Week 4 Other Games
LinvilleGorge replied to Move the Panthers to Raleigh's topic in Carolina Panthers
Good lord what a catch by Pickens -
I honestly don't think these remaining Bryce defenders are watching other NFL games. They can't be. It's just so blatantly obvious that Bryce doesn't have the tools. I get it when you're watching your team play it's hard to objectively watch the other team so just turn on a game where you have no rooting interest and watch. Even if it's a backup playing. You'll see flashes of talent that Bryce simply doesn't have.

Dayum!!! That GB punt returner might be in the protocol. He got JACKED UP. Don't know how he hung onto that ball. -

Yeah, I think that Parsons trade jumped them from good to legit contender -

It's still the first quarter and only 7-0 but it feels like GB is gonna kick the Cowboys' ass. -
Basically they were super impressed with what Canales was able to do with Baker because they were convinced that Baker was trash based on our experience with him, meanwhile Baker is still being Baker and Bryce is still being Bryce.

Drake Maye clears up any confusion on the celebration

Yeah, that's how long we've been irrelevant. Starting NFL QBs were kids last we were relevant. Le sigh... -

Probably. Don't know if they still are but I know his family had PSLs when he was growing up. -

Eh, we're too far away from the draft to start watching draft position. That's about the only thing we're playing for, per usual. We're Panthers fans. It just wouldn't feel right not already looking at the mock draft simulators before the leaves change. LOL -

Geno Smith has turned into an absolute turnover machine. Dude has 7 picks in four games. Raiders drop to 1-3. They've lost every game that Geno has thrown a pick. -

They convert on 3rd to seal it but that's a mistake a veteran QB just cannot make in that situation. -

Trevor Lawrence is a complete moron. Niners are out of timeouts and he runs out of bounds to give them life. -

Purdy's turnover fest has probably sunk the Niners today. They're still gonna be 3-1 but I think they're more pretender than contender. -

The Ravens look cooked. Lost that heart breaker in Buffalo week one where they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, lost another winnable game against the Lions, and now they're getting blasted by the Chiefs in KC and both Lamar and Henry have gotten hurt which is honestly even more concerning than the soon to be 1-3 record considering their 3 losses. They had a brutal starting slate and it's gone as poorly as possible for them. They've got a huge hole to dig themselves out of and major question marks about their two best players. -
Honestly, the NFL does a stellar job of socializing the wealth with their revenue sharing agreement. Creating a winner is more about bragging rights than anything else. You're going to make plenty of money and your investment is going to grow every year even if you're the doormat of the league. And when you need to invest in infrastructure? Hold your host city hostage and make them pay for it! What a sweet deal!

This is the key. Regardless of who is out there at WR teams just don't respect Bryce's ability to stretch their D vertically. I mean, we ran a TE screen from midfield on a hail Mary opportunity because we knew he probably couldn't get the ball to the endzone and we ran numerous handoffs on 3rd and 10-15 because honestly Chuba possibly breaking a run is a better chance than Bryce completing a 10+ yard pass.

You'd think otherwise if you were trying to keep your job. Now maybe Canales has assurance he's safe. I'd find that hard to believe but maybe. I don't know how he'll avoid losing the locker room though if he keeps trotting out this guy who completely hamstrings our offense.
-
Bryce could probably be serviceable with an entire slate of All-Pros around him and an offensive mind like Andy Reid running the show but you don't draft QBs #1 overall who have to be carried and you certainly don't trade a king's ransom for them because when you do that you're counting on that guy helping to carry you through some of the roster holes that move is inevitably going to create. That's what nine of these people acknowledge. Yeah, our roster isn't great but a big part of that is all the roster capital we had to give up to trade up to draft this guy.

I just miss having hope. Under Richardson we always longed for consistency and lamented how we could never put together winning seasons but we were good often enough to keep things interesting and give reason for hope. With Tepper the only entertainment is seeing what new ways we can fug up a football organization. It truly feels hopeless.

I honestly think it was bigger than just Penix. I think that whole team and staff came into that game thinking they couldn't lose and they could use it as an opportunity to work on some different things and basically just do whatever they wanted and still win. Yeah, we suck but you can't ever get too cocky in the NFL and I think they came into that game really cocky.
-
It's just unbelievable to me that there are fans who are still willingly deluding themselves like this.

Probably accurate. They probably need Tepper's permission for anything when it comes to Bryce.

Official Week 4: Panthers at Patriots Gameday Thread
LinvilleGorge replied to Captain Morgan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah, the Bryce experiment has to end. We should've upgraded the backup QB spot but at this point it is what it is. Let Dalton start and then you have a few games to figure out if you need to try to do something at the trade deadline. The Bryce question is answered. Now we need to answer the Canales question.
