    This ranking doesn't tell the whole story though. Opposing teams had short fields to work with and could do whatever they wanted on offense because the Panthers simply couldn't stop them. Look at how many TDs the defense gave up. Only three or four teams gave up more that season. That's why EE should have been let go instead of retained, well, also because he wanted to leave.

    No. Rhule and Co ran the 3-3-5 and before that Rivera did the halfassed switch to the 3-4 because of Tepper. EE's defense is supposed to be more like Capers and more of a traditional 3-4.
