  1. We'll take these guys in order of size but for comparison sake, we'll include the little guy's stats too. Young(6'0" 194lbs): 64.5 CMP% for 3328 YDs, 32TDs, 5 INTs, and a rating of 163.2 Now on to the show. Stroud(6'3" 218lbs): 66.3 CMP% for 3688 YDs, 41 TDs, 6 INTs, and a rating of 177.7 Levis(6'3" 232lbs): 65.4 CMP% for 2406 YDs, 19 TDs, 10 INTs, and a rating of 151.9 Hooker(6'4" 218lbs): 69.6 CMP% for 3135 YDs, 27 TDs, 2 INTs, and a rating of 175.5 Ahlers(6'4" 230lbs): 67.2 CMP% for 3708 YDs, 28 TDs, 5 INTs, and a rating of 151.1 Richardson(6'4" 232lbs): 53.8 CMP% for 2549 YDs, 17 TDs, 9 INT, and a rating of 131.0 McKee(6'6" 230lbs): 62.0 CMP% for 2947 YDs, 13 TDs, 8 INTs, and a rating of 126.4 So, it's a clear choice when you just consider size and stats, ECU's Holton Ahlers should be the #1 pick in the draft and Carolina's QB of the future. The stats don't lie! He offers ideal size with better stats than Richardson and McKee and he's bigger than the rest. Of course that is discounting age, level of competition, supporting casts, coaching, and how well they actually play the position. But that stuff doesn't matter. Size matters trumps talent, skill, and how well a guy plays the position. Just kidding! The Panthers should totally draft Levis or Richardson at 1. I'm still joking... mostly. Now that the joking is out of the way, let's take a look at Young's and Stroud's two losses. Stroud: Vs UGA 67.6 CMP% for 348 YDs, 4 TDs, 0 INTs, and a rating of 192.4 *Best game of his career and let down by his defense. Vs Mich 64.6 CMP% for 349 YDs, 2 TDs, 2 INTs, and a rating of 131.1 *If you watched this one, you saw him and the offense fall apart in the second half. Young: Vs Tenn 67.3 CMP% for 455 YDs, 2 TDs, 0 INTs, and a rating of 153.5 *Good game but let down by his defense. Vs LSU 49.0 CMP% for 328 YDs, 1 TD, 1 INT, and a rating of 105.6 *Not a great game, but Young did enough to win and the defense couldn't get a stop. And for giggles, here is Young Vs UGA in the 21-22 season. 12/4 59.1 CMP% for 421 YDs, 3 TDs, 0 INTs, and a rating of 162.0 *Alabama won this one. 1/10 61.4 CMP% for 369 YDs, 1 TD, 2 INTs, and a rating of 114.6 *National title game that UGA won. Honestly, Young and Stroud both are great college QBs with Stroud having the better stats due to having a better supporting cast. The Michigan game should be a big concern for Stroud. Michigan couldn't get to him much until late in the game yet he couldn't do much at all against that defense in the second half. He had trouble reading coverge and as the game went on, Michigan started getting good pressure on him. That caused Stroud to start missing and throw a pick. He then had the game of his life vs UGA. Is he a one hit wonder? Young didn't play great in several games last season. He might have been pressing, trying to live up to the Heisman and number 1 pick talk hype or maybe he just didn't have the same chemistry with his receivers his junior year vs his sophomore year. That said, he played well enough to win every game he was in and Alabama only lost those two games because the defense couldn't get stops. The last team with the ball won the Tenn and LSU games. How all these guys play at the next level will depend on their personal drive and where they end up. While Stroud was the better passer, Young was the better, more complete QB and proved he could play at a high level despite his "size concerns" against current and future NFL players that played in the SEC. Still after going back and fourth with some of the posters here, I think I've arrived at the point I want to see the Panthers take Richardson or Levis at #1 just to watch this place burn.
  2. They remind me of a guy that used to run a successful but niche business. Who was that guy? Oh yeah! It's this guy He always loved size more than talent. That's why he tried making guys like this and this his stars over guys like this and this before, like certain former Panther coaches, he was forced to play younger talent. It also helped that one of those younger, smaller guys became the biggest star his niche business ever had. TLDR: Talent matters more than size
  3. I sort of want to see this happen now just to see the Stroud and size matters fanboys lose their poo.
  4. Right because there's no way for a person 6ft or shorter to navigate the pocket and find throwing lanes... It's never been done before! Dur! And it's not like Young hasn't been doing just that sort of thing in the NFL's minor league, I mean SEC, his whole college career against NFL sized players... Every person and body is different. Size/weight don't mean poo when it comes to taking hits. The right hit will end anyone's career or injure them regardless of size. Just ask Cam Newton and his shoulder or Thomas Davis and his knees. Guys like Russell Wilson(won a SB), Sonny Jurgensen(played till his 40s), Mich Vick(slight, multiple pro bowler), Eddie LeBaron(smallest QB ever played over a decade), Doug Flutie(played 12 pro seasons), and Drew Brees(one of the best ever stats wise) have had long careers that were relativity injury free or played a long time after injuries.
