  1. He was loved in Detroit. That's an awesome get; Williams was a revelation this season.
  2. Tyjae Spears & Chase Brown are 2 RBs I have my eye on. LOVE Spears
  3. I've just always seen a semblance there haha. Especially with the tough-shorty bravado thing going on. "Put em up!, Lemme at em'!"
  4. I don't think Corral is really waiting in the wings. He seems as much as an after thought for our staff as people online. I'm not classifying him a bust by any means, I imagine Reich will be giving him a look this summer, but he was the 94th pick for a reason. They've made clear they're still looking. It's not settle on Corral season. He's just not some high end pick we have to account for, he was within 30 picks of Eason pick # wise (not year), who was Reich's own pick and pretty similar in age 24/25. And they'll know what they're working with well before the preseason rolls around; they know what to spot. Reich made Foles, Wentz, Brissett all look their best and worked with some of the better QBs in the 2000s in Manning, Rivers, & Luck. He knows what he's doing with the modern passing game. They're going to be searching for a guy that works for them, and we'll find out come FA & Draft. I just caution anyone going into this offseason thinking Corral is this QB we can simply just take a chance with and throw to the wolves. If our last staff was even tepid about bringing him into the preseason games in an open comp, then I just highly caution he's more on the QB3/PS territory than QB2/Emergency Starter side of things.
  5. With how bad the Bears backup situation was when Fields missed time, I'd be serious about packaging Corral in the deal to help offset a future pick. We could just as easily pick another mid/late rounder developmental guy in 2024/25. No use in having one in 2023 if we're going top rookie & a vet backup combo for the active-53.
  6. I think it's fair to say it is open season in the NFC. Post-Brady & Rodgers, and the likelihood INDY and HOU are grabbing the top prospects, what are we really working against? I'd say Hurts is the only one that would give a DC heartburn to game plan against. It looks like a window is presenting itself with high end R1 talent all stacking up in the AFC--Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Lawrence, Herbert, Tua, Lamar, Watson, etc. NFC South NO: Dalton? Winston? (They were BAD w/o SP) ATL: Mariota/Ridder TB: Probably looking at a Jimmy G type NFC North MIN: Kirk Cousins CHI: Justin Fields GB: Jordan Love DET: Jared Goff NFC West AZ: Scrappy-Doo LAR: Aged-Arm Stafford SEA: Geno Smith SF: Purdy/Lance NFC East PHI: Jalen Hurts DAL: Dak Prescott NYG: Daniel Jones WAS: Sam Howell That is all. Thanks for visiting.
  7. If Rodgers follows him (or goes to NYJ), how would everyone rank the NFC QBs? Hurts Stafford Dak Kyler Cousins D Jones Geno?? It's pretty crazy how much of a QB wasteland it could be and quick. Best be the team to find one sooner than later.
  8. 2 firsts (2023, 2024) 2 seconds (2023 Pick 60, 2025) 1 fourth (Pick 111) Gross-Matos Matt Corral A $50,000 Alinea Gift Card A years supply of Portillos, Lou Malnatis, & Pequods Tepper low key buys West Loop condos for any players still renting
  9. I thought this was gonna be a Tanner McKee thread by the title haha
  10. It's definitely scenario driven, but I agree pick 3 or 5 are the ideal targets and would be a tad less value wise. It's hard to believe CHI stays put not having their 2nd rounder and needing both DL & playmakers for Fields. Eferblus needs to show some improvement year 2. He needs players. Question is--is it a HOU swap or Indy trade? We should hope it's the HOU swap. With that: 1 HOU - Young/Stroud/Levis 2 CHI - Anderson/Carter 3 AZ is the first trade target to leap Indy, if we can't manage, then if the guy we like is still on the board at 5, we simply call SEA 4 IND - Young/Stroud/Levis 5 SEA -- You call them if we can't figure it out with AZ and the QB we like is there.
  11. Fields has a big issue in the pocket he has still yet to fully correct. When he needs to ditch his first read, there is a visible delay in his next look. And it's long enough that you see that he's still deciding to run or throw to the next read, giving the DL an extra half second to get to him. Big reason for his sack numbers beyond CHI's OL. I think that's what other GMs saw to. He seems smart though and has acclimated to the NFL playbook & overall in-game speed, but it's that processing time (not processing in itself) that is a big knock IMO. Regarding OSU's offense: Day has described his offense as an adjustable one. Will never forget Fitzmagic on PMT (I think) earlier this year, and he described the OSU system and other college ones perfectly. It's not gimmicky, it is simply tailored to the signal caller more than the signal caller is installed within it. Because of that, QBs in college don't learn how to create and throw to the open receivers. They're not throwing guys open and creating plays, they're not learning proper risk/reward as a passer. You gotta push it, even at the risk of your stat sheet and TD:INT ratio. Too many of these QBs care about their numbers and play it safe. Stroud seemed to be on the more safe side during the early season, but was pushed to do the latter and proved he could indeed create. DId it in 2021 and 2022, it wasn't just the UGA game and his future star receivers. He also has really sound mechanics, and was committed as a passer. It's not that he can't run but he committed to becoming a great passer first. I appreciate that a ton. And he's got legs to use, and you know, they don't have a ton of mileage on them either. Stroud has so much to like IMO.
