I was interested-apparently Buffalo was "revamping" the defense and signing big money Von Miller--so if he has the desire, a 1 year contract with Star would be a good signing.

I see your logic and think you are right-I think that is what the panthers are thinking. Haynes and Luvu flashed in 2021 with many fewer reps than Reddick at that position. They combined for 4.5 sacks. That is almost the same rate of return we got from Reddick. I think Fitterer said they are counting on them to step it up with more playing time---if we are going on 2021 stats, if you doubled their time on the field in the absence of Reddick, that would be 9 sacks between the two. If Burns steps up and Ioannitis can give us some inside pressure--we could be better off than in 2021--theoretically

That is the way I am leaning at the moment.

I personally think he is the sleeper here--had he had 2020 in 2021, he'd be in the top 10 discussion.

To be honest, I secretly want Willis, but understand that he could be a bust--I logically want to win now and that makes Pickett my choice---but I do not want to see 2 fumbles per game as BC is bull rushed into his blind side. Corral--I think he is quietly the most stable, has extensive experience in the RPO etc. And he took a Mississippi team and they won offensive shoot outs. That offense averaged about 30 pts a game. So I am torn and just going to sit back and watch the show.

That was my first thought--however, Corral has not been given the hype and press the other 2 QBs received, and maybe they have them rated about equal? Who knows, but you are right--hitting at QB is so difficult, you don't compromise to add a second or third rounder--only if your preferred QB is the third QB on most other boards.

Good thoughts---I would add that Atlanta has so many needs, I think they either trade back or they take a top WR at 8. They literally have nobody to throw the ball to right now. They miss the Julio Jones days--so I am guessing Wilson or London, both WRs. Full disclosure: The chances of me being right is approximately .014%. Do not use this information to bet the mortgage. Seattle is the team that I think will move up if Willis is there at #5.

Detroit: If you want a QB, hope that the Jags do not take Hutchinson #1 overall (likely). He is from Michigan, and the Lions would love him. I still think Goff is better (this year) than the draft picks, so spending the second overall pick on Willis may be exciting, but would it be smart? The Lions are key. But if I am them, I use the second first rounder (#32) and the second rounder (#34) to move back into the middle of the first round for a QB--if that is what I decided to do. The Lions are desperate for a WR, so I think they could trade away the #2 pick (Atlanta? Seattle?) and move back for Ohio State's Wilson if Hutchinson is gone and they do not like Thibideaux. The Steelers at 20 are going to be agressive for Willis--how aggressive? It would take 2 first rounders and a second to move all the way up for Willis (to get him at #5). Are they that much in love with him, or would they rather sit back and go with Trubiski and hope he falls closer to them? With Trubiski, I tend to think the Steelers will sit at #20 and not trade up unless Willis is there around pick #10 or so. The Falcons seemed to grab Mariota in a quick, face-saving move. At 8, will they get aggressive now and take the second QB when they have nobody to throw to? They have ZERO at WR, and they need an Alpha there. I just think it makes more sense drafting Wilson (WR Ohio St) or London (WR USC). They could trade BACK or DOWN to do this. The Seahawks, assuming they do not grab a veteran QB before the draft, are like Atlanta--they could see what they have in Lock during a rebuilding year, or they could go ahead and grab the QB. Personally, I think they will use some of the Russell Wilson draft capital and move up to #5 for Willis. However, they need pass rushers and OTs as well, so it will be interesting to see if they decide to go with Thibodeaux (They compare him to Khalil Mack on one Seattle site) or OTs Cross or Penning. If you ask me, Willis at #5 in a trade with the Giants is the move. Of course, if Detroit takes Willis at #2 or Houston at #3, all bets are off--it will probably mean that the Panthers cannot trade back if they want one of the top 3 QBs. Did not mean to be so long winded, but I wanted to do a bit of quick research on this viewpoint and I see it as a real possibility. To say, "Ah, there will be a QB there if we move back to #12 or so" could be faulty logic.

Could be--I feel confident that, barring the trading we know will happen, that a QB will go at Pick 6 and 9. That is IF nobody trades up.

I think Willis will be the 5th overall pick--the Giants will trade out. The longer he is on the board, the better the trade back offers will be at #6.

If we do not hit on this draft pick, then the 2022 draft (for all intents and purposes) went something like this: First Round: Project/bust Second Round: Sam Darnold Third Round: CJ Henderson Day 3: A bunch of guys with a 20% chance of being on the roster in 3 years.

Brady (7 Super Bowl wins) is the only QB with 3 or more super bowl wins to win a super bowl on 2 teams. Manning has 2 Super Bowl wins on different teams. The others with 3 or more SB wins? Montana (4), Bradshaw (4), and Aikman (3).

I am looking at 2022 for now, but I see your point. If they are going with a rookie at QB, he will need a LT and a stout Defense. We lost Jones and Reddick and Gilmore without doing a lot to replace them. I hope that we are not going to put the rookie in positions where he is coming from behind all the time because the D can't stop anyone. Looking at the stats, I understand the economic decision to go with Luvu and Haynes to replace Reddick. I think you have to assume they will produce if given more reps and Burns should be entering stardom. I also think YGM is in year 3 and he will rise (Hardy, Charles Johnson, Rucker--year three was breakout time for each). However, I do not see Ioannitis as a replacement for Jones--we need a stud to keep Roy off the field.

I tend to agree with this--but I have heard about $ for a QB, a LT, possibly Gilmore--but not DT. Gonna be a long season if we do not find a run stuffer (and I have no issues cutting Roy--sorry Rhule if you are reading this).

As it stands now, we have to go with a fifth rounder or something like that-wasn't Nixon a fifth rounder (a good pick, by the way). I think Nixon and Ionnidis are better at pass rushing, and I think Brown fancied himself as one at times (when he should have been taking on a double team and anchoring) and I have no idea what in the hell Roy was doing.
