Yup, a true pocket QB, but not a statue. He has wheels if and when he needs to bail. THIS is what we need. I'm over jitter bug QBs. Yes, having excellent mobility is a plus, but it had better not be a QBs best attribute.

I agree Allar feasts on lesser opponents and shrinks versus the big dogs. He's not QB1 material. Moore seems to be a duel threat guy, mostly. I like what little I've seen, but the guys that run a lot use that as a crutch. I'd rather have a pocket guy that's mobile than a QB looking to run as soon as the pocket gets mucked up. Mendoza took some shots last night and still stood poised in the pocket. He didn't get happy feet or bail as soon as the OL started to collapse. Granted that willingness to stay in the pocket lead a couple sacks, strip sack (own recovery) and a pick, but unlike a certain QB in Charlotte, he didn't get rattled and marched down the field for the game sealing TD not too long after the INT.

Two passes tells me this kid has what it takes--2:07 and 6:25. Yeah, he had a pick while getting blown up on an A gap blitz, but still was just slightly high. This kid's accuracy is freaking rare. Both of his miscues were results of OL failures. Most QBs would be satisfied with the numbers for this game. This is a poor outing for Mendoza.

What did you think? Iowa arguably has one of the stingiest defenses year in and year out. Not the pristine stat line Mendoza had been putting up, but a more realistic one. That said, not too shabby at all. One of the best defenses he will see all season and on the road.

AA A month into the season and Mendoza is already climbing boards. This guy has him QB1 going to the Browns in the draft. McShay has him tied for QB3. Before the season he was nowhere near the top 5 QBs.

What you can't rank is accuracy and dude is super accurate. Now, can he go through progressions? That remains to be seen.

No, but most of know this win is the exception rather than the rule. Yes, winning feels awesome and I know the team really needed that 'W', but if things go the way most think, that feeling will be experienced only a few times this year.
