Deshaun Watson said no thanks to Carolina Panthers

This isn’t news. Of course he doesn’t want to come here now and neither did Stafford. Luckily Watson just saved the Panthers from themselves. Also this should be alarming to Tepper that we are in year 3 of Rhule’s rebuild and star players are refusing to come here. Even ones with legal issues… -
QB options Ellis Willams Charlotte Observer
ForJimmy replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Switch Darnold for Mariotta and beef up our OL with FA and draft picks and we will make a huge leap in offense. By huge leap I mean from incompetent to slightly below average. If CMC stays healthy (big if) we should be middle of the pack offense IMO. -
Ok hear me out, we sign Mitch, Glennon, trade for Daniel Jones, and draft Hartman. All North Carolina schools are covered.

I would just prefer Mariotta or Mitch as cheap bridge QBs. We had it lined up with Teddy honestly. We should have been rolling with Teddy last year why Fields (who we should have drafted was developing). Then we would have our 2nd round pick to use with our 1st to draft 2 starting OL (not to mention an extra 18.5 million in cap space) Think Cross/BA Guard in the 2nd. Oh what could have been….. -
Nailed the first rounder and………. that’s about it.
-
Cross should be the pick if it falls like that…

He is going to take the side of the billionaire owner. He has a thing for them….

Panthers Vet QB options: A snip from the athletic

Honestly that works too. -

Sure but at what cost? Mariotta and Mitch should hopefully be cheaper placeholders. Going all in for a vet at our current state is a bad move IMO. Draft one or draft OL and just get a cheap younger placeholder with a little upside and continue the search. -
If we draft a QB, I want Carson Strong
ForJimmy replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
I like Strong, but the grinder/high IQ should apply to most first round QBs unless they are just in a league of their own with intangibles. Sure there are some that don’t prep/work on their craft, but most have to in order to make it this far. -

Kayvon Thibodeaux??? How you feeling if he was the pick?
ForJimmy replied to Basbear's topic in 2015 NFL Draft
Our offense needs so much help… I would be disgruntled if we continued to ignore it. -

Yuck. Maybe Minshew for very cheap, outside of that give me Mariotta or Mitch over those guys. -

I know Willis is your guy. Who else do you like in this QB class. I’m probably (In order) Willis, Howell, Pickett, Corral/Strong, Ridder with a strong curiosity on Glass. -

I don’t think anyone wants Strong at 6. It would be a trade down or 2nd rounder we some how gain. -

Cousins is a solid QB, but does us no good based on where we are in the rebuild. We are many pieces away from being a contender. We need a young QB that we can develop with this team. Trading away valuable assets for a solid-mid tier QB who is up in age and contract does us no good. We are honestly better off as a franchise drafting OL and letting Darnold play again. Cousins brings us to 7-8 wins in a desperate attempt for Rhule to keep his job. -

Yeah, but comparing to other injuries and labeling it degenerative would all be speculation at this point. -

https://steelersdepot.com/2022/02/the-doctor-is-in-what-to-make-of-carson-strongs-knee-issue/ There is a doctor’s opinion on it. It was a 70% tear that usually takes 2 surgeries to clean up. The swelling is common and expected from early stresses of playing. She thinks the longevity of the knee is pretty high. It will get the full treatment of when the NFL doctors give it a look. Strong’s knee and Pickett’s hand size will definitely give us some answers soon. -

Oh ok just guessing then. I haven’t read it anywhere, just curious.
