Corral with CMC would be fun to watch. He played well against top competition as well. It’s such a hard position to judge.

The OG they signed Corbett (I believe) has sustained success at OG for several years and it young so he got a multiple year deal. Bozeman was a OG who slid over to C last year with the Ravens and found success. That’s a short resume so he got a cheap one year deal. If he plays great he can get extended, if not we can move on. Woods has been a good safety for several years and got a 3 year deal. Foreman looked good filling in for Henry but was a free agent before they picked him up. One year deal makes sense. Hekker is a 3 time Pro Bowl punter so he got a multi year deal. Jackson is proven, multiple year deal. These are logical moves. Paying money for Erving because we can play LT, LG, or C decent but none well was a dumb Rhule move. Overpaying for Elf who was below average and couldn’t stay healthy was a dumb Rhule move. As a whole this year is making more logical sense for FAs, is that Rhule? I doubt it, but if it is then he is learning.

That’s the hope. Hopefully Rhule doesn’t get to trade for a vet and Fitt plus the scouts get to draft one or wait until next year. Hopefully Tepper steps in this time and let’s the right guy make the call for the long term good of the franchise…

The FAs we signed weren’t the traditional “Rhule” guys we signed in the last. OL that can play multiple spots, Temple/Baylor guys etc… We have targeted solid OL and gave them reasonable contacts. This time last year we were bitching about Elf and Erving. Either Rhule is learning or someone else is making these calls. One year contracts are not a bad thing. It gives us a chance to see if that player can be good in our system then we can negotiate an extension accordingly.

He is talking about decisions related to the Panthers. What he has done outside the organization isn’t really relevant to us here on the Panther’s board.

Judging by the decent FA signings, I’d say Rhule has lost a portion of his power with roster control and hopefully it carries to the draft. Thank you! I swear people on here are acting like QBs that run aren’t capable of throwing. Murray, and Lamar are great passers and were in college. There is a guy on here that was saying Cam couldn’t pass well/ran too much and that’s why we never had back to back winning seasons (a stat that existed long before Cam arrived in Charlotte). I can’t figure out where this nonsense is coming from. Kyler Murray can throw and read defenses as can Lamar Jackson which is why they are successful in this league.

Just read the man's draft profiles. He had accuracy issues in college and was properly developed by Buffalo. Ok now you are just throwing poo at a wall to see what sticks. Josh Allen had a 56.2% completion rate against weak competition in college. Willis is at 62.7%, but at least you tried… kind of…

Makes you wonder if a team like the Saints figured this out and that’s why that made that trade. That can potentially grab their top QB and a LT in the first now. Plus they will probably get a first next year from the Cowboys for Sean Peyton.

Pickett is perhaps the “safest” and needs the least amount of development. That might make the most sense because we aren’t the best at developing. However Howell has a higher ceiling and (in theory) can be had later in the draft. That makes the risk easier to take and puts him on a cheaper contract. Throw in the extra draft pick or two and I’m rolling with Howell all day!

Fields is more developed as a passer with just as much upside. Sauce is a wash with Horn IMO.

You are blaming CAM for never having back to back winning seasons??? Wow. How many decent LTs did Cam have? Who was his best WR aside from rookie year Smith when he broke 4000 passing yards? How many back to back winning seasons did Stafford have on the Lions. It’s amazing what happens when a talented QB goes to a sound organization that puts talent all around him. Take away Stafford’s OL, elite defense, and weapons the Rams provided him and he can’t win a playoff game. Surround him with talent and he wins the Super Bowl. It’s why we have guys like Foles, Flaco, and old Manning winning. Now we have the Ravens letting their center (who just had a great year) walk for a cheap one year contract. You have to build a OL around these QBs once you get one. It’s the same argument you say about the Panthers. We have to draft OL to give our QB success. The first thing Brady did when he came out if retirement is get his center back on the team.

If you look at his 21 season it’s not even bad really. It’s just down compared to HIS previous year and it’s not hard to see why after watching some tape. Throws one of the best deep balls in the class and is pretty accurate with the ball. He is willing to go to battle for his team and seems to be a gym rat. I like how he was most excited to show scouts how he has been working on his footwork at his Pro Day. Little things like that will go a long way in the NFL. Taking OL aside, if our options are Willis/Pickett at 6 or Howell later plus another 1st/2nd &3rd/whatever we acquire in the trade down it’s a no brainer to me. I’ve heard some scouts down on his throwing motion, but that can be tweaked/adjusted by NFL coaches and staff. If they are saying his is Baker minus the personality issues plus faster on his feet then I’ll take that all day.

Honestly the more I think about it, the more I’d like a trade down and draft Howell. He has proven he can be great with average OL play and some weapons like he did in 2020 and was ranked as a top pick before the season. Even with his OL collapsing and weapons going pro he did put up solid numbers and kept UNC somewhat competitive. You also get a young local talent at QB to get the fans excited plus whatever you can add from the trade down. One could argue Howell is as good as any other QB in this class.

Looks like he has one win. That’s one more that pocket passer Stafford until he turned what? 33? Then he went to a loaded team and won a Super Bowl.

A RB with more passing yards than Allen his final year? A RB with the similar passing yards Cam had his year at Auburn? If you don’t like the prospect I can understand that. He still needs to be developed and from Liberty to NFL is a huge talent gap. I honestly think he is better off not coming here because I don’t think we are the team to develop him. Because the QBs with the top rushing yards of all time aren’t considered “running” QBs. It’s a dumb argument to single out a select few QBs. Willis did what Howell did last year. He ran after his first read because his OL was crumbling. Cam was a running QB that took a weak offense the Super Bowl and was let down by his bad OL trying to stop an elite defense. You can win with both. Willis has the strongest arm in this class and you don’t think the team that drafts him wants to take advantage of that? He should be used like a Allen, McNair, Cam, or McNabb was. These QBs with a ton of rushing yards have those yards typically because that’s what their OC calls to take advantage of their full set of skills. We had specific running plays called for Cam like Buffalo does for Allen and Baltimore for Lamar. All QBs with decent careers in the NFL can throw from the pocket fine (especially MVPs). They will just run the plays their coaches are calling. I know you are a Pickett fan and I think he is a good prospect as well. I’m just not going to discredit a player like Willis because he had to run to make plays on an offense with a weak OL and questionable talent around him. Malik had similar passing yards as Cam did at Auburn with 3 less passing TDs. He can pass the ball just needs some more developing.

Loaded teams win Super Bowls. The QBs have been Flaco, Foles, old Peyton, and Stafford who couldn’t win a playoff game with his old team. They gave Russ (who was a runner) an elite defense and he won one. You definitely have to be able to throw/read defenses but this myth that only pocket passers win the Super Bowl is silly. Why couldn’t Marino or Rivers even win one? They were great pocket passers. We can trade for Foles if you would like? He was a pocket passer who recently won.

I still think Henderson has some potential, but the fact that we gave Jackson that contract shows our staff isn’t as confident. If they were they would roll with Horn and Henderson as out starting outside CBs and add some cheap vets to step in just in case. Jackson is a little streaky, but having Horn back should let him slide over the the #2 role or line up against the speedy WRs.

Cross will be there and shouldn’t be taken at 6. I’ve seen him ranked in the 20s by scouts. He also would have trouble sliding over to OG if he struggles at LT giving him a higher bust potential.

Stroud looks great but also has some great WR talent around him. 2 first rounders and his third option looked great that last bowl game. He put up some video game numbers, but so did Fields and Haskins in that offense. Young and Stroud look good, but they have stacked teams they are playing on.
