Panthers will bring Tetairoa in for a visit
LinvilleGorge replied to Captain Morgan's topic in Carolina Panthers
That's Shemar Stewart for me. Anybody with those athleticism measurables and those practically non-existent stats is terrifying. -
Quarterback inconsistency has been the problem
LinvilleGorge replied to panthers55's topic in Carolina Panthers
It just seemed very kneejerk. We went with a guy with no NFL experience and that flopped so we went with a guy with tons of NFL experience next. We went with a guy with all the physical tools in Darnold before and that flopped so they go with the football savant Bryce next. -
Quarterback inconsistency has been the problem

It always seemed to me that he basically checked out when we drafted Bryce. I don't know if he was told or led to believe he'd have more influence on the QB position or if he just thought that he'd get in there and wow them with his football knowledge and end up getting his way but once it became clear that it was gonna be Bryce it just seemed like the air went out of his sails. And it makes sense. Everyone who knew about his history with the QB position had been saying that he was all about prototypical stature and arm strength. Nothing about Bryce fit his QB M.O. I just don't know whose fault the whole situation was. Was it the Panthers for misleading Reich or Reich expecting to coerce more influence? Because you can't convince me that the topic didn't come up through the interview process. As soon as Bryce was the guy it always felt destined to be square peg/round hole. -
"our schedule is ridiculously easy" Bold words coming from a fan of a team that might not be favored in any game. LOL

Yeah, parting ways with Thomas and Sanders is classic roster addition by subtraction. They can be replaced for a lot less cap space with waiver wire FAs or day three draft picks.
-
No. Please no. I like Carter a LOT but we aren't just one piece away. We need a talent infusion not just one key piece. We have just about dug ourselves out of the draft pick capital hole the Bryce trade created. Let's not create a new one. If I knew he was Von Miller 2.0 then sure. But no one KNOWS that and no one would accept that trade offer if they thought Von Miller 2.0 was there available to be drafted.

NFL.com's Chad Reuter's 4-round mock draft
LinvilleGorge replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Works for me. -
This guy's evaluation is pretty much based entirely on whether you're comfortable with who he is off the field.
-
Horn is very talent f but has missed damn near half the games of his career. Chuba proved to be a great pick. Tremble is an okay pick as a mediocre backup for a 3rd round pick. Kinda feels like that should be the bare minimum acceptable standard for a "successful" 3rd rounder. Christensen was another solid pick. This draft wasn't terrible. The problem is that it's our best draft in years when for a well ran organization it would be an average at best draft.
-
Yeah, and there have been a lot of cases where guys who check every measurable box not working out too. There's no science or foolproof methods to this draft stuff. The consistently good teams figure it out and draft more good players than busts. We suck in large part because we've been drafting terribly for years and we've been drafting terribly ever since we got obsessed with RAS.
-
If you don't want to compromise with an edge rusher you better be drafting top 3. You don't find Julius Peppers ideal prototypes at #8. It's why I lamented winning those games at the end of the year. Now we pay the cost.

When I watch Walker, I see a guy flying all over the field making a significant impact. That's what I want out of a top 10 pick.
-
Miller was a little taller and a little longer but people make way too much about an inch or two on these measurements. Parsons is a couple inches taller but his arms are actually shorter than Walker's. Walker:
-
Yeah, I'm not trying to say he's a slam dunk and I'm not sure if he's who is pick but of all the guys that there's smoke about us liking, he's definitely the one I'd pick out of that group.
-
That's exactly why the Cardinals squandered the early years of Haason Reddick's career after drafting him #13 overall. He didn't measure as an EDGE so they tried to make him an off the ball LB and he was just okay until they finally just said, ya know what... why don't we just let this guy get after the QB? Then he started playing like a guy who would've been drafted #13 overall.
-
I like Walker. Not sure if he'll ultimately be an edge or off the ball LB who is a great blitzer but either way I think he's a player. Draft him to play EDGE with the backup plan of putting him off the ball.

Just saw the clip of Maryland's buzzer beater. Let's just say that they're traveling to the Sweet 16. LOL

I expected this to be a leaked sex tape. LOL

The Athletic - Post-Combine Consensus Big Board - 3/17

Works for me. If that workout warrior Stewart went #9 in that scenario that would be a HUGE sigh of relief. -
Nick Scott weighing contract offer to return to Carolina
LinvilleGorge replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
All I seen reported is a "mystery team" AKA probably his agent trying to convince the Panthers' front office that there's TOTALLY another team trying to sign his client. -
Something like this would be awesome Walker listed as a LB but I'd be drafting him as an EDGE with the backup plan of making him a LB of it didn't work out at EDGE. I wanted a RB in there somewhere late but it just never made sense when I was up. Skattebo went #109 or I would've taken him at #111 and then taken West at #115 instead of Mondon Jr.

Surely veteran minimum, right? This question usually precedes news that we've signed some bum for like 4 or 5 million per year. -
The ACC as a whole was just dreadful this year. No way to sugarcoat it. Tourney confirmed it. If duke comes up short they can honestly fairly blame it on the conference schedule being so soft that they went the majority of the season virtually untested.
