m confident a NFL personal trainer can add 15 pounds to a 20 year old athlete if they wanted/needed to in a couple years.
-
He is like a 20 year old man. You don’t think he can add 15 pounds to his frame?
-
He is able to evade pressure and get the ball out quickly. Ran a 4.4 40 at his pro-day. Has amazing mobility - only equaled in modern times by Mike Vick. Truly exceptional https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Bryce-Young-QB-Alabama

That’s not really a fair comparison then. Young could bulk up the same after a few years in the league.
-
Ok I got it. Yeah he just scrambled around to buy time for the pass apparently.
-
I know. That’s what I’m saying. He stays in the pocket and slings it at OSU. He has speed and quickness when he needs it though. He definitely isn’t slow, just not asked to run at OSU.
-
I see Murray at 5’10” 194 and Young at 6’ 194 when I Google it. I’m sure Young is really 5’11” and some change.
-
Why do you think Young is a better QB? Last time I checked Stroud had the better rating and hasn’t even been asked to use his legs at OSU. Imagine what he could do if a team opens up his running ability too.
-
I’d be more comfortable with Young if we had a late 1st pick. Picking him at 1 or the top 5 with the size concerns would be too much of a risk for me.
