I think that Joe got flattened by the proverbial bus. Rhule didn't put any experienced NFL offensive play-callers on his staff to help guide Joe, nor did he seem to actually understand the type of offense that Joe wanted to run and whether or not it fit with what Rhule's vision of the team overall was. Joe had some Andy Reid-esque type moments in that he made some very, very bad playcalls in some crucial moments, but his offense never got the opportunity to be displayed behind a competent OL. If that was a selling point, then he definitely failed. If that was just the way the chips fell, then he got the short end of the stick for sure. McAdoo's offense boasts high percentage throws to playmakers in space (which is what we heard re: Brady's offense). The current selling point is that in his first year as Eli's OC he cut the interceptions nearly in half and almost doubling his TDs. He also coached Eli to his highest career completion percentage at the time. Hopefully he can do even better with Sam, but we'll have to wait and see if he can produce a miracle.

Oh, I get it. I took a break for a few weeks myself. While we can't control others, fans do have a lot of valid reasons to be frustrated. Personally, I'm incredibly excited to see what the offense will look like with an experienced play-caller as well as an actual NFL-calibre OL (Erving/Jordan/Elflein/Daley are all back-ups if the team gets a top 3 LT at #6, and Miller is straight up gone). On the other side of the ball, the pass rush has definitely taken a step back with the loss of Reddick, but the pass defense overall should be okay with the return of Horn + DJack. We're going to have a lot more to scream into the void about for the draft. I can't wait.

It's really, really hard for me to see the team have any success with Sam as the QB next season. Even with an improved OL and more experienced OC, I just can't see him being a capable starting QB.

Really wish the team had a 2nd round pick to gamble on Howell, Corral, Ridder, or Strong... Gambled on Darnold instead.

For context: Campen went undrafted himself and was asked about the talent level of the current OT prospects. It was not a declaration of, "Let's go draft a QB at #6 and try to make a bunch of late round picks work."

Of course a defensive player scoring two TDs on back-to-back plays is memorable, it rarely happens! That can't be the standard as that simply isn't something that you see... well.. ever. I mean, it accounted for both of his forced fumbles and fumble recoveries for the season. That alone attests to the rarity. fwiw, his INT vs. Buffalo last year was an impact play and memorable (for me at least). It led to the first scoring drive for the Panthers just before the end of the half when they were down 14-0. Team still got the dog poo beat out of them, but for a moment Jeremy gave us hope.

To add, he improved coverage wise but still statistically isn't very good there yet, but his pass rush numbers improved as well. He still misses a lot of tackles, but the fact that he's still producing AND improving is a good thing.

It's a bad thing for sure if your safety is racking up the stat line, but he was still able to maintain production despite the front seven falling off. Is the answer to make Chinn a LB full time? I don't think so, but that's because it's not necessary due to Snow's defense. He likes having a safety that can play in the box like Chinn does. Having somebody competent deep like Woods will allow Chinn to play more downhill again, and having the defensive line step up will keep him clean since he's only 220.

In Chinn's rookie season when he lined up at LB often, he had: 1 interception 5 pass deflections 2 forced fumbles 2 fumble recoveries 1 sack 5 QB hits 117 combined tackles (68 solo, 49 assists) 2 tackles for loss In his sophomore season at safety: 1 interception 5 pass deflections 1 forced fumbles 1 fumble recoveries 1 sack 5 QB hits 107 combined tackles (75 solo, 32 assists) 6 tackles for loss After being moved 10yds further away from the line of scrimmage, Jeremy Chinn had only 10 less tackles (but 7 more solo tackles), 1 less fumble recovery, 1 less forced fumble, and 4 more tackles for loss. I get that folks love their highlight reels, but how can anybody be claiming that he "disappeared" when the stats clearly show otherwise? Hell, he improved his TFLs while being 10yds further away from the line of scrimmage!

Exactly. The injury concerns alone make the rumored x2 2nd round picks they're asking for him not worth it. At that point, hitch the wagon to Darnold behind a rebooted OL with a new OC + OL coach. Would the Panthers win more with Jimmy Guap? Undoubtedly. That price has to be right tho.

I think that Jimmy G is the best available option for the team currently. He's got a winning record, playoff experience, and is known to be a smart QB that's safe with the ball. If Rhule wants to run a ball control offense, then Jimmy G is the guy. He's led game winning drives as well, including one last year against the Rams where the 49ers had the lowest chance to win out of any team this season. Fans that hated Teddy Bridgewater's style of quarterbacking are probably going to want to go ahead and sit out next season if the Panthers trade for Garoppolo. Most of his yardage comes from quick throws underneath and out to the flats so that his weapons can rumble after the catch. With players like CMC, DJ, and Robby that could work. If Tremble can continue to develop, that would give a much needed reliable tight end presence to work with. There's also the very real issue that Jimmy G has only successfully completed one full NFL season, so I would hope that the only way the team would trade for him is if they really believe that this OL is revamped and ready to go.

Love the Isaiah Thomas pick. I've mocked him to the Panthers with their late 4th round selection. Cade Mays could be decent depth. I especially like the value in the 7th. I hate the rest of it tho.

Jimmy G is the game manager that Rhule has been searching for. If he is the Panthers' starting QB this coming season, then as far as I'm concerned the only way for Rhule's job to be safe is to make the playoffs (and not be embarrassed in the first round). Maybe it's the homer in me, but with an LT @ #6, JimmyG at QB, and one more solid edge rusher they just might be able to do it.

It is hard for me to see McAdoo signing off on Mayfield, but JimmyG was well liked by executives and scouts. Wouldn't be surprised for it to be Jimmy G if there is a move made.