  5. Not necessarily. Person A can be 6ft and weighs 200lbs while person B is 5'7" and weighs 220lb. Mass is not dependent on height.
  6. Just because they don't tackle in basketball doesn't mean there's no contact. Players run into each other and swipe with elbows all the time. There's plenty of contact in basketball. That's not the point though. The point is does being 6'10" make someone a better QB than someone 6' or less? Your argument is that height matters or trumps all, so does being tall make someone a better QB than someone that plays the position at an extremely high level that just happens to be 6' or less?
  7. So? Height doesn't really matter when it comes to durability. This is Kevin Durant. He's 6'10". Would his height help him hold up in the NFL? He's averaging 5.3 assists a game this season which is just as good or better than some point guards, so he can pass. Would his height help him be a better QB in the NFL?? The answers are no. These height arguments are silly. If a guy can play the game well he can play in the NFL regardless of height.
  8. Scoot instead. The Panthers, er, Hornets already have a nice young center.
  9. I don't think Young will have injury issues. His style of play translates very well to the NFL. He navigates the pocket, scrambles, and avoids contact better than any of the other QBs in the draft. In all the Bama games I saw this past season, I only saw Young take one sack where it looked like he didn't feel the rusher at all. The dude also only missed one game in three years due to injury, so he's tough too. I'm not as high on Stroud because even when facing Georgia, he was never pressured a lot and when he was pressured he became frantic, though Georgia did get to him more than other teams. But to Stroud's credit, he stepped up in the playoff game unlike the rest of the season. Like what happened to Young in Bama's two losses, the defense let the offense down and lost the game. Stroud's Oline was elite in college as was his #1 WR, and he's not going to have that in the NFL. Was Stroud's performance in the Georgia game him finally showing what he can do or just a one off? That's the dilemma with him.
  10. Then Reich gets on the stage and rips his face off, revealing he's really John Fox. Fox then says, "It was me all along Austin, you son of witch!"
  11. If Young leads the Panthers to back to back winning seasons and a superbowl win, then he could only last 3-5 years and it would have been worth the trade.
  12. He's a sophomore, so you'll have to wait at least another year for him, that makes zero sense. And if he gets paid a lot thanks to NIL, maybe two years.
  13. Drew Brees says hi. Young navigates the pocket in a similar manner to how Brees did so many years.
  14. A ballhawk type of guy with coverage skills? It's been what, 15 years or so since the Panthers have had that at safety? Might be longer than that since I think Fox preferred the in the box SS type too.
  15. I agree with you. Young can also make plays dancing around in the pocket or rolling out that the others just haven't done. If Young had Stroud's size, people would say Young is a unicorn or generational talent. Instead, people focus on his size and claim he's too small ignoring his body of work and NFL history. I still think Stroud benefited from his supporting cast more than any other QB in the draft. He had the best WR by miles and probably the best Oline while being in a very QB friendly system. Even Georgia's vaunted defense barely got pressure on him in their game. That's what I'm concerned with the most in Stroud's case. He had one good game against an equal or perhaps superior team where he truly stepped up, which was on the largest stage. Can he do that week in and week out? I don't think he can. Young on the other hand had stepped up in those sorts of games more than once and even lost some where he didn't play his best. Yet, he still did enough to win if Bama's defense could have gotten a stop or two. Young's a gamer and should be the pick if the Panthers have the chance.
  16. I don't blame the players asking for as much as they are. These guys know they have a limited NFL window regardless of their size. I also get the feeling a lot of the younger guys don't love the game truly and view it more of as a means to an end. And that end is getting rich. And yeah, the whole size things is a dumb argument. Cam was one of the biggest QBs ever and it didn't do him a bit of good. He barely made it a decade in the NFL. Brees, a much smaller QB, played nearly 20 years in the league. Playing style seems to matter more and Young has a style that translates to longevity in the NFL.
  17. Yeah, they're not going to tip their hand if they can help it. From day 1 when the coaches were saying what they wanted in a QB made me think Young was the guy they had in mind. Stroud would be the second choice provided you're getting UGA game Stroud instead of can't handle pressure in his face Stroud. Richardson and Levis are more of mixed bags.
  18. Fran Tarkenton weighed 190 or so when playing. Sonny Jurgenson was maybe 202 when playing. Eddie LeBaron was 5'7" and weighed less than 170 and played 12 years in the NFL. Doug Flutie weighed 180 during his playing days. Drew Brees was only a little over 200 pounds during his playing days. All these height, weight, frame arguments don't mean poo. If the guy can play and take a hit, he can play. And Young can has proven he can do that against future NFL guys.
  19. Article How the heck did the gator get up to the attic? The house was under construction, so did it have a ramp?
