  1. Not a good night overall. Canes look very ordinary tonight. With a difficult stretch of games, I think the Canes may find themselves looking up at NJ in 1st place come Monday unless they figure out how to win games against bad teams.
  2. Not going to score from the point unless there's a redirect. Get someone in front and play deeper, forcing the Habs to play closer to the goal line.
  3. Canes playing no D. Standing around watching Habs shoot.
  4. It's either a good goal or a hooking penalty. Canes get neither.
  5. Rather sluggish start. And no sooner.... fug.
  6. Last Time Out: The Canes ran it up on the Arizona Coyotes on Friday in a 6-1 win, flew across the country on Saturday, and then did the same thing to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday. This victory may have been even more impressive though, considering the standings and the three-time Eastern Conference Champions being held off the scoreboard as a whole, with 6-0 being the final. Teuvo Teravainen recorded his second career hat trick and Jesperi Kotkaniemi published a career-high five points in the victory. A Ghost Has Appeared: After scoring a power-play goal in his debut with the team on Friday in Arizona, Shayne Gostisbehere followed his opening act with more of the same on Sunday. Registering another tally on the man advantage and adding two assists as well, the team's new #41 became the first defenseman in franchise history to score a power-play goal in both of his first two games with the team. N3cas: Canes forward Martin Necas enters tonight riding back-to-back three-point performances. He now has 15 multi-point performances this season and he has now established a new single-season career-high with 22 power play points. 500 For Fish: Sebastian Aho is set to play in his 500th NHL game tonight. He has registered 456 points (209g, 247a) in his Hurricanes career and trails only Ron Francis (1981-88: 183-386-569) for the most points by any player through his first 500 games with Hartford/Carolina. Puljujarvi's Debut Possible: Newly acquired forward Jesse Puljujarvi could debut as soon as tonight for the Canes. Acquired last Tuesday from Edmonton in exchange for unsigned prospect Patrik Puistola, the 24-year-old winger had an appointment yesterday in Ottawa to resolve his visa issues before heading to Montreal to meet the team. Thursday, February 16: Seth Jarvis records his first NHL hat trick as the Canes dominate Montreal on Cam Ward's Hall of Fame Night. With his dad in the building during the Father/Mentor Tour. Forwards: Svechnikov - Aho - Jarvis Teravainen - Kotkaniemi - Necas Martinook - Staal - Fast Noesen - Stastny - Stepan Defense: Slavin - Burns Skjei - Pesce Gostisbehere - Chatfield Goalies: Raanta Andersen The only question is do the Canes healthy scratch Stepan and let the Pool man get some ice time? I doubt it as he arrived in Montreal just in time for the morning skate. Probably see him Thursday night at home against Philadelphia. It'll be much more welcoming and comfortable.
  7. Spot on. Remember Derek Anderson? Yes, he was significantly older when he came to Carolina, but he was a very good backup to Cam in so many ways.
  8. For those who missed the game, it airs today @ 2PM on the NHL Network. Condensed 1 1/2 hour version.
  9. David Lindley, musician and writer worked with everyone from Jackson Browne to the Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, Ry Cooder, Bonnie Raitt, Warren Zevon... and the list goes on. Probably best known for his radio hit back in the mid 70's "Mercury Blues." He was 79. Gary Rossington, last survivor of the plane crash and longest tenured member of Lynyrd Skynyrd. He was the featured guitarist on Free Bird and had a couple bands on the side, with the best known being the Rossington-Collins Band. He was 71.
  10. Twitter, in general, is a cesspool. This coming from someone whose "social media presence" is this board as well as a Jeep forum....
  11. TT took a shot?!! TT scores! See, good things happen when you shoot the puck.
  12. Okay, so it took 4 penalties until 1 was called on TB. Not good odds.
  13. Great... TNT just poo the bed.... no channel feed.
  14. TB got schooled by Buffalo yesterday and coach Jon Cooper benched his top line (Kucherov, Stamkos and Point) in the 3rd period for not playing up to his standards. Really? I have an idea they got benched knowing they need a win in Raleigh today on the second day of a back-to-back. They've lost 4 in a row but are 7 points on the safe side of the playoffs ahead of the Islanders and Pens.
  15. TB Lightning coach Cooper benched Brayden Point, Nikita Kucherov and Steven Stamkos in the 3rd period of Saturday's loss to the Buffalo Sabres. They were playing like crap and Cooper made his point. Let's see what happens tomorrow.
  16. It's the nature of the beast. That heavy forecheck means everyone plays very deep and that line has no speed whatsoever. Consequently, sneaking a guy out behind the D for an odd man breakaway or a stretch pass up the ice will happen.
  17. Yes, it was Arizona, keep in mind. Passing was crisp, Staal's forechecking line did their thing, and all the big boys did what they're paid to do. Let's not forget Raanta- he played lights out in the first 2 periods and had some nice saves until the D showed up. There was a stretch from the 2nd period into the 3rd when the Yotes didn't have a shot on goal for over 17 minutes. Watch the replay today on BSSO or watch the highlight reel on YouTube. The assists last night were as nice as the goals.
  18. Necas from Burns (4 assists so far). Other than Aho's breakaway, all of Carolina's goals have been missiles.
  19. That fight though..... lol. Kochetkov's reaction when he gets tossed, standing there like, "Who? Me?"
  20. That celly was hilarious!. Gotta see the fight...
  21. Pesce called for the phantom trip. Just a fugging horrendous call. Toronto should be able to immediately call those off. Good kill followed by a cannon shot by Slavin. Burns with 2 perfect assists so far.
