Clemson just isn't great this year. They're a mid-teens type team. UNC looked way better vs. ND and that's back when we had middle school level defense. We have a legit HS defense now.

UGA is the best team in the country right now. I'd say OSU is probably the 2nd best despite looking pedestrian today against an awful team in awful weather. The 3rd and 4th teams? Sure looks like controversy right now IMO.

If Bama hangs on tonight with Clemson struggling and OSU looking underwhelming against an awful Northwestern team you're going to see the "SEC! SEC! SEC!" folks start lobbying for three teams in the playoffs. Not even joking. Hell, they really think the playoffs should be the four top SEC teams every year.

Hooker is a good college QB. I think he's a late round draft pick who projects as a backup in the NFL.

I have to disagree with you there. Trevor was a lot better than Watson. There were games where Watson just looked flat out awful. I was honestly surprised he was a 1st round pick and he has significantly out performed my expectations on the NFL.

UNC's only hope is to face an undefeated Clemson team. The problem with that is that the ACC isn't gonna let an undefeated Clemson team lose the ACC CG if they can do anything to prevent it. We'd have to hammer them. If it's competitive you'll see manufactured calls to make sure the ACC has a team in the playoffs. Expanded playoffs are coming. I just don't know why it wasn't instituted immediately. Why wait?

The D IS improving. Going from utterly hapless to run of the mill not very good is significant improvement. Now I'm hoping we can go from not very good to decent. Our second half improvements gives me some hope. We've quietly been a pretty damn good second half defense in recent weeks. Our trash first half defense just makes it hard to realize.

It's baffling. He didn't hesitate to yank a pretty good college QB for Trevor Lawrence. DJ is better than Kelly and this other kid may not be Trevor Lawrence but the other kid looks like a better QB than DJ and that's all that really matters.

I'm expecting the QB change for Clemson again in the 2nd half. Not sure why it didn't stick last time. DJ just isn't that guy. Put him on a borderline top 25 team and he's a JAG.

A bit? Our staff needs to wake up and realize we need to be trying to score every time we touch the ball no matter what. Mack Brown's post-game interview gave me some hope that might be happening. They can't think they can take their foot off the gas and go conservative and lean on the D. That's just not an option. My hopes hang on the fact that I honestly haven't seen any dominant teams this year. Not sure there's a team in the field that would be a threat to win it all in a normal season. Just seems like a down year in terms of teams. Still some great draft prospects, I just don't see any dominant teams.

It's why I half ass hope for an ND upset tonight. It likely means UNC has no hopes of the playoffs but if might mean we have a shot at decently fair officiating in an ACC CG.

The problem is that the ACC would outright cheat for an undefeated Clemson team in the ACC CG. The financial incentives for getting a team in the playoffs is HUGE. Remember the phantom offsides call? Yeah...

Watching these supposed top QBs in this draft makes me want to put our 1st round pick on the block and go all in on Drake Maye in '24 with ludicrous draft capital in our back pocket.

CMC had size concerns entering the draft but 5-6, 172 is a whole different level of size concerns

As a Heels fan I'm torn about this upcoming Clemson/ND game. On the one hand, if we're to have any shot at all of the playoffs we need Clemson to win. On the other hand, if Clemson has any shot of the playoffs at all then we have no shot in the ACC Championship Game because the ACC will outright openly cheat for Clemson if they have to because the financial incentive for having a playoff team is HUGE and that's why refs should be employed by the NCAA and not the individual conferences.
