What Are The Chances that Christian McCaffrey Stays Healthy?
ForJimmy replied to Pantha-kun's topic in Carolina Panthers
True, but I’m sure fighting through constant contact behind the line of scrimmage contributed some wear and tear. That cut shouldn’t normally injure a person in his shape, I think all the hits did the most damage that was just the final straw needed to injure him. -

Having a big OL to keep players off him should help. If McAdoo uses him correctly (signing Foreman to supplement Hubbard gives me hope) he should hold up better this season. We really need him to help develop Corral. He is a nice safety net for a young signal caller. -
Brown could be great for our running game. Imagine the left side with Icky and Brown. That’s a lot of pounds plowing the defense out of the way!

Why not bring in someone like Nick Foles. He is a FA and could be a solid backup, maybe even start the first few games.

This is why we always need to grab an OL in the late round as well. They seem to have higher success rates than other positions in the later rounds. It looks like we might actually have some OL depth now.

His best season doesn’t equate do a good season. Where do you have him ranking in league QBR. We have hired a vet OC and OL coach, sunk a ton of capital into rebuilding our OL, he has weapons in CMC, Moore, Robbie and possibly Marshall. If he is a decent QB that should put him in the top half of the league right?
-
He tried to force it when our guys couldn’t get separation (which was higher than most teams). Pre snap reads, audibles, and knowing what the defense was doing were all things he was solid at. I love the clip where he mocks Clay Matthew’s about watching film and immediately throws a TD to CMC.

According to Scott.... QB competition between Matt and Sam
ForJimmy replied to Lurk21's topic in Carolina Panthers
Cam can also come in on certain plays like Hill for the Saints. Especially around the goal line. The only negative I could see is the locker room would get behind Cam quickly and that could make it hard for a rookie like Corral to win them over. -
That Matt Corral is so hot right now.

I think you are on to something. He thought he was going to be one of the smartest coaches in the league right away and could plug in whoever at OC/DC etc. He seems to have gotten humbled a little with hiring some experienced staff and seemed to kind of let Fitt handle the draft. Maybe can can learn/grow into a decent coach. We shall see…
-
Yeah he could also have 2000 receiving yards but it’s just very unlikely. The people that got a close look at him (our staff) were adamant about bringing in some “competition” for a reason. They have given up on him.
-
We aren't keeping Darnold past this season. Corral has the potential to get better as he gets more exposure/playing time. If it's close you play the one with the potential to get better and be part of our future.

He has seemed to have trouble staying healthy lately. So has Thomas, hell even Kamara...

On a side note are Tomlin and Ole Bill the only active coaches with more than one Super Bowl win?? -

Our offense did change when Brady left. We basically became a “run every chance we get to his our QB offense.” As bad as Rhule is, he doesn’t create our offense and call the offensive plays, that’s what our OC is for. Our offense looked a lot better when Brady had Teddy. I really think we have to dumb down the play calling for Sam. -

Not the same as Coach K to UNC as UNC has been relevant and as good as Duke lately. It would be like NC State or Wake Forest hiring Coach K or Roy Williams which you know they would in a heartbeat if it was possible. -

We will trade 3 first round picks for him then he will retire. It’s his one final F U to us for his career. -

Yeah if it involves trading for him there is no way in hell they do it and I don’t blame them. -

Oh poo! I hate him so much but would love him as our coach! -

The other option is to march out Sam again. I get not wanting to rush Corral, but it won’t take much for him to be our best option. -

Yeah Corral would get better as the season progresses (in theory). Darnold seemed to get worse last year. Maybe we were just playing tougher teams, but we know what he is and he isn’t a starting QB in this league. -
We are finally building him an OL. Let’s see if he can stay healthy behind Icky, Moton and company. Plus he provides a nice safety net for a young QB like Corral’s development.
