Popcorn Ready? Gabriel to wear #2 in Cleveland?
MHS831 replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
How is this Panther related, you ask? It is a bit like the Clausen Cam Newton issue over the same number. Clausen was in a tough situation, I get it, but to say, "No, I am wearing #2.." and Cam says, "OK, I will wear #1 then." Basically, I am the #1 QB and you are the backup--these QBs have huge egos. FWIW, Gabriel wore #8 at Oregon. At the moment, there is no #8 in Cleveland. This is a shot across the bow. -
Not sure what Dillon is doing, but the chess game seems to be on. Does this suggest that Sanders has not foregone his sense of entitlement? That will make some of you mad. If I played for a team called the Browns and their jersey was brown, I sure as hell would not want to wear number two on it. That would confirm what my wife has been calling me since our honeymoon. And heeeeere we go!!

Same page--I think I am looking at the long term plan.

I am pretty excited about several of our undrafted free agents-- Mike Reid (CB from SDSU), Bam Martin-Scott (LB So Carolina), Jared Harrison-Hunt (DE SMU--6.5 sacks, 47 tackles, ran sub 4.9 40--that is an Evero pass rushing DE), Issac Gilford (FS Nebraska) 73 tackles at 6'1" 205; Ryan Fitzgerald (K FSU) who should win the job; Luke Kandra (G-Cincinnati) and Michael Tarquin, (OT, Oklahoma)--they (to me) have shots at making the roster and I would not be surprised to see several on the PS.

He sounds like a RG, LG, and then C--in that order. but neither of our current centers were centers in college (I don't think). I think of this way---"if he practices center for a year on the PS..."

Here is a question to ask if you are looking for ways to muddy the waters even further: Does the Homewrecker Law apply to common law wives? In NC, common law marriages were abolished in 1989, but in South Carolina, they are still recognized, but they have no alienation of affection laws. However, one state--Utah, recognizes common law wives and alienation of affection. That would be something--you are sued for having sex with a woman who has never been officially married. I imagine that infidelity would nullify the common law marriage, but if the party who was faithful was not aware of the infidelity.... OK, back to sports.

She was. When I read his post, I was picturing in my head Sally Fields in Forest Gump--not to make any other connections, I just pictured a wise woman with unconditional love for her son. I have been saying it for years--Smith is a POS as a human being. A turd. A self-absorbed, narcissitic, Napoleonic, punk. He has good qualities, but they are not what defines him.

If you think about it, we were not meeting the need for a #1 WR any other way with any other WR. We dabbled in free agency and watched #2 WRs like Higgins get monster deals. In this draft, only TMac had the skills and traits of a #1. Plenty of #2s and slots--but I am not sure there was a #1 ready to play in the draft--that explains why three NFL teams that we know of were trying to move up to get him--and why the Jalon Walker smokescreen (if intentional) is what you must do. Teams who wanted TMac were trying to move up. Morgan refused to trade back as he clearly advertised before the draft--He did not want the others to know he was after any single player, but he was.

Round 1 - Panthers Select Tetairoa McMillan at Pick 8
MHS831 replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
And he says what he wants to say without coming off looking like a jerk. You can't really judge sincerity when there is a mic in your face. If he says it, we should respect it. Part of this is about forcing your culture on another's culture. For example, a kid being bullied may try to smile and laugh it off in public, but inside it bothers him. -

I mean, people are starting to copy his running style. That is a compliment in my book. -
When asked about Ransom Morgan was clear to describe his role and a strong safety but was quick to add that he can play deep as well. Said the same thing about Moerhig. I think we are going to start both and their roles will be interchangeable. I think either could play up and either could stay back. I think both could play up and both could play deep. Think of this--if the C identifies the mike LB, the QB has to be aware of the free safety. What if they switch?

PFF raves about our draft. The best class in the whole draft?
MHS831 replied to Panthers Rhule's topic in Carolina Panthers
We got a #2 WR (I think he comes around), Brooks was damaged goods at a discount but I did not like the pick--I hate drafting RBs, but the second injury was not expected, we got a pretty decent LB, a pass-catching TE with upside, and a Nickel CB. I did not want XL or Brooks and still am critical of the picks. I think we were smarter this year--our first three picks could have gone in round 1 in a different year. Tex AM did Scourton no favors but he is 20---Princely might become the better player. -

Hold up--do we have depth at Long Snapper???? Well, do we????? -
The offense is betting on Moton's knee holding up and the defense is hoping their $100m CB can play more than half the games. He has missed 29 games.

For a LB that is a long career. They take a beating. Shoulders and head. My favorite LB of All Time--Junior Seau--had a 20-year career--the average career for a STARTING MLB is 5.6 years. I really think Shaq is done, but if he can play, it does not mean that he should. Think about Morgan's career--7 seasons. Luke's career--8 seasons. Beason played only 93 games over 10 years--only 5 seasons where he played 15 games or more. The other 5 seasons? No more than 5 games per. So basically, the average starting MLB plays 90 games in his career. Shaq has played 123 games and was pretty injury free until the last 2 seasons (6 games total).
-
Sure but the frame was frail. I think he got up to 235 and then back to 228ish.
-
I met Shaq at an OTA---if you recall, he was absent until the end due to Washington being on the quarter system. He was very nice--soft spoken--but I was thinking "Linebacker?" As an OLB in a 4-3, he was small. I did not see 6'0"--I saw 5'10-5'11 tops and maybe 220. When we converted to a 3-4, that moved him inside and, in my opinion, shortened his career. He just does not have the frame for ILB duties. If you watch enough film, you will see that Shaq often was late getting to the hole and tackled from the side a lot. Morgan and Luke were in the hole square with the LOS and talking on blocks and RBs head on. Had Shaq met pulling guards and fullbacks in the hole like that, he would not have lasted 4 years. He had a very frail frame.

He said (about Tepper), "We are getting a new indoor practice facility outside." -
I’m ready to fall in love with the Carolina Panthers again
MHS831 replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I have always loved the panthers in a platonic way--After their lawyer sent me a cease and desist letter and explained the meaning of "keep pounding." -
I looked at this from a 21-year old perspective and I was a dumbass college student who would have applauded it and laughed. Reason? I was not an empathetic person and would gladly humiliate someone for a laugh--I cringe now when I think of it. However, I would not have come close to having the balls it took to do something like this. Your father's job? targeting a person who is in an emotional free fall? Forget community service-therapy is needed because there are some very disturbing issues here. For example, nearly every serial killer was abusive to animals as children. Punishment is not effective at modifying behavior and attitude. I would make his apology public and personal--I would have flown him to Shedeur Sanders and met with him if he'd accept. Then I would let a shrink peek into his brain to see why he not only thought of doing this, he did it. Say what you want about Sanders--if you consider the context of his world--whether it was authentic or fabricated or not--Sanders is another 21-23 year old kid, was experiencing emotional pain and rejection like he had never experienced before. Man, this was cold-hearted.

They should have fined the Falcons 28 dollars, and the DC 3 bucks.
