Panthers pick up 5th year option on Jaycee Horn
frankw replied to Jackie Lee's topic in Carolina Panthers
I mean what else were we going to do we have to give him one last shot. I'm hoping from here all the sudden he's healthy the rest of his career for several seasons but that sounds like a dream scenario. At some point you just chalk it up to bad luck or some guys just have a higher propensity for injuries. We'll see. -
ALERT: Mike Garafalo, Panthers taking RB in 2nd round
frankw replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
In fairness to Chuba.... When every player on the defense and every fan in the stands knows we aren't going to pass because we have the worst pass offense in the league it makes it tough to run for any back. But we need a one two punch backfield we need someone that offers a different skillset we need a bruiser type to compliment him. -
Panthers Select Xavier Legette WR - Pick 32, Round 1
frankw replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
People are reactionary I agree. That's just sports fandom. We all can get that way at some time or another. But on the flip side. We also can't write too much from camp even if certain players wow us. Wasn't TMJ a camp hero a couple times then he disappeared in preseason? Man we've just had it rough all around. Tepper criticism aside. This fanbase has earned something worth watching at minimum. -
Panthers Select Xavier Legette WR - Pick 32, Round 1

He had 23 touchdowns in 2 seasons. Most of us assumed TMJ would be a major red zone threat. At the end of the day he seems to have fallen into the Dwayne Jarrett category. He just doesn't want it. Maybe Mingo could end up the same. Too early to call. Wayyyyyyy too early to call to throw our 1st round pick this year into the same mixed bag with them. Let's get him to camp. -
Panthers Select Xavier Legette WR - Pick 32, Round 1

TMJ balled out in college and we see what's become of him. Production or lack of production doesn't guarantee anything the right situation also makes a big impact for receivers. They can't throw to themselves. Also some of this is due to Bryce himself and I have no doubt as the season went on receivers got fed up with it. Would you keep trying to go full bore if your #1 pick couldn't hit you deep with the whole defense behind you? Hopefully Canales can fix some of these issues and at least get us back in the end zone more often. But we are still at the mercy of Bryce Young's physical traits. We'll see what happens. -
This is hilarious. Honestly I think Cousins is overrated AF and this being the Falcons it's such an extra layer of schadenfreude

People have to chill with shitting on Mingo so much you'd think he's the worst pick we've made in the last several years. It's just becoming a robotic take at this point. If you're giving Bryce Young a mulligan because of the coaching and situation overall last year then Mingo deserves the same courtesy.- 635 replies

My only thing is. If this pick does not work out. For the love of everything please stop drafting players because they have local ties. -

I like him overall. No reason not to support the kid. One big plus? We didn't draft him in the second round so hopefully he's a baller! -
Well, there will be no semblance of a draft haul for us

They're local fuging heros.

That was a pipe dream. Just stay put and draft BPA -
I feel you but ultimately it was David Tepper who pushed for it.

Better hope the Falcons and Saints don't get their act together before us. They aren’t ran very well but they are still a far sight better than the Panthers.

It's about that little birdie time in a few days

Twitter is 100× worse than the huddle and most sports media folks with sources seem to navigate that just fine. -
Lmfao and the Panthers traded a young playmaking WR on a contract that dwarfs Brown's for the smallest QB in the league. Ladies and gentlemen. David Tepper.

Sports media does this every year they play favorites no different than fans. Most of it is just outside noise that will go away as long as he shows he is committed to football. As for the difference to Bryce Young honestly you can chalk up most if not all of that to Alabama and Saban. Make no mistake though teams are keeping tabs on Bryce Young's progress and that will have an effect on the likelihood of any QB's lacking basic physical traits going anywhere near the top 10 again. BTW has anyone heard or read anything whatsoever about the S2? *crickets*

I hate to hear that for anyone. As flawed humans it's easy to get stuck in the rat race of adulthood and everyday life and ultimately trivial things we concern ourselves with and forget we're all navigating our own individual circumstances with health issues stress financial burdens etc. I sincerely hope things get better for you and your family and you can get back to doing what you enjoy most.

Bryce Young ready to get back to work, grow as a leader
frankw replied to Carolina Panthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
In all seriousness. Anything is better than admitting your first order of business after one of the worst rookie QB seasons of all time is...doing nothing. I cannot say enough that it gives Sam Darnold vibes. -
Bryce Young ready to get back to work, grow as a leader

Playmakers like the one we traded for him right? For some reason I can hear "Hello Darkness My Old Friend" in the background.. So what you're really saying is: QB first round next year. -
Bryce Young ready to get back to work, grow as a leader
frankw replied to Carolina Panthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
Absolutely. No matter how any of us may feel about Bryce Young's viability or if we believe he will turn things around. As Panthers fans who have seen only 2 long term QB's out of several dozen total in the span of nearly 3 decades history unequivocally tells us one thing for certain. Competition is a good thing. -
Bryce Young ready to get back to work, grow as a leader
frankw replied to Carolina Panthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
The issue is there's 16 games worth of tape on Bryce Young. His bad habits are going to be immediately amplified if he reverts to them. Defenses are waiting for it. Also as another poster above rightly pointed out. He's got to start putting some oomph on these passes. That's also on tape. That's why us fans and his first GM who was fired wanted him to get into the weight room at any capacity but he took time off to do nothing. Whatever happens it won't be for a lack of trying. I think Dave Canales is the right hire to work with a QB like Bryce. The issue is we have no idea if he is the right hire to fix the overall offense and team or how he will handle that level of responsibility on gamedays with only one year of coordinating. I think this is either going to go really well or it's going to spiral. For all the talk of how bad Reich was and yes he was we really got much worse after he was fired and that's what Canales is inheriting. All of this is why I say it is important we have another young QB around just in case. Even a UFA. Also drafting a center for Bryce or whomever. We just need something anything to build on. Sustaining drives and getting into the end zone more often should be goals 1-3. We were h-o-r-r-e-n-d-o-u-s. -

Oh I agree. Now is the time to address the footwork so we can see some progress in time for training camp. It's almost May time is of the essence. Hopefully Bryce can work whatever that bunny hop thing is out of his habits too. If we see that in the regular season Dave Canales is in trouble.
