  1. It may have been the wrong thing to do, but he clearly was trying to move Burns so he could spend on the offensive line. It's short term bias. No team is gonna let a GM just cook for 3 years building up picks and not winning.
  2. NFL front offices value winning NOW because if they don't, they won't be around later. That's really the takeaway. It's not unique to Scott Fitterer. That's why the Rams made the insane offer in the first place. That's why they've gone after almost every player they've acquired in the last 5-6 years. They don't care about picks. They're trying to win today.
  3. It was dumb to turn that down from the teams perspective. But Fitterer doesn’t survive to see either of those 1sts even with Burns on the roster. I doubt if he trades him Teppers like let this guy cook for another couple years lol. He didn’t do it because he knew it wasn’t in his best interest as general manager. That’s kind of the unfortunate reality a lot of the time.
  4. He was in on every deal. He just lost every time. It didn't say win every deal.
  5. I mean the team sucks and hasn't done much of anything right the last 6 years. I'm not going to defend them on really anything else. I just think part of the problem in the Rhule years was bringing in these low level starters and trying to become mediocre immediately. We really needed to be taking shots early in the draft on QBs in those years. Going full ride or die on Bryce this year is the right call. Even if they suck at picking QBs and building rosters and are terrible human beings.
  6. I'm not against building up the roster. If Bryce is as bad as he was last year, it won't matter how good the roster is. That level of QB play will suck everyone down and lock you into a top 3 pick. I just don't think there's any purpose in bringing in some bottom 10 starting QB to win a few extra games in that scenario. That makes sense for a team that already has a QB and needs a backup. It doesn't make sense for the worst team in the league going into year 2 with Bryce Young. It's the culture argument from the Wilks/Darnold finish. We need a QB worth building around. There's no getting around it.
  7. Setting a reminder to bump this in 22 years.
  8. I'd rather get the 1st overall pick than be a 6-9 win team with Gardner Minshew.
  9. The trade up was basically a double or nothing bet on whoever was selected. They're just riding it out this year which is the best move.
  10. Excuse me sir DJ Johnson will be entering his prime at 26 years old this season. Thin at edge? Are you even a fan?
  11. Looks like this is the Olympics forum
  12. Even if the 5th being lost is guaranteed, that’s better value than we’ve gotten from a 5th round pick since 2012 with Josh Norman.
  13. It’s the least they could do after asking the city for 600 million. What a generous gesture. I’m sure it was simply out of the goodness of their hearts.
  14. Obviously not all trades end up being equal, but the Steelers were willing to part with this guy for an expiring Donte Jackson. I think its important to keep that in mind.
  15. And if we're in the opposite situation, we're not committed to paying him if he's this season's DJ Chark.
  16. If he plays great this year then just pay him after that. The odds that an expiring contract we got for Donte Jackson is going to be worth extending is pretty low. He could pop off but it’s just the reality of the situation.
  17. People actually thought Atlanta would get the death penalty for this
  18. He's got the same problem as Sam Darnold. He's more athletic than Darnold, but neither of them can consistently make the right decisions with the ball. He's consistently made mistakes late in games that ended up being the difference in a win and a loss.
  19. Darnold aside, Tepper never should have given Wilks the interim job if he wasn't going to have a real shot at getting the position. The easy move was to wait and let Rhule lose the rest of the games. Didn't need to fire him and trade CMC to try and force that outcome. We all saw how that worked out.
