Easy fix here, draft Bryce Young and hire Ken Dorsey
ForJimmy replied to GOAT's topic in Carolina Panthers
Oh no doubt, but he has also played Florida A&M, APP St, and Georgia St. I'm curious to see how he does against an average defense if they play any this year. -

Against who? So did Sam Howell 2 years ago... Trying to plan for a QB 2 years away isn't a good idea. -

New HC/GM and draft a QB in the top 10 is the quickest way to fix this mess. Trade away the expensive assets like CMC and if we can get a return for RA/Shaq (otherwise cut them). We should have a decent OL for a young QB to learn behind plus DJ Moore and some cheap young WRs in TMJ and Shi. We have a rough year next year, but after that the cap doesn't look too bad. -

Young has some great arm talent and with recent successes of Murray and Russ in today’s NFL I’d imagine he still gets drafted early. I don’t believe Leak was even drafted. Leak didn’t have that great of an arm. Weak arm for the NFL plus small frame is a bad combo. -

Don’t call this team sorry! Stop being a fake fan with that negative energy…. -
So he would struggle behind our starting OL against another starting defense with equal or greater talent? Good to know…

Sean Payton to coach in 2023 for the right team
ForJimmy replied to Ja Rhule's topic in Carolina Panthers
He will be 59 turning 60 next year. It’s clear he wants to get into broadcasting to me. So I’m having trouble seeing how he is a long term solution? He was great with the Saints but retired after only one season without Brees in which he went 9-8 and missed the playoffs (lost to Darnold and Rhule also). What makes anyone think he wont leave to be a broadcaster after a year or two without instant success. Now do we trust Tepper and Fitt not to get crushed by NO in a trade for their HC? We are almost certainly going to have a high draft pick (that should be used on a QB) that NO will gladly take off our hands plus more. I think Tampa gave up 2 firsts and a second plus money to get Gruden from a team they rarely face. So we would have Sean Payton with no QB, no cap space (2023), and no draft picks. How long before he leaves that mess after a losing season or two? -

Yep. Young franchise QB, great pieces on the OL, several weapons in Ekler, Allen, and WIlliams. PLUS a defense featuring Mack, Bosa, James, and JC Jackson. LAC GM has done a great job. -

LAC would be smart. They are loaded. -

This is what everyone keeps ignoring. The Saints will crush us in a trade to acquire Sean Peyton. I'm not wanting to trade away 1st rounds picks to acquire and old coach who might retire again in a year or two if things get tough. Much less one that was in charge during bounty gate. Give me a younger eager coach with some experience plus our top pick to draft our new QB. -
https://www.foxsports.com/nfl/matt-corral-player-stats?category=passing&seasonType=pre In his limited action before IR Corral was 41.67% accurate in the NFL. He was behind a 3rd string OL playing against a 3rd string defense. If he wasn't hurt I wouldn't be against getting his feet wet at the end of the season and seeing if he can get better.

I really hope they do not move Icky anywhere. He is struggling with the mental aspect of the position and needs reps, reps, and more reps at his natural position.

It appears he wants an experienced coordinator that hasn’t been a HC yet to me. -

We go through this every year. Howell and Rattler were suppose to be the top of a solid class. “Tank for Howell” then after the season it was the 2023 class is loaded! Now it’s look at the USC and UNC QB the next year… We can literally do this every year. If we wait long enough we can just draft Chosen Newton! -
That’s kind of what I call average. You can win with them under the right coaching/schemes, but they won’t carry a team. Jimmy G would be one as well. I disagree with the Darnold comparison though. He has never been able to secure the ball and read a defense. Not at USC, NYJ, or here. His numbers got worse with time in the pocket and he is a turnover machine.
-
That’s pretty much how I feel. Teams can win with Baker, but he can’t carry teams.

The last place team drafted him. They were literally the worst team in the league when they drafted him. My point is they were not a good team when they drafted him. Bottom of the league. A team that had struggled to make the playoffs and have any sort of stability with Hugh Jackson as their HC drafted him. He broke rookie records and looked solid. He sucked under Kitchens and looked good the following year. Why would Cleveland not just draft a QB? Throw away 3 first round picks and give $250 million to a guy who is a sexual predator and will miss 11 games?? Think about it. Watson has a ton of talent and franchises like US, the Falcons (who lost Matt Ryan over it), and the Saints were willing to go all in on this player. Like I said he is average IMO. Average can't outplay bad coaching/schemes. I assumed average was better than Darnold and McAdoo (who was an ok OC) would be a step up from Brady/whoever filled in when he was fired.
-
I'd still say he is average. Looked solid as a rookie on the worst team in the league and had a good year in 2020 (yes with a solid roter). I was expecting a step forward not a savior, but damn we might be going backwards. It's getting clear that our players have little faith in Rhule and Co. Defensive players used incorrectly, lack of presnap motion on offense, only using 3 WRs, shuffling QBs and OL during TC and preseason. It's a joke...
-
I don't even know who his top WR is and he does get sacked a lot. If we drafted him Rhule would probably have him looking the same if not worse.
-
Not Fields... damn it. I was so high on him. He is still pretty young but that's a bad stat.
-
I would think/HOPE Tepper has told them no extensions this year. Rhule isn't going to make it to next year.
-
There is no way he said that to a legit source. Even if he believed it he wouldn't want the players knowing it. Also why would he take this job knowing that?? Surely he researched the team before he took the job.

I think it's really hard to tell how talented our roster is because our coaches haven't been able to use the talent correctly or develop it. -Chinn was a great rookie LB and got moved to FS (he is still on the roster and has talent). -Horn, DJax, and Henderson all have physical talent, but should be man corners not this soft zone poo I have been seeing this year. -Burns is a solid pass rusher who is dropping back in coverage on 3rd and long. That's prime time for a sack and they have taken that away from him. -Brown flashes, but he has been the only player on the DL that is halfway decent at stopping the run. When he is playing bad he looks like he is trying to hard and getting out of his lane to overcompensate for the lesser talent around him -Shaq is a talented yet overpaid LB who looks like he has regressed so far this year. Woods is also a decent safety On offense we have arguable the best RB in the league, a QB who has shown he can help take a team to the playoffs, and a great WR in Moore. We have other WRs like TMJ and Higgins that our staff is refusing to let get any playing time. We have a great RT, BC looks the part of LG, Corbett is an average RG, and we just took Icky in the top 10 who everyone seemed to be on board with. Sorry for the long post, but our roster is good enough to win these games, but our coaching is killing us. It's hard to get a real value on these players when our coaches don't know how to use them correctly.
