Was basically the same stuff being said last year at this time I don’t remember but the Bryce fawning was insufferable around here a year ago. It is running around playing flag football right now. I know waiting sucks, believe me, but football hasn’t started yet.

Remaining schedule until the start of the season

That’s whining not dining. -
It is going to only go two ways from the pocket. Or three if leaving it is a thing but it has to be throwing to a spot, blind, based on timing. Or throwing lanes. Spacing stuff to designate one for a given play or just a spread out in general way to provide a lane to throw through.

I do think they could have hired the right guy going off of what there is to see so far. Everyone is green sometime and it is a journey of correcting mistakes for the most part, for a while until you get comfortable. I’m simply not bitching about him this year because maybe he was hired pretty green. Like, he has ascended the ladder so fast after his years of being on the lower rungs, I expect a learning curve. but I think he is up to it. 2025 will be a closer look at his job performance.

Yeah, and never mind the firefighter that died or the other wounded.
-
And we have seen him run for a first, unplanned. But probably more often we see getting caught for a loss seemingly not aware of the pursuit closing the gap. He has to learn what he can and can’t get away with.

I mean, on paper of course, the running game should be there if they can keep 8 and 9 people out of the box. That is the assignment. Make an offense that the defense can’t cheat like hell on.

I Am at the beach. There is no real point in getting on things right now if someone has a crappy day. Maybe except Icky or something, that would bother me. Or riding their jock if they have a good one. The truth shows up when the pace of play picks up and the contact is for real. I’m waiting to see that. -
As the long game relates to us, we need to make people defend it, as has been said. Chiefs: No one had an answer for Kelce for a couple years running. People could not defend him. Short medium long.

If Smitty can help him with the head games and mental side of competing against CBs, do it. He was an expert at getting them out of their game. And in general, he knows a trick or two. Probably just a good thing that Mingo has a guy that good as a mentor. Just need to make sure Smitty and Rob Moore are good and on the same page.

Gonna have to see that arm strength in action that’s for sure. Never said it Couldn’t work, but man the windows and margins are not minor obstacles.

Brooks for sure is no J Stew and that is what we are lacking still, a guy that will move a pile enough to get that tough yard. But if he can hold onto the ball, hit the holes they give him it should work okay and if he can add a receiving threat into the equation, that could be a really good thing. -
I guess my point is, where the hell is medium? Did they just do away with it? There should not be some binary system that doesn’t allow for a finer categorization than over or under 20 yards.
-
Yeah I bet it would be hard to see that from our team in under 2.7.

I thought Blackshear looked pretty good when given the ball. Surprisingly. If this OL is actually good, we aren’t gonna be but so horrible. -
The OL will be better this time.

fug that. That is a malicious definition, it completely disrespects actual legit great throws. We need some reform. not that a 20 yard throw can’t be great. It’s isn’t a great 30 yard, or 40 yard throw though.
-
It’s kind of a two faceted thing. The biggest issue last year was not stretching the defenses, having no deep ball threat, and that was evident from the very first game; it was a problem. So we are looking hard to find what they are going to do about it this year. Stretching the defense is high on the agenda for success, and people are alert to it. So then we start talking deep balls, people are all “15 yards, 20 yards” is a deep throw.

That is the sensible approach. You have to earn that. -

I can count on you to research that stuff why should I? Joking. I know what the people say I just think it is inadequate. I believe it is a probably a function of FF or something because rarely in every day talk do people refer to a 20 yard pass as a deep throw. But they need their grading system. I am really not aiming this at Young’s arm, not trying to stretch the definition past what he can throw just to dog him. Haven’t used the term rainbow, duck, rope, any of that descriptive stuff. I do not give a poo what some writing somewhere says when I have eyes. That is pretty much it.
-
Somebody claimed 15 yards is a deep throw. You could take a sack and need to complete a deep ball to get a first down. It seems pretty silly.
-
You are injecting this because it suits your narrative and fanhood IMO. Because it is really just some stat keeping crap. Does ANYONE think DCs are looking at a 15 yard pass as a deep throw? Maybe with us in 2023 but the real world? I just completely disagree. And don’t care what bullshit people use to justify it. Okay? Deep is over the top. Attempting to get behind the defense. A fuging 15 yard pass does poo to stretch a defense. Maybe it stresses them but it does not stretch them.

That’s messed up. Daryle Lamonica could have never gotten his his nickname throwing 15 passes. The mad thrower?
