  1. Agreed that they are the same archetypal safety that everyone wants... but honestly, as much as I like James' game, I was really surprised they paid him that. It seems he really earned it off reputation for his potential thus far than anything, because he has missed a TON of games since they drafted him. And I'm cool with whatever wr have to pay Chinn to stay when that time comes, he has earned it, continues to earn it, and with the increase in cap and revenue each year, all the "record" amounts of money in these contracts will continue. It's par for the course.
  2. They said yesterday that once the practice started, they cut the cameras away from the action and the guys just talked about it.
  3. I've seen several huddlers assume TMJ I'd a lock in our previous discussions about the WR depth chart, but I don't. Shi has definitely surpassed him on it and I have gushed repeatedly about his potential... he could be HUGE for us. Higgins probably leapfrogged over him too. TMJ flashed last year, then got hurt, then they didn't play him anymore, and now he can't even get on the field. Also factor in guys like Saunders and Wright started getting 1st team snaps, we have to keep Roberts for STs, and I think it was Smitty that said the UDFA Henry is really highly regarded by the staff, and TMJ may be a one and done. He's definitely playing with fire.
  4. I don't think that was the case about them winning the day... even their most biggest homer beat guys seemed pretty bummed as the practice went on and said we set the tone with physicality and energy all day. The more I read, the more I was encouraged.
  5. I honestly thought he had washed out of the league after a couple of years with the Cards.
  6. Just so infuriatingly stupid. I'm really starting to think it's all part of Rhule's favortism towards Darnold. That really is at the core of all the crap going on at QB. Take Darnold out of the equation yesterday, and Corral prolly plays from the mid-3rd qtr on. And tbh, he just never got comfortable. Even Howell looked pretty rough when he came in that first couple series and the 3rd. It took him time to get settled in and once he did, he showed out. Corral never had time to get settled, nor was he given any time to develop a rhythm, because they essentially sent him out there to chew clock and then by the time he needed to make a play because we let them back in the game, he was flustered and out in a horrible position. And the same goes for practice... take Darnold out of the equation, and all those reps get dispersed between PJ and Corral. And as I said yesterday and last year, I will take PJ 10 times out of 10 over Darnold. He is athletic and has arm talent. No, he's not an NFL starter, but he is a really good backup with much better traits and composure than Darnold could ever dream of. The QB room should be Baker, PJ, and Matt. And that would simplify and resolve all these issues. I'm starting to think Matt was not Rhule's choice, and at the time didn't know he would have Baker either, so he was banking on Darnold coming back and improving under a new OC, and so he's still looking out for his guy. But enough with the charade... Fitt should get rid of Darnold so we can concentrate on other things that actually matter. He is a complete waste of a roster spot right now and the problem his presence is creating is bleeding over into other issues that wouldn't exist otherwise.
  7. I blame the mismanagement of personnel and reps on Rhule. He put Matt at a horrible disadvantage. It's one preseason game, and I'm not entering a final verdict obviously... but even the plays Corral had time and/or open receivers, he didn't look good. It did not look encouraging at all.
  8. Tbh, I don't recall being more unimpressed with our defensive depth up front in along time. Those backup LBs and DLs outside of Barno and Smith were some of the worst I ever remember seeing.
  9. Damn right. 100% agree. fuging sucks we can't properly judge how a player is progressing or looks because our head coach is a fuging buffoon.
  10. Not completely. Howell extended his drives with some clutch escapability and scrambles.
  11. Shi is going to br a big time player for us. There is something special about him.
  12. There's just something in the air with Matt Rhule teams here. There's just overwhelming sense of ineptitude and failure that we can never outrun, preseason or not.
  13. TBH, this ending frustrates me even more, because not only does Corral look bad because they out him out there with future cuts, but because he hadn't gotten reps all camp because we're wasting so many on Darnold. Pisses me the fug off.
  14. Also, I thought they grabbed Matt's facemask on that last drive. St the very least it was a blow to the head.
  15. Self-destructing, just like a Matt Rhule team should.
  16. I agree and just made the same point in another post. Which is why I really wish they would've gotten him in the 3rd at least a little bit with the better personnel.
  17. Well, I'm not gonna lie... I think we as fans wanted to see him, good or bad, because we get to see so little of all of the guys in camp ever since Tepper took over and information was so limited... so we can't form an opinion of players ourselves until we see them in games. It sucks. But to be fair, as I pointed out earlier, it's kind of hard to evaluate Matt with the personnel around him right now too... which is why I don't get playing PJ that long with the better options.
