https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/3159048/aho-owns-scoring-slump-ive-got-to-be-better It's no coincidence the Carolina Hurricanes' worst stretch of the season has corresponded with Sebastian Aho's goal-scoring funk. The Canes fell 3-0 at home to the Ottawa Senators on Friday, dropping to 4-6-1 in their past 11 games. Aho has found twine just twice during that stretch. "I've gotta be better, no question about it," Aho said postgame. "But at the same time, I think we've got to find some chemistry between the linemates as well, and especially the nights that you're not feeling it." The offensive well has dried up a bit of late for the Hurricanes. They haven't had a five-on-five goal from a forward in three consecutive contests. Aho doubled down on the need for his line - featuring Andrei Svechnikov and Jack Roslovic - to improve. "It's not always easy, it's not always going your way, but that's the time when you need to grind one out," Aho continued. "So I've got to be better, and obviously our line's got to be better." Aho has been remarkably consistent throughout his career, scoring 36 goals in each of the past two seasons and 37 the year before that. However, with seven goals in 29 games this season, he's on pace for what would be a career-low 20. The playmaking has still been there, though. He's picked up 11 assists in his past 11 games and ranks second on the team with 30 points this season. ------------------------------------------------------ Aho's problem illustrates one of the biggest problem this team has- their level of play, on both ends of the ice, is completely and 100% predicated on scoring. If Aho is not scoring goals, his entire game is crap. If Svechnikov isn't scoring goals, he started looking to pass first and not shoot. The most consistent piece of the top line is the guy with the least experience on that line- Roslovic.

Roslovic.

So, tell us why you're still here? This thread has devolved into Carolina Panther level trash. Think I'm gonna check out for a while. See you guys down the road. Maybe we can get back to talking hockey at some point.

Blatant charge, boarding or cross-check penalty when Mayfield hit Chatty. Goes uncalled and NY scores the tying goal.
-
Nobody had Svech? Oh well.
-
SMDH.
-
He's got the same lines as Thursday vs the Avs. Tripp has mentioned it at least 3 times already.
-
Martinook.
-
Trust me, you guys don't need my permission to call him whatever you want, IDGAF. I'll be fine using #52 or PK, thanks.
-
It is, but he didn't choose them, so I'm not sure what the point is. However, if he told the person asking, "Don't call me that," it's fairly safe to assume that's not the nickname the team gave him, either.
-
PK had 2 bad goals but your Canes red-lens glasses refuse to let you see the parts of his game he needs to improve upon. Islanders give us hell every game, and the Canes lost to lesser teams already, so take nothing for granted. There's also this: Apparently, RBA doesn't think the game is that important, leaving #52 on the bench, if this is the case. Tokarski hasn't played on NHL ice since February 2023.
-
I thought that was pretty well-known, but I guess not. in Chicago, he was simply "PK" or "Pyotr the Great." I've heard "Kooch," which I'm kinda okay with, but "Koochie?" No fugging way have I or would I ever refer to him that way, nor do I think any of his teammates have ever called him that.
-
Maybe we should change it up and just see if the Canes can score the first goal of the game... period! Kidding...... but, not really.
-
And they traded Trouba and all of his $8M to Anaheim to clear enough cap to do the deal.

I suppose I could take the same tact with you and say something like, "I know PF69 isn't a fan of our boy...," but the reality is Brent Burns isn't playing great, but, until last night, the entire team hasn't been good (2-3 last 5 heading into Thursday night). The first breakaway MacKinnon had was totally not Burns. He was along the board and Martinook was spun down trying play him. Burns was pushed to the outside when Martinook went down, but no way was he going to catch Mac. He pinched up on the right board when Slavin was carrying the puck into the zone and nobody was back. Couple things there; either there was no communication or Burns simply assumed, as most of us probably would, that Slavin would successfully rim the puck around behind the goal. It didn't happen. Slavin was clear down by the dots and the puck was stopped behind the net by the Avs and a long stretch pass followed with a breakaway goal. Burns was waiting on Slavin's rim, but it never got there. To answer your question, Burns is a -2 for the season, and -5 over the last 6. So, go ahead and roast him for that, and then look at the +3 from the previous 7 games. Keep in mind, he is a +2 for his entire career, so what we're seeing is not anything new, it's fairly consistent over a 1441 game career thus far. And also look at his TOI, which is at the lowest in his career, while his CF% and oZS% are both career highs. He may not be doing everything right, but most of it he's getting done. Oh yeah, Slavin is a -3 over the last 6 games, too, so there's that. You may think +/- is an important stat, but if you take a 3-3 record over the last 6 games, and 2 of those games were ass-kickings (6-3 and 6-0), everyone on the damn roster is going to be a -something except Necas, maybe.

You don't know anything if that's what you think. I've never said I'm not a fan of 52. The Canes hitched their wagon to him and, for better or worse, he's the only option at the #1. Both of the 5-hole goals were on him. His technique on the butterfly isn't good because he never gets his stick on the ice in front of him. He hasn't mastered how to use the stick as a third blocker to cover the 5. One of the reasons he loses his stick is because he isn't comfortable with it as another appendage. He acts like it gets in his way if he's not using it for a poke check and looks as though he'd rather play the position without it at times. I'm supporting the kid. He's still learning the position and, hopefully, he continues to develop his craft.

Fixed that when it was needed.
-
Svech with a 4-point night.
-
Two 5-holes on 52.
-
There's the 1 #52 gives up every game. No stick on the ice in front of his open butterfly.
-
Horrible call on Drury.
-
Is it me, or does it look like Svech is afraid to shoot?
-
Rosie with a bullet- same spot as Jarvy's goal.
-
Jarvy is becoming Aho-like in putting this team on his back. Monster shot.

Let's make this PP work.
