@Xtreme My guy. He played in 15 games and had a 60.8 completion % with Davante Adams compared to Darnold the bust who had 58.6% through 6 games. And he's several years older than Sam. This is who you want to pay 35 million dollars a year?

Hey I want to be a contender again too but some fans here on the huddle are developing a condition where they perceive any QB who might give them the time of day to be the next sure thing. Did the same thing with Darnold the same thing with Mayfield and now again with a much older and only slightly more consistent QB coming off one of his worst statistical seasons with one of the best receivers in the league. What could go wrong

Let me ask you this straight up. What path do you think we have better odds of resulting in another Super Bowl appearance with? Chasing other teams discarded quarterbacks or drafting our own? What's the trend with the rest? Drafted!

Not really. Stafford has averaged minimum 64% to 68% completion for 8 seasons in a row along with 9 seasons of 4000 or more passing yards. If Carr had that level of consistency he would already be signed to one of the largest QB deals in league history. Folks on the huddle are desperate to build up Carr as a sure thing. Sorry. He isn't.

I'm eager to see how Fitterer does with the keys unequivocally in his hand. But man some people here are fuging blind homers. When Hurney was here derping it up his picks were assessed by most here after one season. It's funny how standards change because some people have an affinity for Scott.

Ofc I would accept it and support but that doesn't mean I have to be blind to the possible cons. I think the % odds of Carr being who we hope is at best even with what we would get drafting a quarterback. When you add in the fact we would have to pay him 35 million a year that's a BIG miss if it doesn't work in our favor. At least with a draft pick if you miss you aren't sinking your salary cap too.

By definition he's a retread. His team decided to move on just like the Jets and Browns decided to move on from Darnold and Mayfield whom we rolled the dice on. He would be retread #3 for us. Just because you don't like the term doesn't make it untrue.

I don't even like Stafford and I think any comparison between the two is laughable. Carr is more comparable to Cutler. You pro Carr guys are just high on hopium.

Carr is boom or bust like Cutler and he's 32 years old. You don't tie up 30+ million a year in that kind of a risk after you've already traded for Darnold and Mayfield. Be realistic people. The draft is the only path forward.

Obviously he isn't unwilling to spend as evidenced by the contract given to his first head coaching hire. But now he's doing it the right way and spending on actual NFL level coaches. The elephant in the room has been the approach to the quarterback position. Get that right and criticism will be very minimal.

It's a big gamble but if the staff think they can develop him I would accept it. That being said. Yeah McShay is the kiss of death here.

If this staff were sold on him and we took Levis at 9 I could live with it and hope for the best. But if we trade up for anyone it should be Stroud.

Idk about Reich but this is just about it for Fitterer regardless. He needs to hit on a QB. This is just as risky as paying Carr 30 million a year. Either way he's staring down the barrel.

Well put. I'm with ya. We all want the same thing ultimately. Well the non full time trolls that is. I would like to have Lamar here but if it costs a haul I'd rather draft one. Rodgers I'd accept but he's so wishy washy I'd still look to the draft over the risk of living with his annual will he or won't he retire drama. With Carr he's more of an unknown between the three. There are people rightly saying the Raiders are a mess. McDaniels is a well documented horrendous head coach. But at the same time I don't buy that it's all one sided. Carr has some of his own baggage if you believe the whispers about him personally and he's been up and down through his career. The talent is there the ceiling is high. But he's 32. He still had some nice weapons there. He was even reunited with Adams one of the best receivers in the league. Someone mentioned a comparison to Jay Cutler and that’s where I'm at. If we signed him I'd support and hope for the best but my gut says it would end the same as our last two attempts at this but that's just me. I think the draft is our only path.

Eh probably initially. Even when Haasan Reddick was here that happened. It will take some time and there will be some lumps but if Fitterer nails the draft that could negate some of the growing pains.

It's fun for the back and forth to argue but this shtick where someone tries to drag another for not knowing anything is pointless. 99% of people posting here don't actually know anything.
