  1. I expect to see significant improvement in his footwork his accuracy his deep ball and his performance in all 4 quarters of games. I also expect to see him out there trying to lead the team and bringing energy in moments where we might be trailing or not doing well. That trait is a very specific leading reason of why we drafted him. In my POV the difference between us is my definition of expectation in this instance in relation to BY is based on real world data and where he ranked last season compared to his peers whereas your definition of expectation seems to be drifting into the fantasy end of the spectrum. The issue here is that you have a distinct perception that discussion that does not revolve around Bryce Young basically being fitted for a gold jacket after it's all said and done means others must not be loyal Panthers fans. That's something you're going to have to figure out for yourself my friend.
  2. Travelle Wharton does indeed deserve more recognition. He was rock solid.
  3. He hasn't been perfect. Some people have been hard on him in recent times due to all the turmoil along the OL. But he's firmly within the top 5 no doubt. And he's done that playing beside some turnstiles for awhile now. As much as we all love Gross and Kalil they had the benefit of playing beside capable linemen for the most part in their best years.
  4. Do tell. How bad do I think he is since you are apparently a telepath? I can tell you what the numbers say. He was 46th in passer rating for the season last year. What do I want to see? Top 15 minimum in most important QB metrics. That is and should be the expectation for him or any other first overall pick. Do you agree?
  5. My main takeaway. Thank you Derrick Brown. Even in OTA's the man is on a mission.
  6. This is what the football discussion looks like about a team that regardless of the "new" season has had the worst win percentage in professional sports. The heavily produced footage we are being fed does not change the circumstances. If you've read my posts you'll know I've tried to be fair on the whole regarding the situation surrounding Bryce going back to the evening we drafted him. When the games started so did the clock and there were many things that occurred which did not and still do not bode well for the likely outcome of him becoming a great to elite QB. And unlike some people who tell others to stfu I have yet to declare Bryce Young a confirmed bust and I certainly don't need to go around creating threads saying such and then running and hiding over it like AceBoogie. I want Bryce to be the guy. Most people here do. But that doesn't require one to be a drone only showering praise upon him. Furthermore this is what we are going to be dealing with for the next several months from other teams fans and the media so you should get used to it now. If someone wants honest discussion and not an echo chamber this is the place to be. If someone wants to be a drone they should seek out the die hard Panthers sycophants on X.
  7. Take your own advice https://www.carolinahuddle.com/topic/227686-i-hope-you-know-what-this-means…/
  8. The feels about Morgan his history our history and the words and energy from Canales had me riding high. Then at the 14 minute mark they finally get to Bryce Young and he's looking as small as last year despite the recent hopium about him "hitting the gym" via flattering camera angles and it immediately negated everything. I think ultimately Morgan and Canales could be the right combo. But they need to be given the freedom to quickly change gears and move in another direction at QB if by midseason we do not see glimpses of elite QB play from #9.
  9. I don't know what's up with the title must have been looking for clicks. Early in the video some of what he's saying is in line with what we've seen. But he veers off into sheer fantasy territory when he starts talking about Bryce Young's downfield deep balls at Alabama. He had the worst deep ball by far between him Mac Jones Hurts and Tua. People want to talk Bryce Young but say these things and can't figure out why they are dismissed. People need to learn to discern what they hope for versus what's actually happened. Bryce Young has simply never been a consistently good deep passer at either level to this point. Even at his hyped pro day his deep ball was described as underwhelming at best. For a first overall pick!? It's always been there for anyone to see. Unless that changes he will not be a franchise QB in this league for any team regardless of the circumstances. That's what Canales has to get out of him.
  10. The newer fans and younger fans that cape for the worst win % in professional sports must not have been around for the better years in Panthers history. We've always been largely mediocre but the high points were another universe compared to this. The justification for lowering standards within this fanbase is the definition of the "just happy to be here" mentality that was often prevalent within the culture of this franchise before Cam came along and got attacked repeatedly for being a sore loser. Fug man give me all your sore losers those are the guys I want on my Panthers!
  11. https://overthecap.com/position/wide-receiver Meanwhile. The talented wide receiver who just came off a career year with a QB who was jettisoned to a different team and whom we traded for our young franchise QB is 17th in annual WR salary. Probably one of the only things the last regime got right was signing him to that deal when they did.
