Matt Rhule Hired as Nebraska’s New HC

Why would anyone be happy for that man. He was already set for life thanks to our organization. He brought us zero value, and will go down as one of the worst coaches in our history who almost completely wiped out any culture that had been built previously.- 155 replies

This is the highlight of the season. Amazing job

Totally agree. He did not do well in any area of the team. We had no identity and I cannot think of a single thing we excelled at during his tenure. What was he known for in college? He’s not an offensive coach, and I don’t remember people saying he was a defensive guy either it was really just Snow

Like Punxsutawney Phil, former Panthers coach Matt Rhule spent six weeks in purgatory after being asked to take his shadow, and the rest of his body, back home. Now, all of a sudden, Rhule is everywhere. Talking and writing about football in an extensive and apparently concerted effort to get his name out there. Just as college football season is winding to a conclusion. When Panthers owner David Tepper fired Rhule, the thinking was that, by getting Rhule on the market quickly for a head-coaching job, he’d be in a better position to reduce his buyout by lining up a prime college job. Apparently, Rhule isn’t getting the response he’d expected. Why else would he be launching an all-out media tour? He’s banging the drum. He’s waving the flag. He’s trying to get some attention at a time when college programs are compiling their wish lists. As one astute observer has noted, Rhule thought he’d get the Nebraska or Wisconsin job. Now, he may be left with Arizona State. Or maybe West Virginia, if the folks 30 miles up the road from me dig deep to pay the balance the amounts due and owing to a head coach who clearly needs to go. Rhule has shown that he can turn college programs around, quickly. Of course, if he takes anything other than a first-tier job as he rebounds from failing in the NFL, he’ll undoubtedly be looking to turn another team around — and then high-tail it to a bigger job. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/11/22/matt-rhule-suddenly-is-everywhere/

We have seen enough. PJ looked more relaxed and moved the team much better than Baker. Cut the guy and roll with Walker/Darnold the rest of the year

It F*cks like that man’s beard

Lol I like how I mentioned football aside and showed a touching video about his emotions just two weeks after his mother passing and people are hating on no back to back winning seasons.
-
Say what you want but he coached us to the best season we have ever had, and is an amazing person…football aside. I am happy to see moments like this, he has been in a terrible situation in Washington and in his personal life with the loss of his mother and cancer. He has always had the respect of his team and the locker room everywhere he has been. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRQNoRAE/

Yes and we need to sign Bozeman to a contract extension before FA. This is a fantastic turnaround in one season, and we have a line which can be good for a very long time.

Lol we looked like a high school team last week against Cincy. We get our third win at home against the Falcons and here we are Superb Owl bound!

I completely disagree but respect your opinion. When you look around the league and the success rate at DE spot when picked middle and lower portions of round 1 you realize how specials someone like Burns is and is just 24 years old. Also…it’s not like Burns is doing anything to lower his trade value. He could be traded at any point after the season but based on his current trajectory he is not lowering his overall value especially when he has zero threat at the other DE spot and he performs even though teams have to focus on him specifically at DE

Well….I don’t believe it would be easy to match his production and future potential with two low future first round picks. Let’s the debate begin. Props to Burns….he should only continue to get better and is tied for 7th most sacks in the league even with a horrible offense for the majority of the season.
