  1. How soon we forget that Carolina went thru their playoff run last year with their #2 and AHL recall goalie in net when Freddie went down. And, I'm sorry, but Boston doesn't scare me. The Canes played them 3 times this season. The first in November with the AHL recall goalie in net (in Boston) and it took the Bs to get to OT and a win. Second time was in Raleigh and Boston was never in it while Carolina rolled up a 4-1 win. Third game was yesterday, again in Boston and again, it took a SO win by the Bruins. From a point perspective, the season was split 4-4. Last season, Carolina beat Boston in the 1st round.
  2. Boston had an OT and a SO win against the Canes, so they also had 4 points. Remember, an OT or SO turns it into a 3-point game (2 for the winner, 1 for the loser).
  3. Loss is on Andersen. The last 2 goals and 1 of the shootout goals were weak as fug. No #37 and mediocre goaltending will be the demise of the Canes in a short playoff season.
  4. True garbage PP. Carolina looks like ass.
  5. Bruins with 10 shots in the 1st half of the 1st period. On pace for a 60-shot game on Freddie. No way Canes win that.
  6. Look, if I'm being honest, Storm Brew is just not good beer. And I'm no hipster craft beer critic, I just appreciate a good, old fashioned, cold beer on very rare occasions.
  7. I have a feeling NJ's goaltending will be what exposes them in the playoffs.
  8. If anyone here thinks the Canes can give up 44 shots to Boston and still expect to win... well, I don't know what to tell you. I missed the game last night but watched the highlights this morning and when I saw the shot total, I was a little wary. What happened to the D? Ineffective forecheck? How did a 2-line team get 44 shots on goal? Allow 44 shots to Boston today and the Canes will need to score 7 to win...
  9. The Canes enjoy a small, 2-point lead on the Devils and they have 2 games in hand. NJ is also back home today for the second game of a back-to-back with Ottawa in town. Even with 2 games in hand, a 2-point lead says, "Take care of your own business and let the chips fall where they may." Maintain or build on the 2-point lead with a win, or keep the lead or, perhaps, fall into a tie with NJ. It's about points now. Not so much beating the other guy, who we dislike immensely. If #52 was in the starter's crease this morning, then he's starting. On the other side of that coin is #31, who has stood on his head the last 2 games. None of the goals allowed were really on him as much as defensive lapses. Not sure which pill you'd rather swallow- the defensive lapse or the goalie giving up the easy one now and then. I'll take the defensive lapse, because there's still a chance the goalie comes up huge.
  10. 5-2 Buffalo after 2. This is a good thing.
  11. Beaufort to the north and Sunset Beach to the south.
  12. 2 of 4 from NY is a win in my opinion. 1 or 2 points of the possible 4 available Saturday & Sunday and a win against TB will be a very successful 5-game stretch.
  13. Canes are gassed. Be lucky to stay just 1 goal down now.
  14. So, KK takes a head shot, Drury gets his helmet ripped off and there's a penalty on Carolina. Gotcha.
  15. Linville is the guy who helped Eric Rudolph avoid capture for five years in the Murphy area....
  16. On their ice when they had last change and the Canes stood tall. The Rangers top line was invisible. It'll take this same effort for 4 more games...
  17. If memory serves me, Stepan has a history of playing well against NY.
  18. The operative word here was "consistency." The Canes never played them during the COVID season until the playoffs. That season was a wash regardless and shouldn't count for anything beyond player stats. The prior season (2019-20) the Canes went 0-4, and in 2018-19 they went 2-2. Regardless of their 3 wins in 4 meetings last season, the fact is they lost in the playoffs... at home. And, in the playoffs, I don't see Carolina winning 4 of 7. They had a better shot of winning 4 of 7 last year than this. While the Canes are losing guys to injury, the Rangers improved their roster.
  19. Canes have not been able to beat the Rangers with any consistency in years. And it continues this season, so my expectations are next to nothing. If they win one or even get an OT point for one of the 2 games, I'll be okay. That being said, at some point the Canes will have to face them in the playoffs, and this is where the season ends.
  20. We can only imagine how the end to this game would have sounded with Big Mike Maniscalco and Tripp doing the broadcast. Instead, we were treated to a couple guys who were obviously leaning toward the Flyers and as interesting to listen to as a lawnmower.
  21. And, not the first time he's done this.... DeAngelo will spend the rest of his life having Aho nightmares...
