  1. Oh I agree, but if they could elevate our team’s play and have them competitive then that could set them up for a nice job in the near future. Rhule would almost certainly be going back to college, so it’s irrelevant for him to keep coaching at that point.
  2. What we currently have is the best long term play. If Rhule is willing to do this in a must win season then I’m all for it. Making Icky play a new position because it’s easier and provides better play in the present would be a short term play IMO.
  3. At least give an assistant a chance to audition for another team. The Raiders interm coach was in a tough spot and snuck them in the playoffs. Leaving Rhule in for laughs would be fair to his staff or players.
  4. I’m confused. Was it not already announced Icky would be our starting LT? BC is getting looks at LG, where he has looked solid AND that a position where he can have a longer term starting gig on this team as Moton and Icky should have our tackle positions locked down. If they want to flip Icky and BC, it doesn’t really matter to me but if they like them where they are at it makes the most sense since that’s Icky’s long term position (hopefully).
  5. Which would set us up for a nice coach and nice QB prospect next year. Not necessarily a bad thing right?
  6. Willis has an advantage in athletic ability alone. He is using that to compensate for not going to progressions. He just competed less than half his passes and took 3 sacks against the Bucs backups. He was also pulled from the first game for running too much and not throwing. Sure it can look good in preseason where defenses are running vanilla schemes, but I’m not sure he is ready to play this year either. Also the Titans are known to only carry 2 QBs so they are trying to get Willis as their backup out of necessity. We need to stop thinking of Corral as a first round pick because he is not one. Mahomes, Lance, and Rodgers were going to get their chance to play no matter what after what was invested in them. Corral is a project 3rd round QB who has a high ceiling, but he is a project. He fell to the 3rd because teams knew he needed a while to learn and develop.
  7. Analysts- Corral needs a year to sit. Corral drops to the 3rd accordingly. Panthers Coaches- This can basically be a redshirt year for Corral. Then they trade for a starting QB. Matt Corral- States there is still a lot for him to learn. -Corral plays in preseason and looks like a rookie that’s not ready to play (as projected) in the NFL yet. Huddle’s response- Wasted pick! Rhule ruined his career!!!
  8. I don’t understand why he wasn’t fired last year, but at this point we might as well see what he can do with a seasoned staff and capable QB. Basically he has no excuses this year. It may work out good for us Panthers’ fans because if he sucks again our new coach should get a high pick in what looks to be a loaded QB class.
  9. It’s more annoying that Rhule’s tomfoolery. Let’s go ahead and address some things before they meltdown again. -Myles Garrett is probably going to dominate Icky in his first game. This should be expected as Garrett dominates many solid LTs. -Icky is going to take his lumps as a rookie and may struggle at pass protection from time to time. Hopefully he will show some flashes and be playing at a high level by season end.
  10. Will you please read the preseason recap I posted from his rookie year. He played RT in that game. It’s where he was drafted to play and it’s the reps he took. He graded 27. That’s awful and the article was asking if he was the right pick. The whole point is to display how silly it is to freak out and call a player a bad pick after a preseason game. I remember Chase dropping balls and favs freaking out in Cincinnati. Let’s just let him play this season and see how he develops.
  11. The only scenario where we wouldn’t draft a QB would be one where Baker lights it up and gets an extension. If Baker struggles we probably have a bad record and Rhule could be fired. New coach drafts his guy and Corral competes with the rookie (probably won’t beat out a first round pick IMO).
  12. https://lionswire.usatoday.com/2021/06/01/lions-moving-penei-sewell-left-tackle-to-right-tackle-recent-nfl-history-tackle-side-changes-saints-browns/ He was drafted for the sole purpose of being their RT where he had reps/practiced. That’s where he lined up in that preseason game he struggled. He did have to switch during the actual season to LT (a position he played his whole college career) and struggled off and in with that. You are complaining about Icky struggling in a PRESEASON game. The same type of game Sewell struggled as a rookie last year in the position he was drafted to play. Icky was also just named the starting LT before the game and has had reps in practice as LG also. -Just because you start a paragraph with “facts” doesn’t make it true.
  13. I just can’t get over people overreacting to a preseason game in the first place. Much less one where our bench played their starters for half of it…
  14. https://www.prideofdetroit.com/platform/amp/2021/8/30/22647227/preseason-overreactions-penei-sewell-only-detroit-lions-rookie-struggling The good news we can just pull the articles from last year. He graded out a 27 in pass protection in his preseason game. It’s funny because they are asking if he is going to be a bust just like you are with Icky.
  15. https://www.panthers.com/news/camp-confidential-episode-2022-baker-mayfield-sam-darnold-christian-mccaffrey go to 22:09 and check out Baker calling out Corral for his big feet. He knew an injury was coming (joking). Seriously though Corral injured his foot in college too and does seem to have large feet for his size. I hope it’s not a reoccurring injury…
  16. Yeah he is learning his feet better be set on every block in this league. NFL safeties can hit harder than college linebackers.
  17. So in what was regarded as a deep LT draft, we take the top rated one and all 4 of the top 4 are busts because they struggle in preseason? Would you have swapped Sewell to guard when he struggled last year? Turns out he developed in a good tackle.
  18. I’ve already posted how all 3 of the top LTs are struggling early this preseason and Penning (4th one drafted) allowed 3 sacks in preseason game one. Sewell struggled in the preseason last year. Icky is projected to be a great LT and people/analysts loved the pick. If you want to freak out and call it a wasted pick after a preseason fans go right ahead and prepare yourself for a long season of overreacting.
  19. Also does look like Ryan or Goff played in Detroit vs Colts. There are also still a lot of games that haven’t been played yet.
  20. I know Brady has something weird going on. Didn’t realize Stafford is hurt?
  21. I don’t think Russ, Brady, Stafford, Rodgers, or Winston played just off the top of my head.
  22. With a struggling franchise at the time. Got Kap to the Super Bowl!
  23. I would love Jim Harbaugh!
  24. I don’t care for Rhule, but Corral was never in the running for the starting or backup role. This is his redshirt year. They handled it accordingly. The PJ thing is the most confusing too me.