  12. Oh man does this sound familiar. Gives new meaning to the term unhinged.
  13. When it boils down to it none of us really know how highly the Texans valued Stroud. I understand why you think this was how it went down because it's what was leaked through the media but I would caution making assumptions about the Texans intentions and assuming they operate similarly to the Panthers ie absolutely zero gamesmanship and tunnel vision for certain prospects over others. There's a reason the Texans have been drafting fairly well as of recently and the Panthers have been..well.. the exact opposite. Whether it was all Fitterer or Tepper was meddling it doesn't matter we were painfully easy to read.
  14. I like the things he's saying the new car smell vibe and the fact that he's a young coach that hopefully will be easy to adapt to different things. But none of that matters if he isn't getting it done scheming against making adjustments against and generally coaching well against other teams and their staff on gamedays. That is all that matters. That's the type of stuff I need to see by midseason.
  15. Who is going to pay him to play QB knowing his arm is done? Most teams would tolerate just about any of his eccentricities if he still had the cannon. At the end of the day you can debate his value within the draft but you can't debate his value to us and the fact we've been flailing hopelessly for the last 5 years minimum. The cruel irony of it all is we had the first pick and a QB in our sights that had comparable arm strength ability to a young Cam and we passed on that to draft the next Doug Flutie because he was more marketable in their eyes. Personality wise BY is the anti-Cam and Stroud was more open to expressing himself and outwardly confident in his abilities like Cam was. At the end of the day if you want to be a serious championship contender and not a team that makes the playoffs but folds like a lawn chair you need a strong take charge kind of personality behind center.
  16. Of course he was the look on his face after the first pick was announced said everything. Someone within the building overruled the pick and the rest is history. I don't blame him one bit for using any of it as extra motivation. That's what a player worthy of the #1 pick is supposed to do. Keep talking poo about the Panthers the powers that be deserve to have their noses rubbed in it.
  17. I don't blame anyone for wanting him to foot the bill. I agree honestly. Although at least he isn't being a total twat like other owners could be and demanding a new stadium entirely. But he doesn't have much leverage on that anyways considering the product on the field has been a steaming pile of poo and he's in large part to blame. This is at least a decent compromise overall.
  18. The double white combo had grown stale but it isn't bad with the new updated materials and colors. The white/black can be off putting but it isn't the worst thing I've seen. Generally my favorite combo is black/silver. Just brings back the best Panthers memories for me. At this point though I do not give a damn what combo they wear as long as they stop embarrassing me and making me want to go do anything else but watch them play football.
  19. I can agree. Though where he is in regards to the pecking order of the draft class is mostly irrelevant. Look no further than the rhetoric around last years QB class. As far as Payton. I'm with you I can't stand the guy. And I do think the dynamic between he and Brees is similar to that of Brady and Belichick. But I'm not going to hold the failure of Russell Wilson against him. Look I have to be honest I think Wilson was really overrated even in his best years. He had good physical ability despite his size but he threw up a lot of prayer balls that receivers plucked out of the air for him. He also had a really great defense and overall coaching staff in the upper echelon of the league consistently. And don't even get me started on the Super Bowl he won. I still contend that Broncos team was probably the worst team in a Super Bowl in the last 50 years minimum. That final play against the Patriots in his next and final Super Bowl is the real Russell Wilson. Personally I hope Sean Payton continues to fall flat on his face because fug the Denver Broncos and him 6 days a week and twice on Sunday. But I wouldn't be surprised if he has them contending again.
  20. Almost all of the Levis talk revolved around off the field nonsense and his inconsistent accuracy. But he always had the ability to put the ball wherever he wanted it. I saw that firsthand against our Panthers when he rifled passes into tight windows with ease that I've honestly still yet to see Bryce make. If you go back to before the draft just about every QB not named Bryce Young was considered to have one or several faults that would hinder their immediate development and take time for them to put it together. Even Stroud was regarded by some as probably taking a few seasons to develop. When in reality it ended up being Young who was the biggest project of the QB class. The next time we happen to be be looking at a QB in the draft people really need to pay attention to physical intangibles and not fall for any of the media hype or criticism over intelligence. This has long been a go to tactic to diminish or uplift one prospect over another. I really thought Panthers fans would have learned this after Cam in 2010. But noooooope.
  21. No one should be comparing any rookie QB that has yet to take a snap to hall of famers. Sound familiar? Though I must admit if it was okay to do so for BY to draw a line in the sand against Nix seems hypocritical. I have no idea how good Bo will be in the NFL but in fairness to him he didn’t get to launch his college career at Alabama and play for the modern GOAT. He had to take his lumps to get where he is. One could argue that path better serves him in adjusting to the NFL rather than having been given everything right away.
  22. Nice to see him being visible and doing good in the community off the field. He's easy to root for in this area we need that. Now if he can just give the region something to be proud of on the field too.
