  1. I think Howell is getting overlooked. He still had a solid year missing his weapons, with his shitty OL. Scouts are just down on him because he wasn’t as good as the year before. We saw what he can do with a couple weapons and decent OL protection and it was projecting him to be the top pick this year.
  2. https://www.espn.com/blog/carolina-panthers/post/_/id/36325/malik-willis-kenny-pickett-matt-corral-its-time-for-carolina-panthers-to-draft-a-first-round-qb?platform=amp
  3. I hope Tepper is saying Fitt/Morgan get final say and Rhule needs to worry about coaching/winning games this year to keep his job. A coach on the hot seat with roster control is a great way to cripple a franchise…
  4. The fact still remains Rhule is on the hot seat and is not going to roll out with Sam and PJ again after last year. If he grabs a OT or DE he is going to do something stupid like trade back into the first or trade for Baker/Jimmy G and possibly extend them. Yes this class is seen as “weak” because there is no top guy. Most scouts have first round grades on 3 (some 4) of these QBs and QBs will always be overdrafted. If you are sitting back and waiting for one to fall into right where you see him projected it may never happen. If they think one of these guys can be a franchise QB then I have no problem with them drafting one. As a fan of this team I would love some intrigue/excitement versus then trying to force Sam/PJ down our throats again. We all know how that story goes and I don’t want Rhule using any future picks on acquiring a vet or getting back into round 1. As the Cardinals already showed us, it’s easy to move on from a drafted QB if it even comes to that. So drafting one gives me excitement/hope as a fan and I think helps keep Rhule from ruing next year’s draft for our potential new coach. I won’t get mad if we draft a OL because that’s another top valued position we always ignore. However, these guys are guaranteed to be elite either. Neal may be seen as more of a RT (which we don’t need), Icky may struggle against speedy pass rushers (something every team has in the NFL), and I’ve seen Cross drop the to 20s because he isn’t fully developed in run blocking. Penning is a small school guy so there is a huge talent gap.
  5. What physical advantages does Pickett have on Corral? 1 inch of height and 5 pounds? I don’t think he is faster or has a stronger arm…
  6. Is not having a 2nd this year is killing us. I think it would cost too much and cripple us next draft. Possibly 23 and 24’s 1st plus a 2nd (23) and our 4th. I’m for getting a rookie QB with one 1st or even trading down and drafting one, but future 1st and 2nds would be too much IMO.
  7. You may not be high on them, but they apparently have 3 with first round grades. Is a first round graded QB worth the 6th pick? I guess it depends on how high of a first round grade they have on them. I think this class is fine, just missing the number one overall prospect in a Andrew Luck, Joe Burrow, Trevor Lawrence. If it had one of those it was be on par with any average class. Since we aren’t picking 1st and I don’t want Rhule trading away any future picks it’s really in our favor there is no top pick or the Jags would probably fleece us for it. I like Willis, Pickett, Corral, and Howell as QB prospects. Do they have weaknesses? Yeah, so do most draft picks. Even this “great” OL class has plenty of weaknesses. No one still knows who the Jags are picking at 1 because there isn’t a “perfect” prospect in this draft. Drafting a QB will make this season more intriguing and prevent Rhule from screwing over the new coach next year by trading away capital for one or spending next year’s money to extend one we trade for in Jimmy G or Mayfield. A rookie QB is cheap and can be easily replaced if our new staff isn’t impressed. It’s a win/win in my book. Damage control plus not having to suffer another season of Darnold with no competition.
  8. I wouldn’t hate it! OR we can just keep building a team for the next 15 years or so and wait for Chosen Newton!
  9. The “top class in a decade” has a worse rookie season than the previous with Burrow and Herbert. Waiting until next year is a gamble like everything else in the draft.
  10. It’s a good feeling. Tingling in all the right places!
  11. Yeah I’ve mentioned this to the “next year’s class” crew, but it seems to fall on deaf ears…
  12. And he had that Ole Miss team super competitive against top competition. I remember when they came to Knoxville (where I live) and were missing several starters on offense, Kiffin (who UT hates) just responded with “We have Corral we’ll be ok.” Also if we are looking for a new coach next year we can bring on Kiffin to further develop him! (Kidding, kind of…)
  13. Yeah plus Cam wasn’t HIS guy. Cam was a Panther long before Rhule was and Rhule seems a little narcissistic and wants to be the guy who found/developed our next QB.
  14. Willis is my favorite QB in this draft, but IF we could trade back and still get Corral that has to be a huge win. How exiting would Corral and CMC be in our backfield. That quick release can get him the ball in a blink of an eye or he can play action strike it right to Moore!
  15. He is just being open. Favre has a serious alcohol and pill problem as I’m sure many other players have. Speaking openly about it is a huge sign of maturity and good for young people that have gone through similar issues to hear.
  16. If that’s we we get back it would be a very short drop from the trade. Like from 6 to 8/9. If we have a first round grade on a QB we feel is our guy why trade down and risk someone else drafting him. If we lose our guy trying to get a 2nd/3rd back we traded for Darnold/Henderson that would be the ultimate fail…
  17. I think our new OL is going to help. I can see some second level blocking preventing extra hits on him.
  18. This is my thought. Darnold plus LT at 6 and we still suck on offense. A rookie QB at least gives us hope and intrigue on offense. Rhule is going to change up the QB spot. A rookie might be the easiest to recover from as well…
  19. I guess my point is QBs like The Golden Calf of Bristol can’t last in the league period. You have to be able to throw as well. He lasted what 2-3 years? I think Vick was a better passer than he is getting credit for the Falcons just didn’t develop him. Andy Reid turned him into a much better passer. So the whole thing is weird and kind of pointless. Is there a QB that has played 10 plus years that couldn’t throw the ball?? It’s like saying QBs than can’t read defenses don’t win Super Bowls. Well yeah they don’t make it period..
  20. I wouldn’t be totally against signing Baker for cheap if the Browns release him. I just don’t want to trade away any picks or take on his full salary. Baker with Neal/Cross at 6 would greatly improve our offense and we can get a comp for him if we let him walk next year and draft our guy.
