  1. Gotta agree. Gross is kinda in that Minter area where he was very good but honestly the main reason that he's so fondly remembered is simply because of how terrible we've been historically at his position.
  2. How many of them were league MVPs? Cam is the most important player in franchise history. That reality chapping your ass doesn't make it any less true.
  3. Gonna be awkward when we retire #1 after Cam retires from the NFL.
  4. Is that what I said? No, the team is giving him the best possible chance to succeed. That's all you can do. I just hope that if he fails, we move on quickly just like we did when Teddy failed.
  5. Because the vast majority of top pick bust reclamation projects do. The successes are rare.
  6. They're not building him up right now. They did that right after the trade. Now they're starting to backpedal and temper expectations. Honestly, from a PR perspective they're handling this well. I imagine they're handling it similarly internally. This should give Darnold his best chance to succeed. Honestly, I still think this whole effort will be a failure but we've cast our lot. Gotta focus on giving it the best chance to succeed that we can. At the end of the day, if Darnold can't flush the past out of his system he'll be flushed out of the NFL soon and he knows it. That's plenty of pressure by itself. The team doesn't need to pile anymore than that in him.
  7. Yeah, I'm not gonna crucify the kid if he isn't Darelle Revis as a rookie, even if Darnold is flailing and Fields is balling. Make no mistake about it, I think we fuged up. But I'm not gonna hold that against the kid.
  8. You don't draft a guy in the top 10 to be average or even good. You're expecting All-Pro level play out of top 10 picks.
  9. There was a certain DL out of Mississippi State who we should all recall...
  10. There had to be something. Hopefully he works out. Robby Anderson was a self admitted complete knucklehead and he figured it out. Wouldn't surprise me if Rhule already has Robby in his ear.
  11. I don't own the jersey of a single current Panther, but if this happens I'll buy a Sam Darnold jersey and you can hold me to that one.
  12. Joe, how many times and from what height were you dropped on your head as a child?
  13. I expect us to bring in a vet at FS to compete. Which vet? I have no clue. But I'll be surprised if we don't bring in someone.
  14. That guy is such a disappointment. I was really happy when we drafted him. I thought he had the potential to be the best TE in that draft class. Then he showed promising potential as a rookie. It was all downhill from there. He's gotten worse every year since then. I don't know what the issue there is, but it's disappointing.
  15. Oh, it's definitely gonna be alright. We're Panthers fans. Not like we can't take sucking. LOL! Any fairweather fans are long gone at this point.
  16. Yeah, that's uh... that's not what I've been arguing.
  17. You definitely haven't seen Sam Darnold play, I take it?
  18. As much as I did NOT want Mac Jones if that was our guy I could've learned to live with that too. It's just that the bust rehab efforts have an abysmal track record. People want to hang their hopes on the Ryan Tannehills while overlooking the reality that Tannehill was FAR better in Miami than Darnold has ever shown any hope to be. Darnold would have to improve dramatically to get to Miami Tannehill levels.
  19. I have some hope. More than I had with Teddy. But it's definitely a long shot. I think Darnold has the physical talent and I never thought Teddy did. I just don't know that Darnold has it between the ears and I never thought he did. I called Darnold as a bust in the pre-draft process that year. Just never bought into him. Still don't. Hopefully he proves me wrong but if he doesn't I hope we cut bait on him as quickly as we did with Teddy I'm just not sure that'll happen without the GM change that went along with that last decision.
  20. It would no doubt assist on marketing efforts, but Tepper gas been vocal that the three key elements to a consistent winner are coach, GM, and QB. He saw the opportunity to get the QB. Rhule and Fitterer need to be right on this one. Of they aren't and they're losing their job security could go south in a hurry
  21. The rest of the list includes the long, long list of QBs who never worked out.
