Prime Cam Newton vs Current Josh Allen
LinvilleGorge replied to Panther8989's topic in Carolina Panthers
Just say you don't like Cam. It's fine. But don't quote the stats then start moving the goal posts to dismiss the ones that don't fit the narrative. -

Cam wasn't on Mahomes' or Mannings' level as a pure passer. That's just not accurate. But he was on Allen's. I would've loved to have seen Cam in his prime with a good OC. All the praise of Shula was because Cam was carrying his bum ass. -
Prime Cam Newton vs Current Josh Allen

Stats are stats but watch the games and notice how we constantly asked Cam to make the toughest throws in football. Shula's offense was all about slow developing downfield routes and our receivers largely couldn't separate which means a lot of downfield passes to covered receivers - i.e. the toughest throws in football. When Norv came along with more of the dink and dunk routes that make up the majority of modern NFL passing game all of a sudden Cam was in the high 60s just like Norv said he would be. -

Bingo. Don't let defending Cam keep you from appreciating other players. -

I feel like this is one of the traps that great players fall into. In their mind the game is all mental. It's all about how hard you work and study and having the right attitude. That's because for them it was. Because they already had the elite talent. But that's the thing, if you don't have the talent all that other stuff just flat out doesn't matter.

I want good players. Every team has highly motivated, incredibly hard working, studious, great guys they cut every training camp because they just aren't good enough. Yeah, don't draft talented lazy idiots, but all the coach platitude hard work in the world doesn't matter if you don't have the talent.

The Bills have to seriously shake something up unless they want to keep being the bridesmaids of the AFC. The Chiefs just have their number and are DEEP inside their heads at this point. It really felt like they played scared tonight. The offensive play calling was very conservative, especially in 1st and 2nd down.

Pretty wild to see folks dunking on Josh Allen when he threw a catchable ball past the sticks on an absolute jailbreak of a blitz where his OL looked like they'd been blindfolded and had their hands tied behind their backs.
-
Not about. Not even close. By FAR the worst possible outcome.
-
Whoever #43 is he'd be walking home. How do you not even lay a hand on a guy who isn't even a burner????
-
They really do have an unreal history of choking. I mean, four consecutive SB losses? OOF. Wow. I didn't realize how close they came to converting that 4th down. Ouch.
-
No one can handle that. The OL literally didn't touch anyone. LOL
-
Wow. 4th and 5 and your OL just doesn't lay a hand aon anybody. LOL
-
Josh, tuck that ball bro. Don't be carrying that loaf of bread ten yards down the field
-
What a terrible penalty. You're right there on the sideline. You literally just have to push him OB.
-
I'm pretty sure it is. When the chips are down the right flag will fly if it needs to.
-
Whew. Bad time for KC to completely blow a coverage though. That effort from Coleman on 3rd down was dog poo. You gotta fight through that DB and force the refs to make the call or swallow their whistle. He just gave up on the ball when he saw the DB had position on him.

That Tar Heel about had his second TD of the night. The Bills need to throw the fuging QB sneak from under center out of the playbook here.
-
I don't know why they don't put Allen in the shotgun like we did with Cam. Just trust your stud to see the play and hit the hole of his choice going downhill. Feels like they've let Philly's success running that play make them go away from what they should do best.

It's the Brady/Belichick Pats all over again. The NFL doesn't even try to hide it. And us suckers just keep showing up to watch anyway so I guess jokes on us.
-
I honestly think that's exactly what that spectacle was about.
-
I hate the Eagles so I really don't love to see it.
-
This was ugly. No other way to put it.

Welp, c'mon Buffalo or I'm rooting for KC in two weeks.
