Josina Anderson: Panthers NOT trading Adam Thielen
Icege replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
2022 HOU WRs: Nico Collins, Brandin Cooks, Phillip Dorsett, Chris Conley, Johnny Johnson, Tyron Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Chris Moore, Amari Rodgers, Jalen Camp 2023 HOU WRs: Nico Collins, Tank Dell, Xavier Hutchinson, Robert Woods, Johnny Johnson, John Metchie, Steven Sims Drafting Stroud was huge but rebooting their WR room and solidifying the OL also made Stroud's life better for the Texans as well. -
Avery Johnson is a lot of fun to watch. Ball security does not exist in this game tho

If AT goes to MIN, we're going TMac/XL/Coker/Renfrow/Tremayne/JHJ/Moore Sounds like it's happening but nothing official announced yet.

Do you know how to find the currently available list of free agents? Not fuging with you btw, genuinely asking. Didn't want to provide you with resources and how to if you were already aware. Mind you, this isn't to say that we should sign somebody and that they will be an impact player, but just looking at the dollar amount. $30M means you can shoulder two $10M+ deals. idk enough about Tillis yet to speak to his tendencies, but from what Dan spoke on last year it sounds like the team likes to keep $12M - $15M going into the season. That's a healthy number that allows the team to sign a guy (or a few) and still roll over a couple of bones.
-
If the team is confident with the medicals, it makes a lot of sense. Lock down the most consistent member of the strongest unit for another two years, reduce the overall cap number which opens up to signing two impact players or rolling it over to next season, and get more flexibility in the upcoming drafts. Another two to three years of Hunt/TMo paving the way on the right side is gonna be lit if TMo's got the knee figured out.
-
This is my hesitation as well because there was a loooooot of smoke about that knee at the end of last season. My hope is that they've got enough data on it to be comfortable enough to keep the good times rolling while having the flexibility in the draft to grab a replacement to develop at any point next offseason or the one after. Fingers crossed that they're being smart with his strength & conditioning to get the most mileage out of it while still keeping him in top playing shape.
-
Solid cap move as it frees up cap space and locks down the most consistent Panther on the roster. Even better culture move for taking care of guys that took care of the team. This also gives the team the luxury of not having to spend a day one pick on an RT. Can still take a swing tackle on day two or three to replace BC while developing him to take over for TMo.
-
New deal brings this year's cap hit down from $31.3M to $23.7M which gets us close to $30M in cap space... WHO ARE WE ABOUT TO SIGN!?!?

Official NFL Cuts Tracker Deadline for roster cuts is Tuesday, August 26th. At this moment (Friday, August 22nd) the only interesting names I see are... K Caden Davis (BUF) RB Ameer Abdullah (SF) WR Equanimeous St. Brown (SF) WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (NO) LB Khaleke Hudson (TEN) Abdullah, St. Brown, Peoples-Jones I don't exactly think we should cut anybody for but it was just interesting seeing those names. Khaleke Hudson was on the Panthers' practice squad last year I believe and might have even gotten called up? And of course, Caden Davis just because of the question mark at kicker this season for the team.

Preseason Week 3 - vs. Pittsburgh (practice tweets, discussion, etc)
Icege replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
Finishing up the game since all I got were the first three drives and the final one last night in the car. Hearing Dan talk about how he wants to go into week 1 with guys healthy makes me think that Blackshear & Carter, who were both reported in boots after the game, are finding their way to the IR. DJ Johnson too? -
I'm jacked every opening day! Plenty of storylines/narratives to follow. Personally, I'm eager to see how the young guys develop (XL, TMac, Bryce, Wallace, Scourton, Ransom, Sanders, Umanmielen), what adjustments are made to the defensive scheme (if any), and how the offense opens up in year two under Canales.
-
6 - 9 wins with the biggest factors being: getting lucky with starters remaining healthy defense gelling together quickly young guys on offense turning it up

I've got an event @ 7:30pm tonight, so I'm probably going to head out in an hour so that I can get there by 7pm and catch the beginning of the game. NFL+ and NFL Pro have been pretty good about getting the replays up soon after the games are done. Figure I'll have plenty to watch while waiting for opening day. -
Turk signed a 3-year, $45M deal but in actuality it's at worst a 2-year, $30.25M w/ a $14.5M signing bonus. His ~$15M AAV puts him at 16th out of all DTs currently (DB is 4th). Milton Williams, for comparison, has an AAV of $26M on a 4-year, $104M deal that had $51M guaranteed at signing. His deal has an out after two years as well, meaning that it can also end up being a 2yr, $55M or 3yr, $79M deal. I can't remember which content creator (maybe Brett Kollman?) made it but there was a really good video on YouTube calling out how reporting the full details of deals was done more for the media to get reactions and eyeballs on the story.

Timestamp of Idzik listing TMac, XL, AT, and Coker as the locks and everybody else fighting for the remaining spots. Saids that they would love 6 - 7 considering the talent that they have. WR Coach Moore mentions JHJ, Canales asks about Renfrow. No mention of Moore nor Tremayne included. That might be more of a behind closed doors type of discussion.
