Agreed. However, if an upgrade is available in the draft, say mid-round or FA at a decent cap figure, why not go that route? He's developed into a decent NFL RB. I mean Thielen was the other mention in this post, do we not upgrade if one is to be had? I get what you are saying though, we invest too much at RB in an attempt upgrade, but it doesn't have to be that way. We just have an incompetent GM that chooses to do it that way.

NFL Insider Mike Sando asks what Tepper has learned
45catfan replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Step #6 and nullifying step #1-5. And the cycle continues... -
I like him as a RB2. It's just a shame we got so much tied up in Sanders to get a RB1, a REAL RB1. That's a shot at Sanders, not Chuba.
-
He our best RB now, to be sure, but I don't think he's a true RB1. Is he better than Sanders? Between the tackles, absolutely and maybe better overall.

The reason were are #3 in yards and 29th in points is because of turnovers and losing the field position battle due to our offense's ineptitude...it's as simple as that. Basically, if the opposing teams have a short field and score, then it doesn't require racking up a lot of yardage in order to get that score. I would take those stats flip-flopped any day of the week, BTW.

Passes of 18, 19 and 20. Correct like 60 yards, but it's a sad state of affairs when 15-20 yard passes are considered deep throws. Granted, they aren't check down throws, but Falcons got passive on their pressures on the last drive, so no need for dump offs to the hot read.

I know some of you will think this means nothing
45catfan replied to Frank9999's topic in Carolina Panthers
I bet the entire team felt better yesterday. I'm happy for ALL of them. However as devoted fan, I can't simply take it game to game anymore. There has to be a long game here to end this cycle of misery. Excuse me if TD-less victory in what amounts to a meaningless season doesn't give me goosebumps and a warm fuzzy feeling. The path to the two victories this season are 100% unsustainable. It's crazy to think otherwise. -
So what you are saying is Young isn't totally deplete of weapons. Hmmm, I was assured that our skill positions were all arena league, XFL and CFL castoffs.

A QBR a tic above Zack Wilson for last place. How many of those guys showed potential beyond year 1? Maybe Jones and Fields, but they still are struggling. Point being, people who have watched this game nearly their entire lives can see the potential in most players, especially at the QB position since it's so hyper-focused upon. People can say stats lie, and while true, generally those are cherry picked or flawed raw data. In this instance, QBR is applied to all qualifying QBs in the NFL. This is not a cherry picked stat and I'm nearly certain the raw data is solid.

Where does ESPN get their attendance information?
45catfan replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
You know they all are taken? There may be 70,000 PSL seats, but that doesn't mean they all are being used/paid for. Actually I highly doubt it. I bet I can go on the Panthers website now and find thousands for sale and then go to the the PSL exchange where thousands more are for sale. Again, they are playing with the numbers. -
Same thing for the Texans game. Final drive, prevent defense and they give Bryce his underneath throws. We can't rely on a near perfect day for the defense and Eddy not to miss a kick for a victory every game. It just isn't realistic. Crazy thing is if Eddy had missed both the Texans' kick and the one yesterday, we'd 0-14 and he'd be 100% cut. Meanwhile, the hopium huffers are doing victory laps while crowning Young.

If you want a comparison, Drew Brees ain't it, more like Doug Flutie.

FIFY -
Brees was bigger first off. His second season he missed games due to injury. Outside of picks, which are normally high for young QBs, his stats are well ahead of Young's in his first season starting. Brees also got picked from Perdue which is not a football powerhouse. He got drafted on his merit despite not having the 5-star blue chippers throughout the whole roster like 'Bama.
-
Is he going to get taller? Are his hands going to get bigger? Is he going to gain 30 pounds? Is his arm going to get stronger for a faster delivery? These are the things out of his control that are tangible. We can see these things, they are quantifiable. Obviously those things lead to deficiencies like no mustard on his fast ball for tight window throws or outside the number passes beyond 15 yards. He can clean up his horrible footwork, but at this stage, it will be hard for him to do so. By the time a QB gets to the NFL, they have been doing 'their' drop back for a long time.

Still something very fishy there and I'm not on a boat in the ocean. I think someone hit the nail on the head with "distributed" tickets, i.e. charity. They can donate 5,000 tickets to a corporate sponsor or charity and not sit on those tickets. I think they are on the hook for any tickets on hand. I bet PSL holder rate is nowhere near 100% and the single game seats sold probably were a blip. Again, fuzzy math. -
Bingo! It is possible to be a top-notch college QB and not pan out in the NFL. It happens a lot actually. The problem is that he's OUR QB, so the rose colored glasses are Superglued to their faces. If this was the Jets, for instance, a spade would already be called a spade. We are quick to call out other team's struggling QBs and ignore the deficiencies of our own guy. How many Steelers fans were holding out hope for Kenny Pickett? How many Jets fans were saying after Zach Wilson rookie season. 'another year he's going to blossom'? Crap, how many Falcons fans were excited that they passed on a QB only to give Ridder the benefit of a doubt this season??? Yes, rookie QBs struggle more times than not, however, you have to see the tangible things that with better coaching, a better supporting cast and with some things cleaned up in the QBs game, people can say 'this guy is going to be great!' I don't see that with Bryce. His ceiling given an ideal situation around him is an average game managing QB.

Should we seriously consider Evero for head coach?
45catfan replied to PleaseCutStewart's topic in Carolina Panthers
Depends. If he was a positional coach or lower, then yeah, but OCs/DCs are just a step below, many times holding the title of assistant HC. I don't think the team would resist that. However, I wouldn't want him out of his role as DC. Either he holds duel roles or he has to hire someone who thinks just as he does as the new DC. Either one of those scenarios is a stretch. -
That's how it appeared on TV. None of the ponchos--even the really cheap paper thin ones, were flapping around. It seemed like a steady drizzle most of the game. The one thing Bryce did well was not turn the ball over. Credit for stringing some passes together on the final drive, but this can't be the norm as it's not sustainable. As horrible as our WRs are, a few of his bad passes were bailed out by very good catches. I get the ball was wet, but there were several wounded duck thrown yesterday.

No way. Even including PSL owners there's no way 95% of tickets were sold yesterday. That's what the Panthers reported to the League and where ESPN gets their information. -
At best, Tepper offers him a shot to stick around as the STs coach. I hope Tabor laughs in his face.
-
I saw one, exactly one. He has usually ONE a game. That's the "flash" people keep referring to. The sideline pass to Chark. Great pass, but one a game isn't going to cut the mustard.

Well, this would be the 2025 class, but look who's transferring to QBU!
-
Yup and replicating that every week is, let's say, not probable.
