  1. Okay, just assume for this he does not get better than mediocre. To win with that you will have to assemble plenty of really good talent around the player. Which, efforts were huge to make that a reality. Take the mediocre QB out and put in an above average QB it’s a new game. That’s the thought process behind not wanting a mediocre QB. I don’t understand why that is bad.
  2. yep. This was a bad idea from the start. If the guy at the top is can’t miss, you aren’t able to get to the 1st pick in the first place. So it was a wing and a prayer type of move.
  3. It is nothing to do with him personally Navy. I admire his work ethic and attitude as I understand it to be. I just wouldn’t have put a nickel on him being worth the cost or deserving of being top selection. edit for last horseshit: I have given him credit for things he did well. I have eyes. They say good freaking luck with this player. Then people like you that give me poo for my opinions have not even one time that I remember acknowledged things I pointed out from the jump. I am guessing because they must be too fan boi to even look for the flaws.
  4. The minute his name was called was the lowest point I think I have had around a draft.
  5. If that were a sure thing I’d feel a lot better. That is win either way, if he is good. It kind of boils down to hope, maybe a little encouragement versus Belief. Solid feeling, with strong evidence. My biggest Panthers fear is him not being really good but them just hoping he can progress in another year so they are gonna rinse and repeat. Which is what is most real right now.
  6. I finally watched that. Most of it. People are gonna hate me but they probably do already so F it. Only the Bryce, I’m not looking at Stroud. Some of those throws are very good, there are some you might call big time but there is a generous helping of things maybe not that big time. First impression: I think they had to include some pretty average stuff to have enough to make a clip.
  7. Yeah I hear you. I am hoping we have some things going better with the football side. What they talked about re meshing the scouts and coaches to get lined up with each other, I felt like maybe they know a thing or two.
  8. I admit it. Done it a few times but he had something in that video that I'll confess to. First, never wanted him in the draft, and was very strongly against selecting him. 100% against. I don’t really see anything that tells me I am off base yet. So I expect him to maybe look better but even so, here is the point: Donnelly asks if people that want him to fail? He has to kill it this year to get me off of that train. I feel like him being average or game manager and like, the 23rd best QB if he improves.... I don’t want that again in ’25 and ’26. If our QB is gonna be mediocre, may as well take another shot at better.
  9. That Pro Day and watching his footwork did him in for me. Just no way #1 in the draft worthy. We had invested so much in that trade to spend it on that? I came into it not having watched him live in college. Don’t watch much of it. So maybe I wasn’t influenced by his college accomplishments so much? He just looked like a real hard way to go. I can’t say I knew, but I strongly felt that we were going to see something not so great. We’ll see what that lipstick we've been applying to the offense can do. He should look better. If Young doesn’t look 180 degrees turned around, and depending on Williams’ season... the potential for all time level idiocy, futility, all that stuff... is high.
  10. I don’t know these people, but wouldn’t they be down the pecking order of deciding the pick? Hoping maybe it doesn’t mean a whole lot.
  11. That’s about all that would be relevant though. You could find something else I’m sure, but the point being attempted by most college video posters is almost exclusively not that. Normally it’s him, running plays against college guys. And the people doing that usually try to show him achieving, not totally understanding the real level difference between college players and NFLers. I know we disagree on his arm, I do see some things he can do, but his game is college. IMO. And showing him winning there, well that’s about all it proves. He could win there. I was good for him and good for Alabama fans, doesn’t help us now.
  12. In a QB mistake discussion, with us mired in the hangover of our drunken 2023 binge, WTF do you expect people to say?
  13. Not touting the deal really. My opinion was in comparison to our situation, the Falcons' mistake is a lightweight oops. I wouldn’t have paid Cousins like that in the first place, but the NFL prints money so they’ll get over it.
  14. If they screwed it up, it’s one pick. Kind of like if we’d taken Levis maybe, at 9 in 2023. That is their worst case. Would you rather do that and hit or miss, or what we did?
  15. Tell the rest of these fine folks then. I mean, surely you are able to articulate his strengths.
  16. Please list a few, NFL level strengths. On field playing QB stuff not oh he is really smart or really has a great attitude, not that stuff. And nothing about what he did in college against college athletes. What does he do well in the NFL? So I know.
  17. Well we are in state of blackout as far as learning anything. And that will likely continue through preseason just like last year. What we learn had better be a lot different. Or else lol.
  18. It is also really hard to change things. Which is why I was really skeptical about his mechanics and such being reworked by the staff. I could help, more likely is a huge can of worms.
  19. I doggone remember plenty. That kind of arm, on a all timer or even like, a 12 year journeyman, those guys are more equipped to work with the limitation. It has to be about the scheme with Young. System. Whatever you call it. Custom designed.
  20. Older QBs surviving playing well after they have lost their fastball is an excellent point. They have a career of experience and could do things with Young’s arm that he can’t do. I think it is maybe not apples to apples.
  21. His entire contract is basically 90% guaranteed he got a 24 mil signing bonus and a similar prorated amount. You could save a a few million roster bonus, for '25 and '26. If he is horrible draft someone. Make them beat him out. He can be #2 for ’25 before the season is over. Maybe before camp. If he’s great in ‘24 then no problem. (I’d be scouting QBs right now).
  22. Toddler or not, average height or not, he will look pretty ridiculous to me standing out there when they give people those huge padded helmets. I really would like to just fast forward a year or two.
  23. Oh boy a floor of 25th best QB. Williams better really really suck.
