  1. That's what I was thinking. I remember his first couple days being rough when Rhule said they were throwing everything at him immediately.
  2. That's what I've heard mostly too. I've also heard the consensus that he has looked a lot better as of late. That's why it seemed weird that of the 6 topics they chose to cover in the entire NFL they chose to make one on Darnlod's "camp struggles."
  3. I know bleacher report is usually garbage but did anyone see the article about buying or selling the latest training camp buzz? One of the categories was on Darnold struggling mightily in training camp? I've definitely heard he has had some ups and downs but nothing like they are portraying. Here is a link to the full article. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2947117-buying-or-selling-nfls-latest-training-camp-buzz-entering-preseason Here is what it says about Darnold in training camp recently. " According to ESPN's David Newton, the 24-year-old has struggled in camp, throwing one notable interception despite a "wide-open" target and making overthrows in situational drills. It was always going to take Darnold time to get adjusted to life with a new team, something that could extend into the regular season. On paper, he's got a couple of strong targets at tight end, plus rookie Terrace Marshall Jr., DJ Moore and Robby Anderson at wideout. But the Jets were willing to give up on Darnold for a reason. Over three seasons, he's completed just 59.8 percent of his passes with 45 touchdowns and 39 interceptions. The Panthers are all-in on him for one season regardless, but a rocky start during what is usually a time of unending optimism is buyable and suggests it could continue. Verdict: Buying"
  4. Maybe Rhule is just talking him up or maybe he's making plays in practice. I've heard his name mentioned several times lately for making plays. I also know he had a couple good catches at fanfest including the diving two point conversion catch. Hes probably just a JAG that has looked solid in camp but that doesnt mean Rhule mentioning him has nothing to do with his play on the field.
  5. I heard he really struggled in their big practice that was what you would compare to our fan fest. I'm not sure how he has looked most of camp though.
  6. I wouldn't call Mahomes a running quarterback. No more than saying Rodgers is a running quarterback really. There is a difference in being mobile and being a running qb.
  7. You can close out on a 3, there's not much you can do but foul when the ball gets deep in the paint. It's not like they have great perimeter defenders either. It is a calculated risk.
  8. The defensive players around the perimeter have to sag to help protect the paint. You pick your poison.
  9. Exactly. I'm really happy with JB. Thats what I was arguing.
  10. The reason it seems like Clifford is still the coach and they are giving up 3s away because the roster was still the same as far as defenders in the paint.
  11. I feel like this is a bit of an overreaction for a person saying it would have been nice if they had a padded practice for fan fest like they do 3 days a week each week.
  12. Yea I'm really not sure what the point of being so hush hush about letting fans have more access to training camp this year outside of what the team provides. It seems especially weird because this regime has in my opinion seemed to provide more access with most things before this.
  13. It makes the joint team practices much more exciting.
  14. So if you didnt like it or think it was fair then why would you choose to continue the cycle? There just isnt much benefit in scrutinizing every single throw in the first week of practice on a new team.
  15. Yea I agree, it just seems like from my perspective there have always been moves we as fans werent happy about but the general consensus was they hoped to be proven wrong which would be a good thing for the team. Now it seems much more fans prioritize wanting to be proven right at all costs at the expense of the team. I would much rather be proven totally wrong about every negative thing that I may be concerned about with the roster.
  16. This is definitely one of the more negative training camps I can remember as far as so many people on here trying to be entirely negative about everything before practice with pads even starts.
  17. Because awards are won in early training camp...
  18. Exactly. Pocket awareness and just mobility in the pocket is much more important than actual speed and being able to scramble for yardage.
  19. I disagree. Most of the top qbs at the moment dont really use their legs to actually run unless they have to. Guys like Rodgers and Mahomes are really good at sensing pressure and being athletic enough to avoid it to get their passes off. That doesnt nesscesarily take being especially fast.
  20. So many people just remember late Delhomme.
  21. I still believe you're underselling him. Saying he was just enough to win a game is a big understatement. He was the most clutch qb we have had in the franchise by far. Yes Cam was a lot more talented but Jake was who you wanted when the game was on the line. Even in the super bowl look how he responded when the patriots started moving the ball. There is a reason his leadership and intangibles are still talked about around the franchise.
  22. Early for us. Basically from his first game he came in in the 2nd half.
  23. It feels like some people forget how good early Jake Delhomme was.
