  1. This is not good hockey. Slavin is working his butt off to cover for Burns defensive lapses.
  2. Vancouver knows they have to muck it up to stay in the game.
  3. The call was "incidental contact." Reviwed and they changed the call to "goalie interference." Two different calls.
  4. Svech will get 50 if he stays on this line.
  5. To be fair, DeHaan and Chatfield are getting the ice time and making 30% of Bear's $2.2M salary. And when Coghlan comes back, that'll be 3 blue-liners making a fraction of Bear's salary and getting all the ice time. So I can't say I blame him, but I do have to question what Waddell was thinking when all of this went down and they gave him that contract. On the other hand, waiting for another team to lose a 2nd or 3rd line D-man and they come calling for Bear is wishful thinking.
  6. Last Time Out: The Canes got off to a good start Saturday night in Calgary, establishing an early 2-0 lead. Sebastian Aho picked up his seventh point in three games with a goal just 1:44 in and Calvin de Haan contributed his first of the season to follow, but then things turned sour for the club. Calgary got a power play goal before the end of the first and completely took over the game in the second. They'd tie the contest and after Carolina could not convert on four minutes of power play time on their own inside the final seven minutes, the game needed overtime. In the bonus frame Tyler Toffoli beat Antti Raanta to seal the deal for the Flames. Winning The Special Teams Battle: Thursday night Rod Brind'Amour and players cited special teams as the difference in the team's 6-4 defeat to the Oilers, as they gave up two on the power play and another shorthanded. Saturday the Flames went 1/4 on the man advantage, but the issue was more about what was not done as opposed to what was. Carolina went 0/4 on their opportunities, 6:00 of which came inside the final 11:36 of the third period in a tied game. To add another level of frustration, they produced just three shots in their eight minutes of work. Vancouver enters tonight dead last in the penalty kill, perhaps providing an opportunity for the Canes' man advantage to appropriately get back on the board. So, They Are Human: After exceptional starts to the season for both Andrei Svechnikov and Martin Necas, both were held pointless on Saturday in Calgary. Svechnikov totaled eight points through the first four games of the campaign, six of them coming as goals. The six trail only Steven Stamkos of Tampa Bay for the most league-wide. For Necas, he's now got seven points in five games, a tremendous start to his bounce back year.
  7. There is no need for a tank. I keep having to say this- the Panthers are still a very bad football team, regardless what happened today. JFC, they won a game and all of a sudden the bandwagon is once again taking riders.
  8. Wish him nothing but the best. He's a genuinely good guy and a humble, appreciative person.
  9. I mentioned last week I'd be very happy with a 7 or 8 point trip. And I would expect a win tomorrow night. By the way, who made the comment about not playing Raanta because this isn't a 1A-1B goalie tandem and Andersen should be the guy? Honest question, I don't remember. I was surprised Raanta got the call, thought they'd give him the start over Vancouver.
  10. Doesn't he need to play to earn all the accolades you just put on him? Guy has played 16 games in the last 3 seasons. So, yeah, he's the best player on the field for 30% of the season, which accounts for maybe 5 wins.
  11. Out of town this weekend and missed the game. Was hoping to wake up with a victorious score on my phone... From what I've read, I might have spent a lot of the game upset. PP issues and road officiating... I did see Kadri's dive this morning, but hey, he's league star. Too bad our best guys don't get those calls. 3-1-1 with 5 points on this trip.
  12. Just coincidence that Smitty said on his podcast the other day that he advised a couple players (who called him) to request a trade.
  13. He's slated to play on a line that really needs his help. Let's hope that doesn't accelerate his recovery. We have time.
  14. The offense did their thing, but gave up too many odd-man rushes. The defense was a step behind all night and even looked a little intimidated. 3 of Edmonton's goals were the result of bad decisions, out of position and letting someone get behind the D to the net. Sloppy stuff. It's a 4-3 win if you take out the gimmes. Connor McDavid has scored 2 goals in 10 games against the Canes. Can't be intimidated by that.
  15. Another weak penalty. Please don't waste Svech's hattie effort.
  16. Defense is atrocious tonight. Over aggressive on offense and no aggression on D.
  17. So Buffalo goes into Alberta and gets 2 wins..... and... well.... Buffalo. Just sayin.
  18. He does throw elbows to create some space. Seen that a couple times tonight.
  19. Bad penalty after a bad whistle. Puck hadn't even hit the ice after Campbell mishandled it and tge ref blew it dead.
  20. Now just get your defensive sh!t together!
  21. This is an ass-kicking. Giving up odd-man rushes one after the other. It would be worse if Chatfield hadn't covered a half dozen mistakes already.
