Do we attempt to extend Diontae this season?
strato replied to Panthercougar68's topic in Carolina Panthers
As of today, I don't foresee Dalton wanting to leave unless they want him to. It's a good situation for him and that's been hard to find. -
Best and worst PFF grades from Panthers' Week 4 loss to Bengals

My Canales approval had a large element of the QB whisper stuff. Having a coach with those skills in place here when scouting Young's replacement was big positive for me. -
To be honest, I caught so much poo for not believing in Young that I made a conscious decision to temper what I really thought with optimism. I did think it was possible he could be better in 2024 with those little college rollouts and whatever else Canales was going to design. But I didn't believe in him still, to play an NFL kind of game and was really disappointed in the prospect of watching the Alabama offense in Panthers uniforms. But, I thought I would maaayyybe see him using the pocket and learning to find the lanes where he could maybe see downfield. I am not the smartest person lol.

That’s a different one, and at least does have the usual ‘league source’. But still no direct statements. -
Okay. I never gave it a lot of thought but also never figured him (Chuba) to be the bell cow type, just a complimentary dude.

I mean, LOT seems the likely spot to produce the leader in that category, but it seems like a lot . -
If they were half as bad and the offense stayed potent, things would be looking way up.

Until Bryce came, Baker showed me some of the worst quarterbacking I had seen from the Panthers, I mean I am not even sure Grier was that bad. Clausen maybe, but he was really bad. His opening half against .. Cleveland (?) was nauseatingly bad. edit: he had a better 2nd half I think but he was not good at all.

Except, please show me those words. I don't see that he said that, all I see is the writer saying that he said it. We have the same quote we have seen about he's a Panther etc etc. Let's look at it: That is what is in the article. Then there is Canales saying this: fuging 'journalists' these days. This is not accurate reporting. No attribution to the claims made within. Print it though.... -
If they can get the DL as straight as they got the other side, everyone else gets better.

I don’t remember if I said 5 or 6. Now, that was an estimate and not a bar or measure of any success. But there is no doubt that .500 would be a success to me. I have never been a SB or bust type. I want consistency. A shot at the playoffs, taking the division. Less ambitious goals but the idea is you can’t get to a SB unless you are in the contest. I think that meaningful games until the last couple of weeks at least is my bottom line for reasonable expectations from my teams. Every year. Not wondering if can we make it to a .350 winning percentage if things go okay.

Thanks. Someone else told me that too. Those JAGS I mean, replacing them with other JAGS, is about what it seems like it would be.

He didn't have a losing season as a pro until his 6th year. He knows his business. He has been the man that the whole organization looks to. And the fanbase. It isn't too big for him. He had some tough years and has now been bouncing around for a while, I am sure he relishes this opportunity to work.

Personal experience, they were set up and perimetered up within hours of Hugo. They stage them and when the weather eases up enough to get to it, they move. I am not there so what would I know but at the same time I don't get why people aren't seeing them after a couple of days it seems like was more like 3 or four or longer.

Rationally we know that had we taken the right QB the Bears would not have been selecting number one but it was such a fuging horrible series of decisions by Carolina. Absolutely, if you didn't watch college and develop an attraction or affinity about the player you would be able to view it more realistically. But that's not in any way supposed to be a guy working for an NFL team at the level where he would have influence like that.

Well Williams seems to be mostly a bust because he thinks he is better than he is. I haven't watched enough to really say but what I've seen is about that. He has tools and could possibly learn to work with what he has in the NFL and make it better. (he seems to be playing like he is still in college) for the Bears guy...Our DBs aren't horrible, but we don't get any pressure generally so they are stressed. He'll have a chance to succeed on Sunday. We'll see.

Well Dalton has proved it and was the guy for a long time in Cincinnatti. Quite a difference. You would not have gotten Dalton in like, his year three for what they spent on Darnold (and he wasn't that bad a deal until they did that option thing before its time). It isn't a comparison until Darnold becomes the guy somewhere. But Sam Darnold has tools. Serious NFL level tools. And has played well in stretches. Actually has shown all the qualities you look for, just not at the same time. But you see them, at least. Andy is killing it and I was listening to him talk to the media people and he has given it up a few times and I've never heard people describe how he works until him, that I remember. His thing with timing is, it sounds like, throwing to the spot and reverse engineering how that is going to work between him and the receiver. Paraphrasing, I know you will be in that spot, ands will get open to get there. I'm not good reteller but I'll post the example. This isn't the first time he has said things about how it works. He has the ability to throw to a specific place with the trust in the receiver to be there when the ball is. So that's his game. He could not look this good without the protection he's getting, fwiw. You can't use the same spots the same way or you're predictable, but I am seeing Canales' hand in this poo too. I like the way both of them seem to see the game. oh yeah here is the video.
