How the hell did Panthers lose to Saints and Falcons?
-
Top post mate

Mr. Tepper’s dream came true…. He made the Pat McAfee Show….
NAS replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Pat killed it. His points about Frank Reich were spot on -
Ridiculous. Defense can’t stop anyone in the run game and that has nothing to do with the offense. Getting gassed is a convenient excuse. Top defenses get it done
-
Exactly I am not saying “we” for anything anymore. These idiots need to own it

Bears head coach Matt Eberflus made an addition to his staff on Monday. Eberflus announced that the Bears hired Phil Snow as their defensive analyst. Eberflus has been serving as the team’s defensive coordinator since Alan Williams resigned and he said last week that he was looking to bring on an experienced coach to help on that side of the ball. Snow was the Panthers defensive coordinator under Matt Rhule from 2020 until Rhule was fired last season. Snow also ran Rhule’s defenses at Temple and Baylor, but did not join Rhule’s staff at Nebraska this year. Snow also worked as an assistant for Rod Marinelli with the Lions and Marinelli is a mentor to Eberflus. “He’ll be here Monday giving us those reports, Tuesday giving us those reports as we do our game planning, and then he’ll be certainly helpful to our defensive staff,” Eberflus said, via Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times. The Bears are 29th in points allowed and 25th in yards allowed this season, but they allowed the fewest in each category during their Week Six loss to the Vikings. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/bears-hire-phil-snow-as-a-defensive-analyst

Is it? Defense gave up 40+ points in two straight games
-
Haha that's not happening
-
It would be the Tepper thing to do
-
I think we can just say the team has not played complimentary football. It's so much about momentum and it seems when our defense needs the offense to maintain a drive or two, they're unable to do. I think since the defensive injuries it's mostly been defense that is unable to create the stops when they're really needed.
-
Through 6 games, Panthers would lead the NFC South in following categories 1. Points scored (112) 2. Points against (186) You look at our board and we focus so much on offensive problems but our defense has been extremely poor
-
6 games too late, some of us were calling for it in preseason
-
I wouldn't get my hopes up, but hopefully it will improve the rhythm of the offense and not have to wait for Reich's old ass to decide what he wants to call.
-
So you're blaming Bryce for throwing the ball away instead of taking a sack. yes he needs more time to throw because his receivers have below average separation and need more time to get open.
-
air yards or from scrimmage? air yards - clearly yes just from this chart, but from scrimmage I can't think of any
-
I saw that, much improved, just want to see some green dots 20+ yards next time. But most of that is on lack of protection
-
100%. He had to release it early
-
It's the perfect sh*tstorm 1. Bad scheme 2. Poor offensive line play 3. No true #1 WR
-
The rest of the league average sepearation is 2.94. Our top receiver was at 2.35 when he balled out. So yeah, they're not even average as a unit.
-
All things being equal which is why I also think you need adequate protection
-
True. I'm specifically focused on the 2.94 league average which we're well below.
-
I keep hearing this lame argument. What Bryce Young does need is, at the very least, have AVERAGE wide receivers and average offensive line protection. We saw yesterday what he can do given at least a window of opportunity. The image below is very telling, and you can see the one receive that does get separation he's able to find. Thielen's separation is below league average and he's able to find him. He doesn't need Tyreek Hill, maybe just one or two more average receivers who could actually play somewhere else. Let's face it, not sure that Mingo or TMJ would even make any other rosters at this point. Bryce has a lot more developing to do, but what I have seen is extremely encouraging. He will also be able to throw deep when he gets better protection and receivers. Right now, he really doesn't have many other options. And yes, he does have physical tools to play in the NFL, and I think those will shine more and more as he gets experience. There's a lot to be angry about with this team but Bryce Young is going to be a very good QB in this league.

He's a great slot receiver, not supposed to be leading our team in receiving yards or receptions. We obviously do not have no #1 WR or even #2 WR.
-
Not sure we will see one this year based on combination of scheme, protection and receivers
-
Maybe, but probably not. Let’s say we had the second, third pick, or fourth pick, you daft the next best available QB. At least you don’t have the stigma and the pressure of giving up the farm. And if he busts you can always try again next year
