What is the benefit to benching starters for the preseason?
jayboogieman replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Looking at the win/loss records shows just how mediocre this team has been over its history. It's gone from mediocre to just bad since the last SB, especially after Tepper bought it. And before anyone says it, no, those 7 winning seasons don't make up for all the losing seasons because those handful of highs don't make up for the lows, especially since those highs always ended with another loss. -

Haven't bought any merch since 2015 or 2016. I forget which. -

Not just you. I rarely charge my devices overnight as well. Usually it happens because I fell asleep watching TV. Back to the EVs. There's been several stories of Teslas catching fire or exploding I've seen over the years. I think the Chevy Volt had similar stories a couple of years ago too.

I think it'll be a big issue all season even if Corbett goes down to injury. The team just doesn't have an NFL or even D1 quality center on the roster.

Haven't seen much about fires happening, but it does happen though not as often as gas powered cars. Here's a couple of articles. 1, 2. And here's one about cellphone batteries exploding/catching fire.

Would you turn down a Peppers clone for a WR1?

Corbett still having issues snapping the ball?

What happened to the belief that the Oline needed time to gel? Those guys need the reps. Has the starting Oline even had a single practice together this camp? The Panthers don't have the talent other teams do. The starters getting more reps won't offset that talent difference, but it wouldn't make them worse.

All the losing years since the last SB run, has made me apathetic to the team. I've gone from watching every game to barely watching any games. Part of me would welcome Tepper moving the team out of the Carolinas at this point. Maybe that way, the NFL would expand again or at least move a team here with a new owner that would hopefully get things right in a few years.

Being calm and rational?

Says Mingo and TMJ will make the roster. Wonders if XL will make an impact. Casts doubt because of his college career. Says he's seen a lot of highlights for the other WRs that were drafted around XL's spot or later without having to seek them out unlike XL. Talks about the roster moves the last 3 minutes or so

Some of the reps in the NC legislature have brought up a road usage tax for EVs that'll be charged per mile.

What is the benefit to benching starters for the preseason?

Says not playing the starters is a flex by DC and Tim hopes it works out for him. Says if the team has a slow start, the narrative will be how could they be expected to have a fast start since they hadn't played together beyond practice reps, new play caller, new scheme, etc. Brings up the injury concerns. Jokes a bit about DC being so happy to score a TD in the final seconds of the game and how he had an aura about him when he walked into the post game presser. There's more too. -

Cliff Notes: Injury concerns Different philosophies Players need reps, especially QBs Points out how other rookie and second year QBs are impressing in their camps There's a lot more detail in the 16 minute video -

Just started watching, so no cliff notes -
They should have killed the portal once NIL became a thing. That would have let the kids get paid while keeping the schools competing for HS kids just like they always have, except it would have been a little more above board.

This was the NFL before the salary cap. If college football survives the next few years, they'll adjust as well. In the meantime, I can watch college games and just enjoy football with zero loyalties or money put into it other than my satellite bill. Those type dudes are rare and no team sees them more than once a decade or so. Uh... recent history proves the Panthers are already there. I get what you're saying, but the Panthers haven't sniffed the playoffs, much less a winning season, in almost a decade.
-
I'll still watch college games since I feel the NFL is worse, not by much, but worse.

It's not just the QBs, it's not playing the starters in the preseason games(I highly doubt they play in the final game), it's the running sprints as punishment like he's Rhule, and the constant upbeat praise. It's football, not church, or counseling. Show some fire and passion when something goes wrong and when it goes right.

Just college games for me. I don't give a poo about the NFL outside what little care I have for the Panthers left.
