  1. Christina Hendricks was in the 1st season as well. She was much better known for her role in Mad Men.
  2. First comes a whistled tune—“The Farmer in the Dell,” delivered with extra menace. Then the sight of him—Omar Little, played by Michael K. Williams, stalking the streets of Baltimore in a billowing duster concealing a shotgun. Omar was the most indelible character on The Wire, one of TV’s greatest dramas, and the show was most viewers’ introduction to Williams, a captivating screen presence who was found dead yesterday in Brooklyn at the age of 54. Williams demonstrated versatility far beyond that one character: “Michael K. Williams Is More Than Omar From The Wire,” declared the headline of an excellent 2017 profile of the actor. But on hearing of his death, I couldn’t help but think of his swaggering entrance on that show back in 2002, when he was a near-total unknown. Though The Wire was about the impassable institutional lines drawn between cops and criminals, Omar belonged to neither world, a stickup artist who robbed drug dealers and kept to his own moral code. From the first minute, Williams spun to life a singular character who was intimidating, unpredictable, and devilishly wry—a standout in a series littered with career-best performances. ------------------------------------- I never watched The Wire, but I saw Williams in Boardwalk Empire as Chalky White, Leonard Pine in Hap & Leonard, both underappreciated roles.
  3. Okay, I don't watch this show, but I know of it. Are they running out of has-beens that need some extra cash or are trying to let the viewing audience know they're still alive? I thought they had actors and athletes and generally more well-known personalities? Jerry Rice was on this show, so was Emmitt Smith, but this is how far ABC is reaching into the bottom of the barrel? I mean, seriously, I know none of these people outside of Suni Lee. I do have questions, though. WT exact F is a "professional stationary bike rider," or a "ponytail afficiando?" Someone's parents being in jail makes them a TV personality? Or the fact they date "lots of women?" It should be re-titled "Jumping the Shark With the Stars." Better yet, just "Jumping the Shark" because there are no fugging stars here.

  5. I'm surprised the Canes haven't looked at Galchenyuk or Donato (both forwards) or even looked to bring Sami Vatanen back on the blue line. Galchenyuk plays all 3 forward spots and is a lefty.
  6. Go back and look at some of the names who left New England under Billy and tell me you're surprised?
  7. I paid 30 cents per gallon less today than I did 10 days ago.
  8. The Habs are $2.2M over the cap and their roster is still 2 players short. Keep this in mind- maybe Carolina is looking at whomever Montreal may cut to keep KK on the roster with a matching offer, if it's not KK to start with.
  9. Rhule had the same thought, then the trade happened. Anyone tell the front office Google was wrong? What's gonna happen when they give him an O-lineman's number and the offensive playbook?
  10. They're setting up a Go Fund Me account to find a LT.
  11. Not scheduling a practice is better than any protection this O-line can provide.
  12. If the Panthers are down to whomever of these 2 is the backup, the season is a wrap. Don't delude yourself.
  13. Raleigh area gas prices were actually 25 cents a gallon cheaper this morning than Friday.
  14. Grier or Walker? Flip a fuggin' coin. If something happens to Sam and either of these 2 guys has to play anything beyond a half of football, you might as well go take up another Sunday afternoon hobby because you'll only end of being more pissed off than it's worth. Save your health, go play with the kids, work in the garden, pressure wash the driveway...
  15. Imagine this- Steve Smith actually has the balls to say the same things most of you were already thinking, but "it's not a good look." Gimme a fugging break. Every one of us watched Joey Slye likely lose his roster spot last night and we knew it the moment it happened. But, because it was Steve Smith and he said what we all already knew, he's the bad guy. Okay, gotcha.
  16. So, why the fug do you hang around if it's such "a dump?" To think that one little sperm sacrificed everything he had to create you, and look at the results. I'll bet if he had to do it all over again, he would swim downstream just to keep your miserable ass from existing.
  17. Top 3 LD: Slavin @ $5.3M, Skjei @ $5.25M and Gardiner @ $4.05 Top 3 RD: Pesce @ $4.02M, Cole @ $2.9M and Bear @ $2M Brady Skjei, as much as I like the guy, isn't worth his salary. Nor is Gardiner, but you can't lose them both, and Gardiner is probably Weddel and RBA's choice to go. Tarasenko is under contract, regardless, @ $7.5M. The roster is still 2 players short and there's $4M of cap space available. But, looking forward, are Necas and Lorentz the 2 guys ready to step into the shoes of Vinny Trocheck and Nino? There's little doubt that Necas is ready, but Lorentz is still a couple years away. Nonetheless, I can still see the roster without Vinny or Nino at some point. I don't think Fast is going anywhere unless it's a good trade. He's a bargain at $2M. So, here's the challenge- Show me your best #2, 3 and 4 lines of forwards only (we know Aho & Svech are the 1's) and what those lines look like without either Trocheck or Nino.
  18. If this is the starting O-line, Darnold won't make it thru the season uninjured. It's garbage against the Steelers #2's.
  19. I think Gardiner is the odd man out and will either get dumped or LTIR. A C/RW He's at $4M and the Canes are loaded on the left side of the blue line. Brendan Smith and Ian Cole can play either side, so the roster has 5 LDs right now. I also think Tarasenko is the play as Eichel is simply too costly. How long does riding the Jordan Staal horse go on? I also think Ryan Donato and Kyle Palmieri are really good players for their respective price tags.
  20. I'll provide the same effort in crafting this response as the Panthers did playing Saturday night.... Meh.
  21. Yep, I can see it coming already. On the other hand, nobody is going to lose a toe, feet, fingers or hands mowing or weedeating.
  22. I think I've watched just about every season of this series until now. In the 25 years since the Panthers clubbed the Cowboys in the Division playoffs in January 1997, the Cowboys have won exactly 3 playoff games, while losing 9 others.... in 25 years.... They are irrelevant at this point.