  12. Gene Steratore confirmed on Pat McAfee that he would've called 2 holds on the Chiefs on that final play. By textbook, hould've been offsetting. Also admitted the Hilton PI was not warranted. That game should've gone to OT. Damn shame. One thing is for sure--that crew is relegated to Panthers games next year lol.
  13. The way I look at it, you just can't bank on this kid but you definitely give him a good hard look this summer. He's on contract so see what you've got. Elsewhere, Darnold has as much experience in our TBD offense as anyone available and the FA is a bit average at best. Especially when you look past the guys I can't imagine coming here (Geno-SEA return, D Jones-NYG return, Baker, Teddy, and probably Sam) It's pretty much Jimmy G, Heinecke, Brissett, Mike White, Dalton by process of elimination. Unless you really think we're going after Jackson, Rodgers, or Brady, which I just highly highly doubt. It's just gotta be a draft trade-up QB any which way you look at it. It's like our only option with what's out there. And honestly, draft 2 QBs. You never know who clicks. 1-Stroud A Late Rounder-Haener/Tune/O'Connell And looking at the FA crop, I'm going to be a different here; but it's what I want and think could work: 2023 QB Room: CJ Stroud, Taylor Heinicke Jake Haener/Matt Corral/Jacob Eason battle it out for QB3
  14. Jacob Eason was pick 122 in his draft, and Corral 94. Just a year apart, and Eason was drafted by, you guessed it, Frank Reich. Tighter mechanics, better arm, more traditional, so not the mold he speaks to, but I think there's a fair shot Eason ends up ahead of Corral come preseason. I'm not dissing Corral but he's closer to the PS than the active-53 at this point.
  15. Having lived in Cali in recent years, I also think it's a pretty crap city. The best spots are across the bridge by Sausalito or far south outside town. The actual city has really dipped in quality. Even the trendy/cool neighborhoods for older millennial couples/young fams. This is coming from a City Planner Oakland is even looking better with the amount of improvements going on. San Fran has just had such a disappointing trajectory after being a standard bearer in many ways in the early 00s. Same goes for Portland. East coast & some of the resurgent midwest cities are what's up.
  16. The Cardinals are becoming a big old question mark. Apaprently they're resetting and requesting an interview with Lou Anarumo
  17. Chiefs went and got him. Buffalo went and got him. Baltimore went and got him. Cinci was #1 and took him their guy. Same with JAX. Hell, PHI and SF went and got their guy that didn't even work out, so lost the picks to a bust, and still made it as far as they did the past few years. So it comes to show even losing the future drfat capital isn't always some huge setback. If they found a QB, I honestly don't mind giving away what could be a mid or late 1st rounder in 2024. You'll likely be doing the same thing next year with your 2025 pick if you like Caleb/Maye/Ward/Penix/JJ. If Stroud or Young is the guy, sure. Do what you need to.
  18. Campen's Zone/Power Hybrid that he ran in GB shows well in that respect. He knows every scheme and how to blend them. He coached up two of my fave OL prospects in the past decade in Bitonio and Bakthiari so I think we've got a lot to really like with the approach. This bodes really well for Brady & Icky.
  19. You could see how he was good at diving into details without giving away the meat and potatoes. Different responses, with varying depth, and if anything, I am 100% reassured we're finally going to have a 3,800+ yard, 20 td+ passer again, and soon.
  20. I love that he knows NFL nuances and vernacular like it's a language in itself. Our fundamentals and discipline is gonna get a lot better. He just knows how to navigate pro-football. You can tell when compared to Rhule. He just knows it like clockwork.
  21. I wanna thank that dude for his two questions on offense & lessons learned. That got a good response. Balanced Offense that can run & get chunk plays. Can have the long drives but get big plays quickly when needed. And his confidence in getting a passing game going was reassuring. He knows what he's doing with the passing game.
  22. It will definitely feel like he's more in control of the moment and not this awe struck youngling or out of element college guy. I think we'll definitely sense why Tepper/Fitt/Dan went in this direction in thinking about it in that regard. He garners respect, people like playing for him and coaching with him.
