  1. Couldn’t agree more. I really feel sorry the kid. He could be great in the right system. The Panthers are going to deep-six his career b4 it gets started good.
  2. When you look back at our most successful campaigns, the Panthers are best with a power running offense and efficient passing complemented by great defense and solid special teams play. That approach has epitomized the “KEEP POUNDING” mantra that has been our battle cry. I’ll never understand this drive to embrace the WCO when we simply don’t have the personnel to execute it effectively. Rhule attempted a similar approach with Joe Brady from LSU and it failed miserably. We’re just not built for it and frankly this has never been what Panthers’ football is all about. Teams like Alabama (where Bryce Young became a star), 49ers, Seahawks, etc. have figured out how to maintain strong power running offenses with complementary passing that makes them hard to beat. Why is it so hard for the Panthers to do the same?
  3. To me, Reich bears the brunt of the responsibility (as he should) for trying to run an offense that our personnel is not suited for. Why we haven’t crafted an offense similar to what Bryce ran at Alabama is beyond me. We’re going to kill this kid’s confidence, if not literally get him killed, a la David Carr if something is not done to right the ship.
  4. I keep thinking to myself “we can’t be this bad”. But apparently we are. This is a nightmare.
  5. I think the Bears want to lose this game. They’re rebuilding as we should and need that high draft pick.
  6. Yup. Another talented Carolina team being wasted by lousy coaching. And btw - we’re not getting sht from our bench. Which is slightly more than we’re getting from our team defense.
  7. Can’t disagree with you here. I think trading CMC (as much as it hurt) was the right move due to his price tag and his misuse on offense. But trading away draft assets and DJ Moore (who’s going to pulverize our injury-riddled D on Thursday - blood n guts 2.0) for any rookie QB with our poorly constructed roster is turning out to be one of worse decisions in franchise history. Just underscores the importance of having competent people running things, which we haven’t had in awhile. Having an smart owner who with more patience and less meddling wouldn’t hurt either.
  8. Tepper’s impatience has been one of the main issues. Rome wasn’t built in a day. The rebuilding of the roster is at least 3 years behind schedule because he thought all we needed was a QB. We can only hope this season provides the epiphany that there are no quick fixes to success in the NFL.
  9. His physical limitations notwithstanding, there is reason for optimism. Before yesterday, he had a 90% QBR which is not bad for a rookie. No matter how high your IQ, accuracy or athleticism, you’re not doing diddly-squat if your OL can’t block or run block consistently or WRs can’t get open. Not saying Young will be a future HOF, but neither Stroud (the one I wanted) and Richardson would look like much with this roster as currently constructed offense- wise.
  10. The difference is the 9ers were correct in their assessment. The Panthers obviously were not. This is the price of incompetence.
  11. As much as I hate it, part of me wants this to be a wake-up call to Tepper and rest of this organization. We’ve been operating as if we’re one player away when anyone with eyes and a modicum of intelligence could see the roster has been full of holes for years now. To expect any rookie QB to elevate this mess is completely delusional. I feel bad for Bryce. His physical limitations notwithstanding, he had the potential to be a really good QB in a better situation.
  12. Can’t see that happening. But I could see the Patriots bringing back McD in some offensive capacity next season with the understanding that he’ll be the heir apparent for BB when he decides to hang it up.
  13. I agree with moving Icky inside but switching Moton to LT would be a bad move. I’d rather stick with Ickey until we draft or sign a replacement that forcing Moton to switch sides halfway through the season.
  14. He struggled with speed rushers last year also. Under Wilks we became more run-oriented which actually plays to his strength and exposed him less.
  15. I know the Wolfpack faithful don’t like to hear this…but Ickey is NOT a T and needs to be moved inside. He’s always struggled with speed rushers and it’s going to get BY killed.
  16. We had the opportunity to scout him extensively during the draft process. I’m sure that knowledge is helping us keep him in check.
  17. I think the Panthers should just roll with what they have. We’re not a playoff team as currently constructed. Any acquisition will mean giving up valuable draft capital that we could probably ill-afford to lose. Trading away future assets is what’s gotten us into this mess.
  18. Tepper’s impatience and resulting desperation are the reasons we’re in this mess. The dizzying quarterback carousel we’ve had to endure since he took over is squarely on his shoulders and now a promising young QB will potentially be ruined due to lack of roster talent and incompetence. I have a feeling this rapidly spiraling season is what it will have to take for him to learn the hard way - trust the people you hire to make football decisions and back off.
  19. Best solution for all involved. And to Kai Jones, wishing you the best and, in the words of our former majority owner……. Seriously, get some help young man. You got your whole life ahead of you to enjoy!
