  1. And that is somewhat defensible considering the QB had 448 what was it, 3 TDs in his last game? Time to be a big boy and do it when called on. Honestly, I don’t think in reality, we were in the running for the division looking at the respective schedules of TB and us. You got to be aggressive. I mean I don’t look at that failure as punting the playoffs to pump Bryce. If anything, it is trying to get Bryce established as playoff worthy.
  2. I don’t keep up, had no idea about flipping off fans.
  3. He fits the profile for me. For taking a shot. We aren’t talking 1st round.
  4. I would agree but he has about a half capable QB to deal with. That offense has to be limited. I can’t imagine what he had to pull off the table. Just play action alone, big challenge.
  5. They are definitely out there condemning Canales and absolving Young. Which, condemn Canales if you want but then leave Young responsibility free? Nah, that is just Bryce fanning.
  6. He should. And I know what he looked like this year. But even if he is an AR type of level project, he has legit tools; you might be able to get him in a much more reasonable slot where you could for sure afford to work with him a couple of years before running him out there. edit: I mean, if he doesn’t stay in school.
  7. Not singling you out, someone else said this too. Meant to raise this earlier Does the OL coach have a say in who he wants to sub in? I know who has authority to overrule but wouldn’t they consensus this stuff? They have a run game coordinator, and OL coach an OC and Canales. Wouldn’t Canales ask opinions? “Coach Gilbert, who looks good for G?”
  8. I don’t think that. I might think that he is pushing Young to sink or swim. Rise to the challenge or don’t. I could think that he believed Young was gonna kill it. Not sure what I think past if Young can’t do it we need to try someone else. And I don’t think he can do it.
  9. You’re. It’s if you don’t think Tepper wanted Young. Talk about delusional.
  10. I suppose you could say that except the situations are night and day different. I am not talking about anything on the level of foolishness that got us here. Talking about replacing a league worst QB. If you went wrong, how much worse off could you possibly be?
  11. Totally lost respect for Fox over his pettiness in 2010. He went from hero to zero for me. I loathed him because of it. He quit but stuck for that check. edit: but, it was just one season. Before that he was pretty darned good.
  12. I remember that poo well. It was an offseason of retraining Young’s footwork/throwing process. He had a decent single drive in preseason vs Buffalo where you could see him executing the new technique on a few passing downs. Go to the opener vs New Orleans and he stuck with it until the end of the first quarter. It went totally out the window and he reverted to his horrible unique to him technique. That was, is and always will be a total fail. I think he’d have been yanked right there if Canales wasn’t brand new. Bryce was absolutely horrible those first two games. By the end of the second game we had WRs openly rebelling and pitching fits on the sidelines. Benching him was the only option at that point.
  13. I don’t fundamentally disagree about Canales being weak. Honestly and maybe unfortunately for me, I think he sounds feminine. Have said so. And don’t think that plays in a super competitive hyper masculine environment such as a football locker room. If he is great at his job people will overlook something like that I think but he isn’t so far. It is a given that he wasn’t ready for the job experience wise. So you have a strike there. But at the root of it he is here because of Bryce Young. No one wanted the job and people say it was Tepper but come on, look at it and tell me that coaches are gonna line up to risk their career when Bryce being locked in as your QB is part of the deal. And he really was the deal with the hiring. So the only way I think we could come out with a possible upgrade is getting rid of both Canales and Young. Maybe a quality coaching candidate becomes more interested when being allowed to pick his QB. At the same time, could Canales’ lerformance improve with a real QB? That is a fair question too. edit: I forgot the continuity card. I think it is supremely important and I think it is a major contributor to our years of dysfunction under Tepper. (Constantly undermining continuity in all areas) *starting with switching to the 3-4 in year two of ownership We have some good things going on there and I believe we should be cautious about disrupting it.
  14. It seems like the only time he gets heavy with the run is when the QB forces him to. And it should have the other night.
  15. You were a Wilks guy right? I was too. There is a difference in attitude between defense and offense. I know there are several excellent offensive minded guys doing a great job it is just a bias I have, that I admit. I grew up a fan of hard nosed ball and great defense.
  16. I think you know. Apparently winning is secondary to Bryce’s development. Same as it has been. In a way it may be good because we didn’t need to make the playoffs and extend this fuging charade about Bryce being the guy. Better in the long run if he gets enough rope to hang himself with.
  17. I see your level of annoyance. I just don’t see the same level of commitment to the cause. I don’t know who is a 100% go down with the ship Canales stan. You might think I am because I try to be patient about it but you would be wrong.
  18. And he isn’t faultless. By any means. But I agree you can’t fairly evaluate anyone with Bryce.
  19. That is worldwide. Sure it happens here too. The American way is work you way up the ladder. Hard work. Not afraid to get your hands dirty. Or it used to be. or marry the boss’s daughter, that always works too.
  20. No way. People that support Bryce are entrenched and rabid. It isn’t the same level of commitment. You can be equally annoyed but those two groups are not equally invested. I have or had other valid reasons for not wanting Canales prematurely fired. We have had a revolving door of coordinators, GMs, HCs for too long and I think we are seeing the benefits of continuity in the development of some of these younger players and the draft process that acquires them. I am really not a big personal fan of Canales. I was never a fan of getting an Offensive minded flavor of the week coach whether it was Canales or any other trendy play caller pick. I also think I understand how huge the job is and know his experience level makes it a given that there will be frequent missteps. I made a policy of way more patience than I naturally possess in the case of Morgan and Canales. But I am not riding Canales to the bottom while blaming he doesn’t have this or that. I have felt that I would like to see him get another QB before folding on him, because I wouldn’t wish Bryce on anybody. At the same time some poo is wearing thin.
  21. Can’t disagree. Anointed. Hated it then, would hate it again. Entitlement type of crap and honestly it is unAmerican lol. There is a lot gained when you and others know you have earned your way. Respect from self and from from coworkers comes with that.
  22. They never even tried to pretend that he had to win tne job. I hated that. At least make it a fake competition for appearances. Naw, just install him.
  23. It was not the first time. But it all runs together. I can’t remember if it was him or the year before Frank whee saying during the week they were gonna have to get someone involved more and the game comes and it never happens. Seems to me you make them prove they can stop your run game before you just go to throwing the ball. OTOH I understand setting up the run with the pass as well but throw those backs out there and see what SF can do.
