If we take Pickett or a QB we kind of have to bank on BC at LT. Sign a solid FA Guard like Tomlinson or the guy from WFT. If we could sneak a mid level guy like Norwell that would be nice and draft a couple in the later rounds to compete with Brown. BC, FA, Elf, Brown/4th or 5th rounder/Moton with a better OL coach (as already stated) should be serviceable with some potential upside in the development of BC, Brown, rookie. It’s not great, but a huge improvement still.

Definitely makes sense, but will someone want to trade up in that scenario? The 3 elite LTs and 2 pass rushers might be gone.

I mean either he is making these hires, or he no longer has full control like before. So either he is growing in his position or the organization is growing and changing the structure of power. Either one is a win of sorts.

I mean there are a couple assistant coaches that will make good interms if it comes down to it. Part 2 will be if Rhule actually listens to their input or not. Let McAdoo and Fitts scout out some QBs, let your OL coach look at FAs and draft picks etc…
-
Maybe he tried it his way, saw it didn’t work and is adapting?
-
They seem to be making good hires this time around. Maybe Rhule is learning?

Too young.

Except us with Cam… We can be a pretty frustrating franchise.

So much experience!

So the Jags have a better coach, QB, and OL (soon enough) than us by a pretty wide margin…. I’m actually jealous of the Jags right now.

If Pickett is there, we need to trade down with the Steelers

I would have been pissed because I wanted Fields. -
Needs his fiber first.

You wanted experience, here is an old guy!

Yeah as good as it looks, I don’t see a team trading up for Leal…

There was no way for him to show improvement on that in the Senior Bowl Practices. I know he had a poo OL and not much talent to work with at Liberty and still beat Syracuse, VA Tech, won a shoot out against McCall (who people are wanting) at Coastal. Yeah he looked bad against Ole Miss and that SEC defense, but I’m not sure what he could have done given what he was working with.

https://www.profootballnetwork.com/2022-senior-bowl-practice-risers-sliders-final/ They stated that Howell and Willis looked great at practice. He did say Malik started off with some fastballs but settled down quickly. WOW was posting these practice clips/comments as they were happening. -The practice is more important than the game. Ok here is where Willis dominated practice. He only looked good because the others sucked. I understand you not wanting a QB this year. There is no clear cut favorite QB and our line needs a lot of work. Plus Rhule is still our coach. However, you can’t change the narrative of Willis crushing the practices. He did what he needed to do.

Worst Kept Secret at the Senior bowl (Panthers Interest in Pickett)
ForJimmy replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
He will have them measured before the draft. Honestly it’s just trolling them at this point. Burrow’s are 9 Pickett’s will probably be 8.5 and everyone will freak out. -
If you are looking at practices, Willis stole the show. We had a few threads of nothing but praise about him. They were calling day 2 “Willis Day.”

That would mean a great coach realizes they have potential to be a good QB in this league though? These guys are all busts remember?

I really would consider anyone’s Senior Bowl performance into much consideration. You have a week to practice with all new players and staff and a lot of the OL didn’t show up, instantly collapsing on Howell (he is probably use to that). The Senior Bowl is just another version of the combine with interviews and practices for coaches to get to see these players up close. If you are going by performances (which I wouldn’t) Pickett was had 0 incompletions and a TD. I think Howell and Willis have some good traits that could translate well in the NFL. Pickett could be solid too. They all need coaching/development which is pretty normal. Last year’s loaded class didn’t look so hot their rookie year (outside of Mac). Willis and Howell have both been mentioned as film room guys, but when the line falls backwards on you they couldn’t really go through progressions and develop further. They had to force throws and run a lot more putting the team on their backs. They still had decent seasons all things considered. My best case scenario would be a trade down and walk away with Howell/Willis (I know that’s probably not going to happen). Just wait the Steelers will take one of these QBs like the Pats did last year and we will be whining stating they went to a perfect scenario when they start looking good.

He would do well there IMO.
