Graham Gano has now made 34 straight field goals
LinvilleGorge replied to TN05's topic in Carolina Panthers
https://www.footballoutsiders.com/extra-points/2020/clutch-kicks-1985-2019 Gano 63% on clutch kicks as of 2019. Interesting to note, Kasay weighing in even worse at 58%. Both among the NFL's worst since 1985. -
I just don't think there was anyone else bidding.
-
This. I was fine giving Darnold a shot. But I hated the trade compensation. It really felt like we were probably bidding against ourselves. I think we would've ultimately gotten him for less had we drove a harder bargain. It's also baffling to see a guy like Minshew who had played better in just as bad of a situation later go for a 6th. In on every deal? We should've been in on that one given our backup situation and the roll of the dice at starter. Who cares if Darnold feels pushed? Hell, he needs to feel pushed. What has he done to go into a season as an unquestioned starter? If he can't handle the pressure of being pushed by his backup then he's not the guy. We hope to some day play in some games again that actually matter. There's gonna be pressure when those games happen.

These two things are likely directly correlated. If he doesn't play hero ball (and we don't leave three TDs on the field), the Jets get blown out.

I had no issues with moving on from Gano. He sucked on clutch kicks. When it mattered most, he was least reliable. Sure, he's been kicking like a champ with the Giants. They suck. There are no clutch kicks on a sucky team. He's in the perfect situation to shine. Ability was never his issue. He was just a choke artist. -
It was literally just due to them both being baby faced blonde haired guys

I agree he looks smaller than he measured but the tape and scale don't lie.
-
This is true too. If you're not gonna have a good OL, you better have a good checkdown/dump off option. We have the best one in the league.
-
We'll see. It's possible. He comes into the NFL with very similar height/weight numbers to Tom Brady though and Brady sure didn't have an issue with longevity. The Jets are definitely gonna have to protect him better than they did last Sunday though. That's for sure. Brett Favre would've had trouble making it through a season of 17 of those.

You didn't see more arm talent? Better movement ability in the pocket? Darnold has a good arm, don't get me wrong and he can run a little bit. But Wilson has that short area shiftiness and that flick of the wrist send it 30 yards on a rope ability that is very rare, even among elite NFL QB talent.
-
If you watched that game and didn't come away thinking that Wilson was definitely the more talented QB but in a far worse overall team situation, then I don't know what to tell ya. I thought Darnold played decently well. He didn't panic. That was the big thing. He missed some easy passes that would've resulted in TDs but that's something that can be worked on. But those elite traits Wilson showed at the college level? Yeah, they translated. He basically looks like a more slippery in the pocket bigger armed Joe Burrow. Put Wilson on the Panthers and Darnold on the Jets and that scoreboard is very lopsided.

Oh, it's not even close. Anyone who would even attempt to argue otherwise just doesn't know. -
Good for him. He looked good out there. I hope he keeps it up.

Don't fug with wrestlers. Especially don't fug with wrestlers from the corn belt states.

Completely illogical is thinking that a super analytical businessman who sees his net worth as keeping score in life isn't looking for every dollar he can possibly get. Hence laying off low paid workers during a fuging pandemic. -
When you make roster decisions based on "versatility" but the player himself is telling you he feels much more comfortable on the left side then proceeds to play like trash on the right side.. yeah, not a good look.

It's not a rivalry because it's no contest. The "rivalry" attitude comes almost entirely from the SC side of the border. It's like the UNC/NCSU rivalry. Of course UNC fans want to beat state, but to state it's their everything. If they beat UNC it was a successful season. -

I don't think he has any desire to actually relocate the team but if that's the threat he has to make to fleece Charlotte out of the money for a new stadium he'll absolutely play that card. -

Well, I mean you can't exactly put meth production and pill pushing on the official list of economic contributors. -

He fired Hurney and Rivera. Other than that... yeah, the jury is definitely out. -

Rural for sure but I wouldn't say economically agrarian. I would probably just leave it at plain old economically depressed, like most of the rest of southern Appalachia. -

Boone is a football town though due to App State. Kinda like how the Hornets rode the coattails of tobacco road basketball in NC. Boone is a lot different than most of WNC. -
No bullshit, Jameis is a dangerous QB. It's just that no one knows which Jameis is gonna show up. The one that's dangerous for the opponent or the one that's dangerous for his own team. But trust and believe, one way or the other a dangerous QB is taking the field.
