Corral has great tools (release, arm strength, quickness), but the concern with him and most other QBs in this recent class is that they will need time to adjust to the NFL. The offense ran at Ole Miss doesn't translate as well as it does in the NFL. If he put up those numbers in a Pro Style Offense he probably would have been drafted sooner. Hopefully it works out in our advantage, but many scouts/analysts were wanting Corral, Willis, and Howell to sit for at least a year before they are ready which appears to be what we are doing unless he just dominates early like Russ did in Seattle. I still think when it's all said and done Darnold might be traded and we could be rolling with Baker with Corral backing him up.

Are there people who hate on DJ Moore? The man racks up 1000 yard seasons with some terrible QB play...
-
Yep. It's the reason why an "open competition" isn't really the best option for these players. Darnold will look good in practice and poo the bed when it's game time. We all know this and we know Baker is at least a capable starting QB in this league. The only competition should be Baker vs Corral. We know what Sam is.

Did you get off the Strong bandwagon? You weren't this obsessed with Corral until after the draft. It was constant Strong posts over and over and over again....

I think you will find most people on here like Corral and want him to succeed. Best case scenario is he is our future at QB and plays at a high level.

Injuries are a hard thing to predict. However it sounds like they are just being smart right now and holding him out as a precaution from soreness. I wouldn’t worry too much yet… -
Corral and Baker and going to end up fist fighting on the sidelines while Sam is flipping a water bottle trying to get it to land right.

Big Play Bene was never the same after that plus an injury or two...

bye bye PJ unless they trade off Sam (while eating most of his salary).

Baker's response to the "QB Competition"

No doubt. One can reroute your career as a QB. Warner did a nice video on how important your non throwing should is for balance in accuracy though. Throw this in with the fact he also injured his planting foot, it definitely affected his on field performance and he probably shouldn't have played through those injuries last year. It may have worked out in our favor though if he can get back to 2020 form.

If we bring in Dunlap, Huddlers will be pissed he is taking away snaps from YGM and might help us win too many games but not enough to matter. If we don't bring in Dunlap Huddlers will be mad we have no depth at DE and are banking on YGM outside of Burns. -Which one will it be???

Yeah... Let's move up in the draft to take a QB who never lived up to his hype in college. Looks great in hindsight, but who knows how Herbert would have faired behind our OL and coaching staff. This same guy hyped up Trask last year and Strong (undrafted) this year.

With as deep of a class as 2023 is speculated to be, one should be there when we are drafting. Remember if we are letting Baker walk he didn't perform to a top level which means we will be middle of the pack or higher drafting.
