  1. I dont think they downplay it as much as saying that Young is elite at it. Stroud's processing can also be a little scary because outside of the GA game he wasnt nearly as good at processing if the play broke down or if his early read wasnt there. I dont think hes slow at processing, i just think its one of Young's main strengths.
  2. Lots of top prospects dont do much at the combine every year to be fair.
  3. How isnt he mobile like Mahomes? Mahomes ran in the 4.8s. A lot of offenses run mostly shotgun and regardleed it was a decision Saban made that didnt really have anything to do with Young or his capabilities. Just because he didnt take snaps under center doesnt mean it was because he couldnt or because he cant learn to. People making a very big deal out of this are people who specifically want Stroud and are trying to find another knock on Young besides his size.
  4. People were actually saying Levis hitting the ceiling was a bad thing and somehow meant specifically that he didnt have a strong arm because he was throwing it so high. Its amazing the spins people can put on thing based on what they want the results to mean.
  5. You can just say that you want the pick to be Richardson. Thats all this post adds up to. You dont draft a player becsuse of their combine performance. You are just getting caught up in the speed numbers. He was clearly behind the other qbs in the passing drills. Also on your theory about the Mccown youtube video, thats totally made up. After Mccown was hired Josh Norris said they never got to that video. At the time it was between making the AR video and a video on a different subject (i cant remember what) and they chose the other topic not knowing mccown would be gone before they got to the AR one and how they wished they had been able to make that one for views.
  6. Evero's scheme relies on great secondary play more than anything else. Im not saying edge isnt a need at all, I'm just saying i dont see it as the #2 need behing qb like most people seem to. If edge is bpa at 39 then i think they definitely take them but i think they can afford to go bpa at 39 within reason. Edge, cb, te, and wr could potentially have a really talented player there at 39 the way the draft looks on paper right now.
  7. I understand this logic when i see it posted all the time but i disagree with it. So many peoole want to act like physical cant be taught but everything mentally can. People have ceilings as far as processing speed and the mental side of it too regardless of how much coaching they have. Not everything mental can be coached either.
  8. Understandable. I honestly see Luvu as better at an edge but who knows. He will definitely kick inside out of the base defense.
  9. I know a lot of people see edge as a huge need but i just dont understand it. Especially considering we will be in 34 probably 20% of the time. Burns, luvu, haynes, and barno seem fine for now. A need sure, one of the biggest? I just dont see it. Is it because everyone is excited about the switch to 34 and edge is kind of a flashy new toy? I would say de is more of a need right now as far as the transition. Evero's scheme is built around having a very talented secondary. The rest of the posistions are more plug and play with solid players who know their role. I appreciate all the work you did on your post.
  10. Reich has said himself, in the end the its him and Fitterer that are going to make the call.
  11. Again, i wasnt commenting on him specifically. I was responding to the comment that everything besides size and speed can be coached to qbs. I think his processing is fine. Not at Young's level but it is fine.
  12. Im not saying hes below average. It was more of just a response to the post saying that everything can be coached besides size and speed at qb.
  13. I disagree. Processing speed cant be taught for example.
  14. I agree to an extent. I definitely think smaller qbs have some disadvantages, such as seeing over the line and stuff like that. Im not saying smaller qbs are better, im saying statistically the injury thing may be overblown by fans who are set on Stroud anyways.
  15. Statistically with quarterbacks, larger ones are injured more often.
  16. Exactly. Plenty of big players have had concussion issues. We have had several unfortunately with Kuechly, Morgan, and Oher. So to say Tua has concussion issues entirely because he doesnt weigh enough could be entirely inaccurate.
  17. How do you know Tua got them entirely because of his weight and not just bad luck/genetic predisposition?
  18. Two of the best big prospects coming out were Cam and Luck. Both of them were plagued by injuries. It seems like common sense that a smaller qb would get hurt more but thats not what the stats say.
  19. It does further down the article. It actually shows bigger qbs are injured more often. Which is probably a fluke but does help say weight doesnt have much to do with qb injuries.
  20. I think its weird people who are set on stroud say you can coach stroud to do what young does but you cant coach young to be bigger. The second part is definitely true, but the first part definitely isnt nesscesarily. You cant nesscesarily coach lightning quick processing and playmaking when a play breaks down. A lot of that is natural talent in the same way height is.
  21. I prefer him at edge in the 20% or so we are in 34 but i believe someone on the staff said in an interview last week that Luvu will play a mixture of edge and inside linebacker when we are in 34. Maybe i just dreamed it though but I'm pretty sure. In the same answer they mentioned Chinn and his versatility to play all over the field in different formations.
  22. Exactly. The average NFL rb is 213 lbs and they take way more hits than whichever qb we take. I hope. Lol
  23. Thats silly though. Most injuries are flukes or bad luck. Find me statistics that say bigger qbs have had less injuries than smaller ones. Brees had a relatively healthy career. So has kyler for the most part. What about some big qbs like Cam or Luck? There very well may be statistics aggreeing with this sentiment that smaller equals injured more but I haven't found it.
