I think they changed it a couple years ago, or maybe it was more recent... But i think even veteran players go through waivers now or something like that. Someone will have to look up specifics.

The good news is, prime Gilmore (if that's what he still is now) is at his best taking out the top receiver. The Patriots don't really have that definitive #1 guy. I'm guessing Gilmore splits between Agholor and Meyers, with the latter being his assignment on every 3rd down. I saw something that said Darnold was on the field but left prior to the time to speak to the media. So likely no word from Darnold, but maybe the staff will offer something. Though I feel like Rhule is good for saying "we'll see on ____ (insert later date)"

Seems kind of weird because it's worded as if it wasn't his wishes to be excused. Most situations like this they say for personal or family reasons or just a reason in general as to why the player asked to be excused.

I am pretty sure (not 100% sure) they didn't have him as a late first round pick. And that is what any "big name" QB right not is projected as, at best.

He plans to finish the season he is currently in first... which he is coaching high school football. Also, people close to him say he would only consider going to a contender... his old ass aint getting up to come here and maybe with luck find his self in a wild card spot
