  1. I remember looking at him after they drafted him and thinking ... maybe (if I squinted I could almost see it). Then he got hurt, after looking like dogshit his first time(s) out as I remember it. That doesn’t help you.
  2. He had insane physical gifts. I used to complain that he didn’t immediately start fixing all that his first offseason and each one after and never felt like he did. Because I knew what that could do for him (and us). Next level. Which I wanted to see happen. A whole lot of people here just insinuated or outright said I was a F150 or something for criticizing him.
  3. We aren’t even one game into the Morgan/Canales era. I know, Tepper. An era could be 6 weeks. We don’t have a lot to go on as far as are they going to excel and things are already changed, or they suck and things are already the same. We just don’t know yet.
  4. Would Fox have been as flexible with the offense though? Would he have been rigid and insistent on Cam running say, Dan Hennings’ scheme? Ron did allow alternative football to be played. Not arguing or correcting just asking.
  5. Pretty much agree. There is little doubt that JR heard stuff around his dinner table growing up and it goes from there. I heard that stuff, when I was 10. Grandparents. Bet yours said some stuff too lol. You get in the world and learn, hopefully. Personally I am pretty much of the MLK value system and try and go case by case with people. All kinds of people. I do think that JR probably evolved through playing with guys and having players on his team that he got to know. And maybe the Black guy would call him a cracker or ofay or whatever. Tempers flare poo gets said sometimes.
  6. I know... I am a dumbass for not appreciating Bryce Young but I would rather have Sam.
  7. They cancelled JR big time. Until I see the actual accurate account of the racist slur part of the ‘case’, I am not judging him on it. People lose their temper and say poo sometimes because they want to hurt the other person and can’t come up with a reasonable insult. That is why people call people names, as far as I can understand. It happens. People get pissed and say stupid things they wish they hadn’t. That is a fact. I would like the real details before I go into judgement mode. When I was young and pretty I worked an assembly job at a GE TV plant for about 6 months. My line supervisor was gay and he didn’t ever touch me with his hands but man oh man he harassed the hell out of me. (You can’t move on an assembly line, but you supervisor can). I needed the job so I dealt with it. It sucks, but you know he never got any satisfaction and I didn’t sue him or GE. I put up with his poo for the paycheck. I left when I could, end of story. No boo hoo and boycotts and lawsuits. Some of these people who get these settlements, I wonder really, how bad was it that you couldn’t endure it for that probably pretty good paycheck. So I am one who thinks on balance, what I know *for a fact* about JR doesn’t make him a bad enough guy to be forced to sell the team he started. ( edit: I really am fine with condemnation, but need facts before I go there). Something tells me Tepper was afoot in that poo.
  8. I can’t see Bryce Young getting to the Super Bowl unless he is a backup. You aren’t talking about beating most teams, having a nice season. It’s beating everybody just to get there. For his sake I hope I am wrong.
  9. BigHank88 Okay, Beason: in his time or now looking back? Maybe I should have read the OP better. I was going from now. I hardly ever hear much about him.
  10. Beason might be one. Joke answer Eddie Piniero. Jeno James is my blast from the past name I haven’t heard in a while. As far as Shaq, we have been blessed to have some great linebackers over the years, the standards are really high. Speaking of, Will Witherspoon. I think he was about rightly appreciated though.
  11. These are great stories if the guy becomes someone. Good luck to him.
  12. I’d like to hear the reason for it.
  13. I think they get extra because of new coach. They should take every day they can hopefully it is rescheduled.
  14. Maybe his wife had an awakening. Who else is he really going to listen to? Whether it was accidental or not, this Morgan/Canales decisions seem like they could work.
  15. Meant to post the quote: As for the huddle. Honestly most of us post here out of habit. It's a habit hard to break. No different than the majority of the population that can't stop scrolling Facebook or X. ----------- Yeah it is hard to swear off. I was a football fan long before the Panthers and they are my connection to that. I much prefer NFL football and will come here to argue over it (uhh, discuss), that’s a big part of following a team.
  16. It’s been bad football, compared to other teams. I feel a lot better since I went to delayed replays that come up ad free too, and decide when I want to watch them rather than giving up the Sunday only to be miserable. I just stay away from the NFL all day which isn’t hard I don’t play FF any more. If I some how see or hear the score it doesn’t bother me because the games don’t matter, I’m still gonna watch the plays get run.
  17. I get the rookie QB formula and fully expected to see it implemented. Oh well. For the run game there was no or very little under center stuff until a good ways into the year. At least that is how I am remembering it. And no deep throwing - so stacked boxes which you can say chicken or egg on why. Hard to run like that. The QB that people said was so great was pulled for a designated Hail Mary thrower. That’s pretty unusual. And may speak to why we saw few deep balls in some part, along with the OL. To ignore that stuff means you aren’t working with all of the information when you try to mentally model or project what it might be like on the field. Me, I have a slice of hope that he could maybe be NFL average but getting him to be a plus type of QB is a huge job. It depends on designing the playbook with certain values at the foundation that have to be adhered to first . You have to integrate the other pieces around this one guy’s skill set because he is a real outlier. And he has to learn the under center skill set. Maybe put that Only Positive thread back up people can go there if they don’t want to deal with rightly frustrated fans.
  18. It is tiresome for sure. This whole 6 year run is tiresome. I am tired of this team. Really just, can’t stand ownership’s reign and decision making and am worn the fug down by them. And the people who defend their mistakes, year after year. Oddly enough I have optimism, slight but it is there. Not about Bryce, he represents the bad Tepper decisions to me and either will change that opinion or he won’t. I just have a decent feeling about the Morgan and Canales duo.
  19. That's not totally the case. It is hard to discuss future without a crystal ball, you look at the past the to assess and project, and there is a lot of on field negative from year one. Some people say throw it out. You can’t dismiss things that were on him and not the OL or Reich or Chark or Mingo etc., if you want the real story. That footwork is not just people picking on him, it is probably a huge barrier to his potential success. All the passing comes from a base and if it is off the throws are hard to trust. OTA optimism is fools gold tbh. It buys nothing. We have seen the skins and shirts all stars enough times to know what that is. We will need real football at real football game speed which we won’t get even in preseason. That said I expect him to somehow make his way to somewhere in QB tiers or rankings to maybe low 20s. Gotta win 6 at least for that. My opinion is if they can make a playoff run with a 4th tier QB then fine but I’d just as soon go over to the side of those who for years held out for a QB capable of taking the team to and winning a SB. I am not thinking he is that guy so far but taking this year to find out is necessary.
  20. That known quantity quality WR under a bargain multi year contract is a large part of the price too. That’s what really got me about it. Spend all that for an outlier QB and take away the best WR on the team. And they spent the next two years chasing WRs. That makes sense right?
  21. Yeah, Chud. Agreed. I really liked his first year and hated him in the 2nd because of what you are saying there..
  22. I have to say, if I were Stroud and they took Young over me, I believe I’d think they didn’t know anything about anything and I was lucky not to have to go there.
  23. Why are they cutting a day of practice and training out?
  24. I hope not. It likely happens if Young is banged up. There isn’t a real incentive to dump Bryce if he is stinking it up... best be not trying to win if that’s what is going on. I still think Dalton would give you the best chance.
