That would be odd considering how much Snow talked about him at safety and how that would be the best for him and his career long-term.

Yeah, based on what the Niners traded to get one of those guys and what we traded to get Darnold... I think that hypothesis has already been disproven.

I absolutely don't think QB is off the board at #8, I just think it's unlikely anyone we value at that spot at QB will be there hence the Darnold trade.

How many undersized pass rushers does one team need? If the deal is cheap enough it makes sense for us to give him a look, but surely he has to realize there's probably a better roster opportunity for him out there.

I was off big time on the square footage. It turned out to be 3000. Closed today. Not looking forward to the move over the next few days but definitely looking forward to finally being settled down again. Selling a house and moving across the country during the peak of a pandemic and lockdowns then buying a house during an absolute real estate feeding frenzy... yeah, if you have the opportunity to pass on that, that'd be my advice. LOL!

Bengals sign thaddeus Moss does this effect pitts?

The Bengals have two young OTs who are pretty promising. They're probably going IOL pretty early and possibly pretty often though. -

Signing a recent UDFA off the scrap heap has zero implications of what you are doing with the #5 overall pick. With that said, go ahead and pencil in Ja'Marr Chase. -

Yep, time will tell. We very well may be kicking ourselves in a couple of years for not doing it. That's very possible. -

It's a calculated decision. We obviously just don't think he's worth it. I gotta trust that evaluation. I mean, we knew as soon as it happened that we no longer controlled our QB destiny as soon as we won that WFT game. If we were sitting at #3 instead of #8, I think there's likely zero chance we trade for Darnold and we'd be zeroed in on building around either Fields or Lance. -
We went the safe JAG QB route last year. That's the worst option. That's purgatory. We're going with the more talented JAG option this year with higher bust potential. That's better. Either he works out or he fills his Clausen role and hopefully delivers our next MVP QB. Not sure who that could be...

No reason to officially do it before the deadline. Especially before seeing how the draft shakes out.

I honestly don't have a problem with us not trading up to #3. I like Fields a lot. I'm not sure I like Fields enough to have outbid the Niners though. They went ALL in. -

And yet Goff is still much better than the QBs we've spent significant resources rolling the dice on the past two off-seasons. We're shopping in the dumpster out back of Dollar General, but paying Target prices to harken back to Gettleman euphemisms. -

IMO, the Darnold trade was all about reading the tea leaves and seeing that #8 was likely too low to land a QB we like and the trade market to get in position to do so was too rich for our taste. I definitely don't think it takes us out of play on one of those QBs if they happen to be there at #8. We're probably setting ourselves up to try the same approach the Seahawks did. They signed Matt Flynn in free agency after he showed out in GB in a couple of games then hedged that bet by drafting Russell Wilson in the 3rd. The rest is history. Wilson came in and won the job from day one and Matt Flynn pretty much disappeared as a footnote in NFL history. If things don't work out at #8, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see us draft a guy like Kellen Mond or Davis Mills later in the draft. -
Make note of the last line in the post you quoted.

It wasn't removed, it was just locked because it was misleading. You posted a thread saying Moss was coming to Carolina. You linked a purely opinion piece that Carolina should look at signing Moss. Long-time posters have gotten temporary bans for this stuff.

Wow. This dude is about to go into his sixth NFL season. Who would've thought? Hell, good for him.

This. I wouldn't let Darnold being here keep me from drafting one of those guys but I think that trade was made in large part because we don't expect those guys to be there. If it happens, just smile and make the pick anyway. Darnold being here means the rookie wouldn't have to be pressed into an immediate starting role if he isn't ready and we figure out what to do with Darnold after the season.

If all 3 still available at #8, who do you take?

Sewell all day long. Positional value matters.
