Here comes Jason Garrett at OC and Jimmy G at QB and a repeat of the last two years. I just hope we limit the amount of future assets we let Rhule and Fitterer trade away desperately trying to save their jobs. Tepper has ran this ship straight into the ground hit bedrock and now he's breaking out the heavy equipment and explosives to keep digging. We are so completely fuged.

Report: Harbaugh might be tempted to go back to NFL
LinvilleGorge replied to SuperBowlBound's topic in Carolina Panthers
https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/01/08/jim-harbaugh-reportedly-told-recruit-hell-entertain-nfl-opportunities/ A recruit's father is saying Harbaugh told his kid that he'll entertain NFL opportunities. I respect this. I respect honesty. These kids are making life altering decisions here. Tell them the truth. That's a helluva improvement over Fatt Rhule's lying ass and what he told kids who were already playing for him at Temple and Baylor all the while he was packing his bags at home and waiting on his agent to finalize the details of his new contract elsewhere. -
I'm inclined to agree about Bienemy and Leftwich. Andy Reid's OC is just a title. Andy Reid is the OC. His OC in title is just a long-term assistant he really respects and wants to reward. Tom Brady is basically the Bucs' OC. He's running Arians' system on the field. It's basically the same as Peyton Manning late in his career.

Yep. He was a longtime player. He was a longtime NFL assistant coach. The man understands NFL football and how to deal with NFL players and NFL organizations. Matt Rhule is trying to replicate a mid-major college environment in the NFL with predictable end results.
-
Legit NFL HC candidates aren't dumb. I don't think any would blame us for moving on from Rhule. It's all in how it's framed. Tepper can't come out and bash Rhule for being an incompetent schmuck. He's gotta own it. Say that he still thinks Matt Rhule has the ability to be a great coach, but as an inexperienced owner still learning the ropes he set him up to fail by giving him too much too soon and that allowed Rhule to dig himself a hole that he doesn't believe he's equipped to overcome at this time. We wish him well and we expect well out of him down the road, but we need to go a different direction at this time.

I have no idea if it's true that Luke "hates" Rhule but it wouldn't surprise me at all. He sure was quick to bail on that scouting gig. Luke strikes me as someone who is very matter of fact with a pretty low tolerance for bullshit. Fatt Rhule is 100% bullshit.
-
All this talk about Rhule being a smooth salesman... why does he constantly come off sounding like a bumbling idiot then? I think we just have to accept that he sold a confirmed idiot GM in Marty Hurney and a neophyte NFL owner with minimal football experience on bullshit high school football platitudes and talk of culture and they were too dumb to see through the smoke and mirrors to understand there was no substance behind it. Selling fools doesn't make you a great salesman.

This. Folks making millions of dollars generally aren't jeopardizing that by criticizing their employer. I don't blame them, but it is what it is.

Audio: Joe Person interview (Fox Sports Upstate)
LinvilleGorge replied to ellis's topic in Carolina Panthers
I really feel like what caused Teddy to be on such thin ice was throwing the staff under the bus on that play where he missed DJ wide open in the endzone saying they got the play call in late so that he couldn't check to a run. I really feel like what has caused Darnold to be on such thin ice is because holy poo, he's TERRIBLE. -

It just feels like everyone except David Tepper has figured out that Matt Rhule is simply not an NFL coach. -

No decent candidates will take the job. Garrett is still a "name" and has a lot of NFL experience despite being trash. No decent vet QBs with any sway to chart their own course will come here. We'll be stuck shopping in the bargain bin at QB again and Rhule won't go into a prove it year relying on a rookie, so it'll be a third or fourth tier vet QB again. Garrett and Jimmy G are my predictions and yes, that's fuging trash. 5-6 win ceiling... again. -

Remember him talking about having an ex-HC on the staff? Prepare yourself. Welcoming the new OC of YOUR Carolina Panthers... JA-SON GAAARRRREEETTTT!!! Jason Garrett at OC and Jimmy G at QB. It's coming. -

Maybe that's the wakeup call Tepper needs - guys like Watson and Wilson just straight up telling him "Man, I ain't coming there to play for that bullshit ass mid-major college coach and his HS offense behind no OL. HARD PASS." -

Tepper really thinks Rhule is the right guy, they just need to find the right QB. Nevermind that Rhule and his staff have been quickly figured out over the course of a few games in both of his seasons. Both years we played our best football early and the more tape opponents got to study the worse we looked. That's be wise we don't have NFL level coaching. -

I can see it now. Rhule's final parting gift. We trade three 1sts and CMC for Deshaun Watson who trashes his knee again playing behind another trash Rhule OL leaving us absolutely gutted of draft capital for years to come and damaged goods at QB. -
Panthers taking offers for Cmac in the off-season
LinvilleGorge replied to Leotiger's topic in Carolina Panthers
When has this actually happened? Historically, overpaying our own guys to keep them well past their prime has been a far bigger issue. -
If we don't resign Jackson and Reddick....
LinvilleGorge replied to musicman's topic in Carolina Panthers
With the investments we've made at CB, I'm inclined to let D-Jax walk and take the comp pick. Reddick depends on scheme IMO. Either rub a straight up 3-4 or let him walk and take the comp pick. In 4-3 base, he and Reddick are redundant and light on the pants against the run. They're nightmare bookends as 3-4 OLBs though. -
Steve Smith weighs in on Panthers situation
LinvilleGorge replied to Cary Kollins's topic in Carolina Panthers
Coordinate what? He was an OC for Temple for 4 years prior to his 1 year of OL coaching for the Giants. Temple's offense was ranked 82, 41, 79, and 40 during those four season. Amazing work. -
I mean, it's possible. But yes, the first step is poo canning Fatt Rhule and company. That's something that virtually everyone can agree on.
-
At best we're a QB and a couple of OL away. Unfortunately, that's the best case scenario and franchise QB is by far the hardest roster hole to fill.
-
It's possible but it's definitely not very likely. There's not a great track record of injury prone players miraculously regaining their durability.
