No roughing for hitting him in the head? Perhaps because he was engaged?

John Fox was worthy in 2003, if not 2002 and/or 2004 as well IMO.

The Athletic: Is this the worst Panthers team of all time.
KSpan replied to Tbe's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yup, there was actually realistic hope that the team could/would win a good amount of the time. With this team and 2010, it's over before it even starts. -

2010 would just run all over this team, and they don't have to worry about the offense. It would be the biggest 14-3 thrashing ever. 2001 was better than this team too, but it's close. I give them the nod but acknowledge that 2001 came up with very inventive ways to lose. -
Is the game on Sunday going to be postponed?
KSpan replied to Lame Duck's topic in Carolina Panthers
That was for COVID twice so stuff was already screwy and Lamar was the NFL's flavor of the season/Ben Roethlisberger was possibly on his farewell tour, so of course they made that happen. Can't have the sweethearts hampered. -

It's football, not baseball. -
I had Vonnie Holiday over Jason Peter that year too. It's right there, jotted down next to my algebra homework.

I don't disagree with any of that, especially trading DJ since they had a second golden opportunity to offload Burns and didn't do it, but it doesn't change that Bryce has looked poor int he chances that he's had. Missed downfield throws, behind receivers, weak arm... he is not impressive at all. Nothing has stood out as anywhere near his draft status even considering the state of the team around him. At this point in time, he sucks, and there is little on film to be encouraged about.

Bryce currently sucks. Recognizing it is not hate. Deal with that fact.

No real disagreement, but FWIW Purdy's pressure rate is 22% with 2.6s pocket time while Bryce's, since this is a Panthers board, is 23.9% with 2.5s pocket time. Stroud is right behind him at 2.5s and 23.6% and Levis 2.5% but 26.9% pressure. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2023/passing_advanced.htm Stats don't tell a whoel story of any kind but it is interesting to look at and see correlations between pocket time, pressure, sack rates, and who the outliers are.

Interesting snippet charting a QB's individual EPA vs the OL pass-block grades, basically trying to show who may be contributing relative to their OL play. Since Brock Purdy gets brought up frequently around here, he has the highest EPA even with SF's terrible OL blocking grades. At the very bottom of EPA and also with abysmal OL grades? Bryce, Zach Wilson (2023), Mac Jones (2021), Kenny Pickett (2023), Sam Darnold (2021), and others. There are many other factors to consider in the overall, but it is interesting to see what QBs have also been suffering from dumpster-level pass blocking and their respective EPAs.

The S2 lab and its testing... not for the faint of heart
KSpan replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Exactly. The mental cannot be fully detached from the physical, and that dynamic was always ignored as the S2 was being over hyped this past offseason -
Sounds pretty fancy like.

Bingo. the Saints couldn't do it with Brees, quite arguably the best dink-and-dunker ever. It's not going to happen with Bryce Young.
-
Solid hit, but the QB was totally upright, having just landed from a hop, and TD Jr didn't wrap up. Opportuntiy for improvement.

It's kind of crazy just how far that aspect has gone this year, with tackles being off the line and leaving early. There were guys that were always on the very edge of the ruke but that edge seems to now be completely gone.
-
They aren't even arguing that the call is wrong, they're arguing about it being called right then rather than at other times as well. I can understand that line of thought on a very general level but it's not like the officials knew what was going to happen on the play, and my god was Toney ever offsides... that's a mistake my 3rd graders make, not a pro.

Confused Why Some Seem to Think We Got Fleeced
KSpan replied to Daddy_Uncle's topic in Carolina Panthers
El .Oh. El. And the amount of heat that we took, not necessarily in just this thread but overall, for even daring to suggest that this plan and staff may not be a world-beating one (among other things)... ooh boy. I will say though that this thread was pre-draft and had the team taken Stroud I don't think the future would be looking as dim. Alas, that's not how it played out. -
Is David Tepper THE most hated Panther of all time?
KSpan replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
Teddy might be top of my non-Carruth, players-only list, but outside of that Tepper and Rhule are way up there. -
Third time if you want to count that historically bad performance in the season opener, which I think is fair.
-
Not in the slightest.
-
Dude was so far offsides that it's not even funny. Not a petty call at all - Toney's a dumbass. There is no easier thing to do than line up onsides as a receiver.
-
It was worse because he is/was a known commodity and that deal was an absolute windfall. At least with Bryce there was some small iota of hope and potential.
