Eight of Bryce Young's nine wins have come off game-winning drives
strato replied to TN05's topic in Carolina Panthers
That t was my reaction too. How many stinkers has he sat through before forming that conclusion? I mean maybe he is an NFL QB but what I have seen he is a part time NFL QB, on his good days. But he doesn’t have that many good days. It ain’t his ceiling as much as it is his floor that is the issue. PS, Chris Long would not have been afraid of him even a little. He’d be salivating. -
That is going to have to be the way, if he stays because we can’t pay two LOT deals. Now, I am all about the cumulative, in the sense that you can win a draft with a bad top pick if you hit elsewhere, and in this scenario, what is the entire group costing you. Like if Icky gets a lot money but we draft a new LOT and move him over and add the two contracts, they total up like two decent values. PS I wanted to make Icky a guard before Dan did his guard stuff. And have to say, I have seen Hunt look pretty bad at times and with th success of the rushing game without him and not sure he was necessary. Great player but maybe not for the price.

I can enjoy the moment without succumbing to reality denying optimism over it
-
I would prefer Icky be moved to ROT before being paid, not after. but the Motion deal made that impossible.
-
He isn’t a QB so maybe we are safe from insane overpays.

The QB is spotting them points every other game and Dallas is the number one offense. The rushing yards allowed totals are impressive the last two weeks. -
I am kind of ambivalent mainly because I am aligned with the ‘don’t give Chicago more treasure’ sentiment. If he forces his way out take ATs pick and get him. That would make it a very good trade.

If he can’t be good there he can’t be good. -

Was looking at the box, play by play. 1st half. I think 113 yards passing no TDs no picks. A 30 yarder included, can’t figure if it was a short one with YAC or downfield. Team had ten points at the half. 20 in the second half. Much more yardage too, he ended with around 300. 312 two 4th quarter TDS no picks https://www.espn.com/nfl/boxscore/_/gameId/401547617 1st half was not horrible at all and better than his norm but I think I am sticking with the second half assessment. Where it was more impressive and productive. -
I would say you have a higher threshold for poo football than I do. I was at the just make it stop point in 2022. These last three years with the exception of the past two weeks have been misery. I remember the Panthers being fairly regular winners in a couple of stretches. Long ago.

As I remember it, it was a second half game. Not complete as this last one was. And what followed it? Two games of gooseggs and then the two to start 2024. maybe I need to go back and look at it but I think I remember the arguments afterwards. And we lost the game too. -
Are you saying what we have been watching is the suffering we must go through to get the ring? How long has that been going on now? Do you feel like if we just continue the dues paying we will be rewarded? To me this like when you are getting tortured and you finally get to where you are begging someone to just kill you to make it stop hurting. I’ll take a couple of blowouts a year for and against and the rest .500 competitive, football that is at least watchable over what they have given us for the better part of 7 years now. They have killed my spirit. It is like you are chasing the hot chick and keep getting your heart broken when if you would just accept the butterface that treats you right, your life would be so much better.

You may not be making the excuses but they are there. I gave him what I consider high praise and at the same time feel like it is totally valid to look for him to be in a position where it is on him to lift it up because the box is full and there isn’t any yardage to be had on the ground, you know the scenario. I mean that is a test he has yet to convincingly pass from my memory. . You may or may not have seen but I gave him props for Sunday. Absolutely his best game afaic and he did it for 4 quarters. Which seems like a first. Maybe a second, but it is rare. Year three and everything but the kitchen sink has been thrown at helping him not fail; standards are high and should be high before he gets yet more years. -
Ravens listed initially but no Harbaugh on the list. Which, fwiw, I wouldn’t fire that guy if they went 0-16. It would take consecutive dismal seasons for me to go there.

Pro tip: stay away from the Bruce threads.

That is not wrong and I am really not taking a firm position but the Steelers was week 1. Notorious for having unpredictable results. Performances. Good and bad but mostly bad. The game against Tampa looks to have been a really solid effort. It is the NFL and still ‘any given Sunday’ applies and yep we are the Tepper Panthers so that goes double.
-
Well it is the Tepper Panthers after all, confidence is fools gold more often than not. That team imploded Sunday during and after the game. I bet that overseas flight home was fun. It would take a very unlikely week of work and kumbaya in that locker room to reverse the locker room/HC dynamic and restore them to pulling in the same direction This definitely falls into the category of a game we should win. That too often we don’t do what we need to do.

I know you are talking about my post. You are playing your typical game. Twisting it into something and then attacking over it. The straw man. There was no statement made that it was Bryce’s fault. None. We are three years into the hole created by dropping 3 years of top assets into a ill advised course of action that he is the centerpiece of. After an interim coach went 6-6 and we had a QB that has played far better than Young and probably will continue to do so. We spent those assets on a guy that has produced two excellent games in his career to date . Every other game he had success in was a good quarter or half or even a single drive at the end. It is Tepper’s fault for picking him and for generally ruining the franchise. -
I don’t know about the college but that is very rookie drafted since Tepper bought the team. That stuck anyway.

It is what it is. Could be a reaction to to mirror behavior of the pro Bryce people where everything good is because of him and everything bad is because he has no help. -
He was good Sunday. But that was with us dominating in the run game and really not under much duress. Start to finish his most consistent effort in his NFL career. The bar that set is so high compared to his typical performance. And again the conditions were ripe for him to succeed It was like, okay great but you need to do that every week. Abd he will never have the gun I consider essential to make people defend the whole field. So we’ll see.
-
I haven’t watched either. Planned on it Sunday and two places I wanted to go were both closed. It was the nor’easter slamming us hard here on the coast and I just went with the radio and the game thread. you can find every snap by Sunday night anyway. That is my MO since last December. Radio broadcast was great. I missed Greg Olsen but wasn’t getting that in a bar environment anyway. That was the best game in YEARs. Even better than Andy vs LV which to me had the top slot for the Bryce era.
