ESPN'S Matt Miller's pick predictions for Rounds 1-7
MartyClemons replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
You have a 30 year old guard coming off a season ending injury making 25milllion a year who could be released and the $ used elsewhere to shore up other positions while getting a guy whose regarded right up there with Nelson as far as G prospects historically -

Ioane wouldn’t be a depth piece lol -

You get arguably a top 10 prospect in the draft at 19 and a top 30-40 prospect in the 50s and you guys complain. smh -
Your draft plan shouldn’t be based solely on whether they’re starting day 1 cause frankly most rookies aren’t big impact players on day 1 anyway.

I don’t want to give OP too much crap. My counter point would be that most of those positions we absolutely take if we felt the BPA was there. We’d 100% draft Mendoza. QB isn’t in play because no one thinks Simpson will be BPA. RB Isn’t in play because Love will be gone and everyone else is a R2 prospect No C is in play for R1. OT and G are interesting. Not sure Ioane will be there. Some have him as a top 10 prospect, others not as much. At OT I think Mauigoa would be the pick but will be gone. Not sure how Freeling or Fano are viewed. again tho Edge isn’t in contention because the ones worth drafting will be gone. At CB I think we’d consider Delane as BPA if he slipped.

I actually think we’re on the few teams I’d consider for drafting Faulk. His lack of pass rushing productivity gives me reservations for a 4-3 edge. I’ve heard draft guys say some of it was scheme n his job to occupy blockers to free up LBs or whatever. But he hasn’t shown me enough to be a first round edge as a pass rusher. Buts he’s 6’6 280 with long arms and stout against the run. And he’s young and could add size. Think there’s room for him to be a strong fit in an odd front. Not sure he’s my first choice. But I wouldn’t hate it.

FA Splash: Panthers sign Jaelan Phillips EDGE

I’m not sure I love it considering he has 12 sacks over the last 3 years. But if he hits he could really transform the defense -
Dane Brugler from The Athletic 2-round cock draft
MartyClemons replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
As a Miami fan… idk that I’m in on Mesidor this high. I view him as more of an end in a traditional 4 man front. He did play standing up a lot at Miami. But he leaves a little to be desired imo. -
Why trading up in 2026 is a bad idea.
MartyClemons replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
Making blanket statements about trading up or down are kinda meaningless in a vacuum. Sonny Styles is a great prospect. IMO he probably goes top 5. We’d have to give up basically a whole draft worth of pics to get there for a line backer on a team that lacks talent and I wouldn’t love that. I doubt he falls past 7. But in the chance he does. I’d absolutely be thrilled to trade up for him. It just depends on the price But tbh. I like CJ Allen. I think a guy like that could upgrade our LB room and defense overall. And I think someone falls. maybe it’s Sadiq as weapon of a TE. Maybe it’s one of the top 3 WRs. Maybe Delane or McCoy fall There’s going to be good football players where we’re at imo -
NFL.com mock draft: Panthers trade up for Reuben Bain

Bain/Brown would be tough. Rotating in the other guys as well -

Don’t think Bain is there at 11. But he’s arguably a top 5 prospect. -
I mean I said I expected this a few weeks ago. Oh well. We draft Arvell Reese and pair him with Brown create a top tier D

(Potential) 2026 GM Candidate List

I mean yeah because there’s upside. By year 3 we realize BY has limited upside. I felt like the point was pretty straightforward. If the expectation is for Canales or Morgan to win next year with their job on the line. I think it’s hard to target quarterbacks in the draft. Because very few rookies are good football players right away. It’s a position that needs some patience. If we’re going to look at QB, which I think we might be in a position to draft, I think we need be willing to have some patience that we’re probably going to not be very good that first year. -
(Potential) 2026 GM Candidate List
MartyClemons replied to CarolinaLivin's topic in Carolina Panthers
My only question is going forward with QB. We have a shot at Ty Simpson, Moore, Sellers or whoever. As a franchise… and a fanbase are we ready to accept that our QB probably will struggle again next year. Cause Ward and Dart have been bad as rookies. The year before Daniel’s played great… but Williams, Maye struggled as rookies and we haven’t seen enough of Penix or JJ to really judge. I do think it’s an awkward spot to put your GM/HC on a make it or break it year and then expect them to roll out with a rookie QB -
Canales may or may not be the answer. I don’t think last year stuck with Young and an all time bad defense in terms of talent are enough to judge him. Even this year I felt like with Young as our QB and lack of talent I wasn’t sure what people expect. This could change a bit tho. Brown is obviously a beast. A’Shawn played well too. And if Scourton can provide a consistent pass rush I feel like our defense becomes a lot more formidable I’ll reserve judgement til after the season on him
