No I agree it’s odd. He sounds like he’s handpicking every word and syllable one by one.

He has always sounded that way going back to when he was a player. Difference is he sounds like he is being extremely careful in what and how he says things.

I’ve always thought he would be effective in a RB/WR role. If I’m not mistaken he was a RB in college before WR. He could be an effective version of Shenault. He needs designed plays where he gets the ball and just runs.

I think it’s clear that Canales is doing a few things here: 1) Backing off from Bryce. Less accountability if there is regression. 2) Putting Bevell in place behind Idzik so he can spend more time with Evero. The second one is important because Capers isn’t there anymore, Evero has to stand on his own and Canales has no excuse not to evaluate him. If Defense struggles, Canales has to pull the plug. And put Wash or somebody in.

Speaking of potential trades, Person said in his article today that Dalton could be a low cost trade candidate to free up some cap. Really it makes sense if you are a QB needy team and are planning on taking a guy in the 2nd or 3rd round

I thought the same thing until I realized Chubb was traded in the middle of the season during Evero’s tenure. He probably didn’t like getting put in Cover 3.

I’d like to add a veteran. Regardless of their style, I do agree we need a guy that can break free, I’d like to see a veteran in the room that’s not David Moore.

I agree but trading back kinda sucks as well because the last 3 years we have been trying to accumulate core players. We kinda have that core built. Now we just need playmakers, guys who can impact games. We don’t have that. Maybe Dan goes after that in Free Agency and more depth in the draft.

My guess is there are 1-2 players Dan will have flagged and if they aren’t there he trades back. Its hard to frame the draft until FA is over.

Yeah it depends what the offseason looks like. Does the defense get another step better and/or does Bryce get another step better.

He’s in a weird spot because I don’t think 8 wins gets you in the playoffs 2 years in a row. So he has to improve or he’s going to back track and depending how much he back tracks, he could be fired. 0-4 wins- likely fired before season over 4-7 wins- depends what happened, injuries, etc 7-9 wins -probably okay depending on how season ended. Losing a ton in November/December might get him fired. 10+ wins- no worries

I’ve said that something was significantly off when we played New England back in September. I think we just had an ass game. We went toe to toe with the Rams twice and performed about the same level against the Seahawks that the Patriots did. That’s promising going into next year.
