Hopefully he will get some sponsorships in Nashville and plays well enough to still get paid. Seems like a genuinely nice, smart man. Wish him the best unless he is playing Carolina.

If we are in the top 5/10 range and there is a solid prospect there I think we take him. Don’t let the 3rd round guy cause us to miss on another prospect unless he some how proves he is the guy his rookie year which is highly unlikely. If they both turn out great we can flip the lesser for picks.
-
It’s not a bad idea if we are high on a prospect that’s available when we are picking. I wanted us to draft Fields after we signed Darnold. Having several good young QBs isn’t a bad thing.
-
Oh yeah. Plenty of QBs drop in the draft after an additional year of play. Jordan Love and Jake Locker are a couple aside from Rattler/Howell off the top of my head. The constant wait until next year guys are playing a dangerous game.

I’ve constantly had this debate. Next year’s class looks good, but a lot can happen in one season like this past year… There are a lot of unknowns like where we are picking and how they play next year.

Round 3 Pick 94: Panthers Select Matt Corral - QB Ole Miss
ForJimmy replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think Sam starts the first half and Corral comes in once we are eliminated from the playoffs. Also most if not all rookie QBs don’t know the system. They have to learn it or coaches run a simplified version through their first few games. -

It’s not that bad really. If Detroit took him at 32 (day one), I don’t think people would call it a reach. Simms had a late 1st/early 2nd grade on him. -

I get where you are coming from and there are definitely two theories on developing these young QBs. One being what you are saying and throw them out there and let them learn as they develop because our team isn’t going to be a playoff team as it sits with Darnold. The other is to sit back and let them learn the mental aspect of the game. Let our new OL gel and learn to play together for a 5-8 weeks or so while bringing in Corral for a couple plays here and there to learn the speed of the game and then play him when our team is more stable and he is more ready mentally. Also if we have a top 5 pick and Corral hasn’t had much playing time, a 3rd round QB shouldn’t stop us from drafting our guy next year. Let Corral develop in a great backup with upside or even trade him. -

Our staff had a day one grade on him. They are expecting more than a backup out of him. I’m not saying they are right, but I expect him to replace Sam before the season is over because Sam might not even be a solid backup. -
The GM should get final say over the head coach for draft picks. Hopefully that is the way it went down.

Why do you care at this point? He is on Washington and seems like a solid guy. Wish him to best except when they play us.

CBS Sports gives Carolina a C- for the Draft

He got Wilson in the 3rd right? Hmm -
Hell yeah. His dad played OL too he was solid on UT’s OL. His brother was also starter with him.

If only there was an available RPO expert QB to mentor Corral....

Chris Simms top QB is Matt Corral and why you should listen

Hugh Freeze? I believed he coached Ole Miss a while ago and go in some trouble right? -

You me and a lot of these analysts didn’t see THIS happening, so I wouldn’t worry about it. Predicting/guessing is part of the fun! -
Yeah the commentator on NFL Network called it wrong. It threw me off too…
-
We swapped two picks. Our 2 5ths for their 4th and 6th. Fourth rounders are usually delth/ possible starters down the road. If he ends up starting we did great.
-
Ohh ok we got their 6th. Got it thanks!
-
That’s all our picks right?
-
We needed LB depth in a bad way. Do we have any picks left? It said we traded our two 5ths and 6th for that pick.

Round 3 Pick 94: Panthers Select Matt Corral - QB Ole Miss
ForJimmy replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
It’s hard to tell if it was Brady or Darnold that had our offense so predictable. The issue was defenses knew what plays we were running before the snap. That had to be Brady being too predictable, or maybe he didn’t trust Darnold to run a more complex offense. The offense he was trying to run seemed similar to Corral’s Ole Miss RPO quick reads, but that’s too simple to run in the NFL. Like you are saying hopefully McAdoo gets the keys to run the offense as he sees fit and can develop Corral into a solid QB. I love Corral’s leadership and toughness (again this can be a fault too) and I think he can toughen up our locker room and become a leader pretty fast. Darnold doesn’t have it in him to be that guy. Cam was great at it. -

Yeah good point. I think we cater an offense to fit his strengths. McAdoo likes the WCO. So I can see a lot of quick reads/passes with a few RPOs mixed in there. I would not want him running too much either as he doesn’t have the frame of a Josh Allen or Cam Newton. -
Round 3 Pick 94: Panthers Select Matt Corral - QB Ole Miss

He did it briefly at Ole Miss, but not nearly enough to show he can do it at the next level. This plus protecting his body/bulking up will be his two main obstacles to overcome in the NFL IMO.
